  1. Many thanks for the helpful replies. For those wondering what I want them for - driven peacock.
  2. 30g with 7 shot in a 76mm is very effective. Lots of shot in the air!
  3. Hi Thanks for the reply - I agree, 76mm is getting hard to find. I had some reloaded 76mm's in 7 shot that a friend made for me, but unfortunately he no longer reloads and I cant find 76mm in a 7 shot anywhere! Cheers
  4. Hi All I wonder if anyone knows if any manufacturers make a 12 bore 76mm cartridge containing 7 shot? Cheers Dicker
  5. Hello guys My wifes current car is getting to the end if its economically viable lifespan, and needs to be replaced. We need somthing with 4x4, but really want an estate as we already have a big 4x4. Does anyone have experiencenif owning a Subaru Outback? Cheers
  6. Thanks for the comments gents. Very useful
  7. Hello and thanks for reading my post. Has anyone done research and purchased a new side by side shotgun recently? I am essentially looking for a lightweight, short barrelled (26") shotgun for early season partridge. (Later in the season, I shoot high pheasant with my brilliant Browning). I have looked at a couple of the Turkish and Spanish makes - does anyone have any reccomendations? Ideally sub 2000 pounds. Many thanks Dicker
  8. Thanks for the feedback, the last straw for me was my discovery needing a new gearbox, it had not had a particularly hard life and after many electrical problems, suspension problems and lots of various fluid leaks.
  9. Guys, thanks for the responses. Pretty much what I thought.... I have a friend who has an 8 yr old hilux with 140k on the clock from new. I use it now and again when feeding the pheasants on our shoot and it drives nicely for its age, and he self services, with oil changes every 8k. He reports that nothing other than normal servicing has ever been needed! What a different story to my Discovery......!
  10. Hi All, After many years of owning and running Defenders and Discoveries, my needs have changed and a Pickup is a really more appropriate for my needs. I am also pretty keen to reduce some of my maintenance bills, particularly the ones caused by unexpected issues. After a fair amount of driving around in friends Hiluxes and DMAX's (on and off road), I have pretty much chosen a new Hilux Twin Invincible Cab 3.0 Manual. I have read the other threads on this forum on pickups which are very useful, but would really appreciate any PW members experiences of the Hilux before I "press the button" and put a deposit down. In particular I am interested in reliability problems. Thanks Dicker

Both are great guns, and not so heavy that it makes a day walking around a real pain. The Maxus doesn't feed perfectly when I have used a load of 24 or under, not a problem for me as I use 30 most as a default. The SBE2 is a little more forgiving. Generally, I prefer shooting with the Maxus - it just suits me better. Perhaps controversial, but unlike my game gun which has to be thoroughly cleaned I don't clean the Maxus or SBE2 regularly - big bonus for me! Both are great and you won't go wrong. Cheers
  12. Hi All, I am trying to find some guided pigeon shooting some time in the new year for myself and my brother. i.e. a day's shooting where the kit is provided. We are based close to Cambridge and don't mind travelling. I have been pigeon shooting a couple of times with a friend a couple of years ago, and had some fantastic sport, but I do not have the kit or the local knowledge. (I shoot game about 10 times a year, and my brother shoots game a couple of times a year - we are safe competent guns) Does anyone have any recommendations? Cheers Dicker
  13. Hi everyone, I am looking for some advise / opinions on shooting organisations in Cambridgeshire. Essentially, I shoot a couple of times a year with friends (game and wildfowl), but would like to shoot more (Pigeon and Wildfowl) around Cambridgeshire. A bit of research the following seem interesting options – I would really value people’s opinions on the following organisations: (1) Cambridgeshire Fieldsports Association (2) Fenland Wildfowlers Association (3) Ely Wildfowlers (4) PX Farms (Pigeon Syndicate) Many thanks Dicker
