  1. Having just read your post again Hammergun i apologise for saying you had sympathy for the chechens i read it wrong
  2. i Like you Hammergun once had a little bit of sympathy for the Chechens. Never knowing what REALLY happened at the hands of the russian military. But taking women and children hostage on the first day of a new school year is really beyond comprehention. The rebels would know full well that the Russian army being what it is would mount a rescue attempt and hundreds of lives would be lost. Not caring whether they {the rebels} died or not but willing to take out young innocent lives for their "just cause" makes my blood boil. It is a shame they didnt ask for SAS help Im sure they would have done a much better job without any escapees to plot again. Im just glad i dont live in Chechnia because im sure its going to get very warm over there when Mr Putin has finished.
  3. Spot on YP Tiger Balm is the best. The best stuff to use if you dont want to get bitten in the first place is vinegar just a wee bit splashed about will keep the beasties off you.
  4. All the best for tommorow. Seventeen years ,You dont believe in rushing into things do you mate.
  5. do you stick the pigs or carry a rifle ? I reckon sticking that big un would be fun. :yp:
  6. Nice hogs mate where do you hunt ?
  7. I agree it is a huge pig but ive seen photos in the shooting press over here of pigs of similar size taken from Cape York.
  8. JMD Whatever you do mate dont go to New Zealand with that jacket on. There will be Kiwis in gumboots chasing you from all angles.
  9. Put a dab of kerosine on the little ******* that will get em off. :(
  10. As HG has said never rely on safety catches. When hunting water buffalo last year during a tea break i went back to the "ute" and upon finding a rifle with a closed action immediately opened it. Out popped a 300 grain round nose at my feet when confronting the owner he told me the bolt had been released onto the bullet and was not dangerous. After a few choice words i reminded the owner it only takes about 12 foot pounds of pressure onto the percussion cap to set off a round and driving on the tracks we had been on all day i class myself very lucky an accident did not happen. Always check twice.
  11. Like Cranfield has said it sounds like fit . Get the gun you used to shoot best with before and your new un put them them upside down ie. rib downwards onto a good straight table and check if there is a difference in height between the stocks and the table. A trap gun usually has a smaller measurement than say a sporter . This is a bit rough but you can get a quick idea of what if anything is different.
  12. Oh comeon boys just look at it as the forecast for Wankum tommorow!
  13. TP i used to have a pet redback spider called Shirley and i used to feed her all sorts of other insects. I tried a mantis once and that was nearly the end of her the mantis nearly ate poor Shirley. Have you tried any other food with her?
  14. TP no wonder he/she is so big a cricket a day thats a lot of tucker for a mantis.
  15. Was that website American ? I hope so .
  16. Toka, Have you tried a Sako Finnfire? if you can try before you buy compare the pair. With the Sako i can guarantee you will not have to re-bed.
  17. Make sure you get a good quality varmint rifle and any extra bedding should not be needed.
  18. The "Wigeon call" is what works best for me ten foxes in an hour off three stands in late afternoon.
  19. I have used one on olympic trench and it is a great gun , have not tried it in the field though.
  20. YP.....Now i know what happened to me . I feel so violated.........I will be more carefull in future mate. Thanks for the warning. Burp
  21. Butchers dog, years ago i to used to catch moles for farmers in return for shooting permission and charged either a pint a maudy or a quid each which ever the farmer preferred. It was that long ago, a pint used to cost about a quid how much is it now ? Top idea though every farmer hates moles and if you can catch em you will be in demand.
  22. Cakie the Finnfire is a prince amongst rifles it has out of the box accuracy allmost as good as a target rifle and you should be getting groups of 12-15 mm across with 5 shots at 50 metres with it . I personally would go a fixed power scope on a rimfire either a 4X or 6X. I shoot a lot of foxes with a .22 and have no problems with head shots out to 70 metres using winchester ammo . Site the gun in at 50 metres though and give it a bit if needed , i hope this helps.
  23. Keep the CZ its much more accurate and everyone i know who had a ruger sold it . Maybe Leon got the good one.
