  7. Been using one of these hardback OS books for many years now and its a joy to turn the pages these days.... quite a bit of what used to be little permissions nowdays actually have joined up (I get the farmers to colour them in) as word gets around, I have permissions that spread many miles and now alot are adjacent so we can safely move from area to area. What Cranfield suggests is well worth doing, when you are talking to a farmer whip the book out and show him that his neighbour has already given you permission and 9/10 times your in. Another refinement is to write the contact number on the page should you need to call the farmer quickly. Rgds Rob.
  8. Hi chaps I need a quad, not that I,m getting old mind lol, anything with a bit of guts , road legal and front and back carrying racks considered. Pm me please if you know of one for sale. Cheers Rob.
  9. You will be going to Eastwell then? My friend Colin is an instructor there and I have had two sessions, the novice half day "taster" then the more advanced full day about 2 years ago. Great fun and you will enjoy it, they make defenders crawl up bare chalk slopes that you could only get up on your hands and knees! Pray for rain on the day and it will be hairy. Cheers Rob.

    sloe gin

I normally do some sloe gin every year and give several bottles as pressies, this year I have departed from the norm and made Blackberry Vodka, its delicious, very smooth. here,s the gubbins... 1lb granulated sugar 1lb very ripe Blackberries 1 70cl Bottle cheap Vodka Put it all in a sterilised demijohn bottle and leave it on the kitchen worktop for a week, everytime you pass give it a shake. Then store it at the back of the cupboard and try to forget about it lol, until next season starts. Someone recently told me he makes Strawberry Vodka, now that sounds nice over ice as a summer drink? A change from Pimms what, what, Must be similar to a Daiquiri, I think thats how its spelt Cheers and may your flask be forever full Rob.
  11. Boom Boom.... thats quite good lol. Cheers Rob.

  15. Hi chaps if there are any gen solicitors among us I could use a little advice concerning an item I bought which was mis-described and found to be faulty. Please pm thanks. Rgds Rob.
  16. Hi if mods dont mind, take a look on BBS NV sect, they have had major discussions on the new Yukon Digi Pulsar. even though the price seems attactive its still only gen1 and suffers the dreaded Digi pause, may only be a milisecond but take a shot at any range and what you saw quite simply is no longer the case when the round strikes. Digital NV is fine for spotting but not as a rifle sight. Cheers Rob.
  17. Questions, questions, questions lol. How you doin? Rob.
  18. Are Aldi doing one, saw a 5x50 digi Bresser scope in Lidle t,other day £99.99. Seems to be far superior to their last offering. Rgds Rob.
  19. Ordinary candle wax, worked for me many times. Rgds Rob
  20. Ive not tried this but have been told that if you can spray the trap from above with the wee from a freshly killed stoat, as you would wee a rabbit, then any remaining stoats are quite keen to join the party. Good luck and hope you dont lose anymore. Rgds Rob.
  21. Hi Mung, obviously the reasoning behind hopper feeding is to feed the birds but without them gorging quickly and #### off to the next parish, maybe the ones I am using differ to yours, I cannot imagine deer being able to pull mine out of the hole at the bottom of the drum, its far too tight a fit. What sort of season are you having? We have extraordinary numbers of Woodcock and yet its not been that cold, so far. Rgds Rob.
  22. You have my sympathy, been there and stopped doing it. Just be ready to move when a hard frost is forcast together with a fine sunny morning, they will be hungry for the first few hours and descend on the nearest available rape. Get your permission/possible hide positions sorted then wait, as said do your recces, time is never wasted just cruising and looking through the bins. Good luck, Rob.
  23. I too am against any form of litter left laying around the countryside, I have friends who all farm and shoot, they all allow me free range of their land which they regard as their garden, I would feel that I would be letting them down by littering. One thing is noticable in all the preceding posts no one until now has mentioned plastic wads, these should be banned except for use on licenced clay shooting grounds, they are not degradable and like the cases will lay around for years, in my opinion they are more dangerous than the cases which have at least a metal part to put animals off swallowing them. It will not be long before an act is passed to restrict their use. Off topic I know but have to mention my other pet hate and that is these mass releases of gas filled balloons into the air, where do they land? Do the people releasing them care, do they #####. Often these are released on some charitable pretense, many end up caught in the upper branches of trees and remain there for months others in the hay crop, baled up for animals to choke on. Rgds Rob.
