Sorry Flyeruk! I stand by what I say. I have quite a lot of experience of their auto traps, less of their manual traps. I have a fair amount of experience of Bowman traps with a little experience of their manual traps and I can say they are brilliant in every way by the same token I have judged GDK equipment.

If you feel the need for longer barrels then they can readily be had but make sure they will fit first. I have a 24.5" Breda semi which I use for sporting, mostly with skeet choke fitted. I never felt handycapped nor at a disadvantage. You could use steel if you need a tighter pattern for edgey clays or a slightly larger shot size. I believe you can use up to No 6 shot.

if you phone GDK you will get little response, you need to phone their technical guy on 07714082635 (can't remember his name) I found him quite helpful although my opinion of the GDK traps remain the same.

One of the other lads bought it from ebay on behalf of the club, the worrying thing is he is not a frequent vistor to the club and he thinks he has spent the money well. The lads who normally setup and service the other traps are giving it a wide berth, they are of the opinion that if you touch it, then it's yours to work on for the rest of your life. When it is elevated even slightly the clay on the right side falls off the arm, that moustache hanging down which is supposed to hold the clay just doesn't do the job. The first time we tried it we put a full box of clays through it, with the malfunctioning we couldn't get three shooters to complete the stand and eventually give up.

Please be careful, you'll blow your wad on very, very inferior equipment with these traps. They have their place cuz they are affordable but not for anything akin to serious shooting or practice. I am speaking from experience, our club bought one of the double arm auto traps, it is so bad that we don't even use it, this trap was bought about three months ago, from ebay, cost about £600 with the trolley and radio release facility. this thing is incapable of throwing even one clay at anything like a decent pace or distance and the radio release works at modest distances. We are stuck with it, £600 down and looking to buy again. There are three makes that I can vouch for, Promatic, Laporte and Bowman. Spend your money on a second hand trap by one of these makers, you'll have something at the end of it.

Good tip, I'll try that next shoot, thanks! I've always believed in keeping the platten clean, I don't like to see that tarry deposit. There's a make of clay making an appearence which seem more bitumen'y than others, they even soften and twist when they get hot.

Yes! I soldered it up with the centre positive and it worked as best a GDK trap can which is not at all good but at least it did work. The correct connection is positive centre, thanks to everybody who helped.

That will have to be my next move, a lot of people have confirmed to expect a + centre so I'm going for it. I'm sort of thinking that the manufacturers will be aware that the clips can so easily be connected to the wrong battery terminals and will have probably built diodes into the board to protect the components. I'm thinking if it was wrong the module may just not work, thanks for the support lads, much appreciated. JC

It's not the lead I need to find the polarity of, I can make that either or, it's the radio release module socket I need to know the polarity requirement of, it has no potential until it is connected to the battery using the lead I now need to make, but thanks tedster, I appreciate any help.. GC

My club bought a GDK trading, double arm, auto trap with the radio release option. Whilst putting the thing together the lead that connects to the radio receiver module and battery became tangled with an arm, the male plug that connects to the radio release module flew off and was lost . I have bought a new plug from Maplins and I am about to fit it to the lead but I don't know if the centre is positive or negative, if the circuit is not protected by a diode then connecting it incorrectly will cause serious damage, 99 times out of 100 times it is positive but I cannot be sure. I have contacted GDK trading but they have ignored my request for information, (says a lot ) can anyone help me please? if any of you kind people have one please do a continuity test on the lead. Thank you. Your kindness will be much appreciated in clay shooting circles

I went to 32" at one time, reason says the perceived lead should be increased but in fact I found I had to start to (what I thought at the time to be) under lead them but then I am a very poor excuse for a skeet shooter. Should have added that it was the same on the sporting field after which my scores increased above what had gone before.

I used to shoot sporting with one eye closed, now I shoot with both eyes closed and you know, doesn't make a blind bit of difference.

Look at Tanya Fauld's result from Canada, can you imagine how talented R+T's children could be if they are interested in the sport assuming the Darwinian theory holds up.
