  1. I can now slide a playing card between barrel and stock so I feel this is enough but the proof will be on the shooting! I will post when I have shot it. I would try in the morning as the wind should ease off over night but I will go for a stalk with the 243 in the morning if this is the case after a doe.
  2. Good stuff, as soon as this wind go (and now snow) I will get out with it and see how it is. Monday with luck.
  3. Thanks underdog, still enjoying your posts, I've just had 10 mins on YouTube and I have used a milk bottle to do just what u said!!! The barrel is now free floating, just need this gale force wind to go away then I will be out and try it out!
  4. Hi guys thinking about free floating my hmr, please could someone run how to do it past me? Is it as straight forward as say sanding down the stock to give clearance? Also bedding the action, could some one please say how this is done? All the best!
  5. Well guys I have found a bullet it likes!! Federal 100 grain was the clear winner out of the selection I bought, second came Norma 58 grain then Norma 75 grain and in last place was the Winchester 80 grain. At 130 yards got 3 in an inch circle with the federal so that should do well for a roe doe or red hind this evening if the fog clears!! Thanks for all the advise and help over the last few days!!
  6. At the min no moderator, will get one once I've shot a few beasts to pay for it. Just a lot of noise!!!! Ha ha.
  7. Thanks guys will get time after feeding tomorrow. I'm not the best shot in the world but I am a keeper so I can shoot a gun. I will shoot 3 bullets of each sort clean then give it a min to cool then next 3 and so on and so on. Will post tomorrow evening how I get on. Cheers
  8. Hello!! I've bought a selection of bullets today, Norma 58 and 75 grain federal 100 grain and I've still got some Winchester 80 grain. Will have a play over the weekend and let you all know what happens!!
  9. Scope not creeping and mounts on weaver rail nice and secure I'm thinking at this time it just needs bit more shooting in or bullet choice. But I am interested in any opinions, thoughts and suggestions. Thanks
  10. Ok thanks, I've put 25 throu it and will get proper padded out on top of the Land Rover tomorrow so I can eliminate any movement from me and then see what happens, I will go shop and get some heavyier and lighter grain bullets and see what happens. Will give you all an update, to be honest it did look like I had shot the target board with a shotgun shell of SSGs today! Please keep the posts coming!! Thanks again!!
  11. Ok thanks, I had 25 shots and yes it was better than when I started but the "group" was still about 3.5 inch. I've got 20 more of the bullets I've been using so will see how they go. What bullets you using?
  12. Sorry it's a 243. Yeah I did think should I try some lighter bullets I will get some tomorrow and try again tomorrow. I gave it a good clean before I started, halfway through and at the end, I fired 25 rounds. Thanks
  13. Good evening guys and gals, got my new browning a bolt today and decided to zero in this afternoon once the weather cleared up. Using Winchester super X 80 grain bullets. They went everywhere in about a 6 inch area!! Is it me, the bullets or the gun! I am a keeper so not being big headed or nothing but the scope is not moving etc. Scope is a new nikko Stirling diamond 3-12x56. Any advise great. Thanks
  14. Hi guys and gals. Just ordered a browning a bolt in 243, any recommendations on what ammo to put through it for best group etc, was thinking 75 to 95 grainers. Thinking of federal fusions as the reviews are good. Any advise or recommendations please. Thanks!!
