  1. Its just a thought, Last season on 4 or 5 outings I had to take my bouncers in to get the birds to commit themselves, and it worked out great. Possibly if the wind is not moving those wings enough on the bouncers, then from a great height they could look dead.
  2. Just come across this interesting article. what do you think? click the link :- http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/bril...02?crawler=true Tucker
  3. The lads have told you nearly everything you need to know. A nice damp night, a torch with a narrow beam as not to spread the light. I go to the local park and will come back with at least 200 in an hour +. A lot of them I get in two,s as they are getting ready to mate and are locked together. These will last me for a 5 hour fishing match. A little tip:- get a two ltr ice cream tub, put two holes in the sides with a piece of string through so it goes underneath the box with enough string underneath to get your foot in. then put two holes in the back of the box with string, and tie it round your ankles. you can then walk around with it on your foot putting your worms in. It saves walking up and down to your bait tub. and saves you an awful lot of time. Not a very good explanation but you get the idea. If I am fishing a competition in Ireland I could take up to 2000 lobs which is back breaking. GOOD LUCK TUCKER.

  15. What the hell can you catch on that sort of terminal tackle apart from a 1/2 oz gudgeon... Sounds like tiddler bashing to me mate.... I won a Isis match on the Thames in the 70,s before the Whip and Pole with nearly 15lb of Bleak caught with the line tied off to the top of my 13ft stick rod and a small quill float and size 20 bronze maggot hook..... Match Angling can be fun These days I couldnt afford the bait FM. Mike we call them "sets of eyes", because there is not much more to them! In the winter leagues thats ALL you can catch sometimes, but all hell lets loose if you hook a good roach  . The difference in winning and losing can be drammes. Regards TUC.
  16. In some of the bloodworm/ joker matches I fish in the winter, I have to go down to 32 hook and 4oz line. Now they ARE a pain to tie. Especialy in gin clear water. Thank god it is not too often. . TUC.

  20. Fert Are you trying to set up some kind of rivalry between retailers. Decoying uk have helped a lot of people on this site and will go on doing so, as no doubt Will may do. Some parcels do take longer than others. Don,t slag off other retailers, YOU MAY NEED THEM some day. :*) TUC.

    Hi

Wigeon Welcome to the site mate, . Hope you find it helpful, I did. All the best. TUC.
  22. Hi Mark. So on that reasoning they must have had a bore diameter to start with, and just had to make the balls to fit . That is my point, all the rest does not make sense. And why did they start with a pound of lead ?. Beats me. TUC.
  23. Been more than good to me in the past Thank,s a lot boys See you at the shows Cheers TUCKER
  24. Now this is doing my head in ! Me and my mates had a debate over how shotgun guages were developed. One of them explained it to me the same way as this article. Amaze your friends - explain this at your next social gathering The gauge of a shotgun barrel was originally determined by the number of identically-sized lead balls that have the same diameter as the bore, and weigh one pound. In other words, 12 lead balls, each with the diameter of a 12 gauge bore, weighs one pound - 20 equally sized balls, whose total weight is one pound, would identify the 20 gauge. The .410 is the only exception, it's not even a true "gauge." It's bore is the actual dimension of .410 of an inch, and therefore improper (except in hunting camps where language skills are excused) to refer to the 410 as a "gauge" (or you can take the other route, and ask your dealer for a box of 67 gauge shells). But what I can,t understand is that they must have started with a bore diameter or a barrel length to determine the size of the ball. i.e. 12 balls = 1 lb fit in 30" barrel length or 28" barrel. I can understand that 8,10,12,20,or 28 equal size balls weighing one pound, would give you a size. But where did they come up with the idea of one pound of lead ! And why make the barrels to fit the balls, instead of using standard size pipe and making the the balls fit. I,m now on a mission to find out, searching the web for the history of the shotgun bores :< . So what came first Pipe diameter (chicken) balls (egg) and WHY TUC.
