  1. Seems the obvious reason to most who go there but numbers have dwindled.
  2. Take a look at the extortionate prices for instruction on the internet, everything is really. Nick the owner will only let you shoot his own 7½ cartridges which are very expensive. It is no wonder he is way down on customers. We have stopped going there and several others who we were friendly with but he still charges excessively. Sorry, it is Priors Marston,
  3. There are so many to choose from, ask your mates what they use. The modern materials are so much superior but walking, beating through brambles???? just use the old one.
  4. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2386615/Police-inspect-eccentric-aristocrats-gun-collection-claims-protecting-public-mysterious-big-cat.html Before anyone jumps on me I want to make it clear that I am pro gun safety to the core. I have been involved on the perimeter of two LEGAL gun police seizures because a jealous ex girlfriend has lied to police and the police know this. Why do the police not prosecute for malicious lies, wasting police time? The last time, late last year 2 police arrived to seize an auto shotgun, they allowed the person to go upstairs alone and bring the gun down to them, stupid fools. It took several weeks to get said gun back and loads of unnecessary hassle over the phone with ********* at the station who knew very little about firearms. The firearms officer was only part time anyway, making it more difficult. The person complaining must be forced to make a signed detailed statement before police intervention. I have been stopped by police in the early hours of the morning with guns in my vehicle, they have inspected my licence, a quick look inside and I have been on my way PDQ. It is wrong IMO that police can seize your legal weapon so easily and without really good reason.
  5. I forgot to say that I have written this for someone else. This seems a good idea. The youngsters are disheartened and cannot afford to shoot every week like him. It is not about winning but this turning up at the last minute even peeves most of us,
  6. I am not very old and need encouragement as a learner, I do not want to be up against expert shots YET. A lot of those who attend a small clay shoot I go to for competitions are like me, not brilliant shots but enthusiastic and go out to enjoy the sport like I do. At almost the deadline for entry a certain person who is an EXPERT turns up and wins easily, this is how he earns money by taking advantage of learners or those far less capable. I seems he is just turning up to ROB us. I can see our small clay shoot falling to pieces if the owner allows this to carry on. The course setter has made it very difficult even for an expert to try to deter him but he is very good and still wins, we do not have a fair chance as we are nowhere near his league, it puts us off. I know this sounds like sour grapes but it is how we learners feel. John.
  7. My son is left handed and shoots right, my daughter os right handed and shoots left,
  8. I use it a lot on our Focus diesel which will be 2 years old on 1st, March. It is averaging 52.2 MPG now but in the summer reached 55 MPG. We are really pleased with it although it does not do the MPG claimed
  9. I have enjoyed reading your comments even if it has been a while. My first 525, the one made to fit was given me as a present at the end of 2011. Since then I have had a second new one as a present which I immediately had fitted to me, exactly the same. Luckily I have been in constant company with friends of my son who are all full time professional instructors so did not pay for fitting and advice. I have been invited as a guest to 3 shoots up to date where I have had a Mule driver loader at my side, I suffer with a back problem. My shooting has massively improved . I cannot lean into shots, have to stand erect, hence one reason for proper gun fitting. to suit. Both my Brownings now come up to my cheek into the same position every time, I do not even think about it, do not look down my barrels, just look at the bird/clay. I do not put my gun up too soon and play catch up, track the target unnecessarily, I now put my barrels to the target as I bring up my gun, the follow through is really important. I have learned a lot this year through proper instruction and it has not cost me much, lucky devil, must be my age or charm I can assure everyone who doubts, 'proper gun fitting by experts' has given me consistency as never before. I do tire easily so every little of expert advice is gratefully received. I only have one guaranteed shoot left now, might have to cough up a few shillings, I have two more irons in the fire, just hoping. If I were younger and fit I would consider taking a 'instructor course', alas I am a old geezer. Good luck guys.
  10. This makes my wee wee boil. The way to do it is to put him on a Jumbo jet, when he is over Lake Mead ask him if he wants a parachute or not.
  11. I have forgotten the name of this .177 rifle. Years ago I owned a .22 Ruger with a 10 shot rotary mag which was good. I have had some shots with this .177 and it is better than the .22. What do you reckon?
  12. My friend had a row with his EX girl friend who called the police out of malice stating by word of mouth only, never in a written statement, that he had threatened to shoot her with his shotgun, he claims he said no such thing, I believed him, I know him well. It took months and about £3000 in legal fees to eventually get his gun back even though she admitted she lied, she did not face any charges. The same thing has happened again, she called the police after a row, she is still his EX. 3 officers arrived and demanded to be admitted, one was a firearms officer who told my mate to surrender his shotgun, he told officer it was upstairs locked up, he was told to fetch it, he did, UNSUPERVISED, how irresponsible, he may have turned nasty, idiots. They kept him at the police station most of the day and eventually released him, without his shotgun and certificate. It took 2 weeks of talking to different ********* at the police station to get his property back. She again got off Scott free. Never right IMO. If he had been a BASC member would they have helped?
  13. Looked on the Internet, £15 each, robbing bleeders. Anyone know anything??
  14. http://i.imgur.com/1mupp.png Do you have one of these???
  15. Thank you all for your replies of which only 'Actionpigeon' read my post properly. I had the inconsistent mount because the stock was too long, I had persevered for a few months but always knew it was inevitable to have it fitted, I am delighted and much more consistently on target. Now that hurdle is over I want to concentrate on 'reading the clays path of flight' and using LESS gun movement, not chasing clays so much which was my lesson today. I know if I do it bit by bit I will get there. I have shot for quite a while but mostly ground quarry.
  16. I was taken to Honesberie Shooting School, Priors Marston today for a 'treat'. The 'treat' turned out to be a free walk around lesson with some coaching by a 12 year old lad. I am well into pension age and nearly fell off me 'Zimmer Frame' laughing, me being coached by a 12 year old lad, how insulting and ludicrous, BUT WAS IT??? This young lad, William, Wills for short is **** hot with his dads original 12 bore Browning 525, not only can he shoot but has a knack to instruct, explain. He is heading for stardom, I hope. If you get the chance, call in to Honesberie for looksee and a coffee, you will be amazed at the welcome you will receive. Good luck Wills and thank you.
  17. My adjustable hide poles are ones I used carp fishing and have corkscrew type threads which screw easily into the ground. These are 8 foot long, maximum.
  18. I have had my Browning 525 30 inch 12 bore since Christmas just gone and shoot good and bad with it, inconsistent mounting has been diagnosed. After taking professional advice using a 'try gun' I shot far better and more comfortable, I have now had my length of stock reduced by half an inch to give the same dimension as the 'try gun'. I will be trying my own gun this Wednesday under the watchful eye of my tutor to see how I go.
  19. Were Musto at the show themselves? I wanted a decent clay coat and vest but only got a VERY cheap vest, a bargain, £10 was a 'second', two patches of glue just inside the pockets, soon got that off.
  20. Oi have heard it is at Stoneleigh next year. Been today, enjoyed it but tiring for me wiv me back.
  21. Standard black. In 1000s I reckon.
  22. 4 different coaches have told me that I 'over think'. On a 1 hour lesson I 'do not over think' for the first half and do very well mostly, but the last half of the lesson I do, I try to make certain and do not do so well. If a target surprises me I get it, but one which gives me plenty of time I tend to miss. Must be me age, daft old bugg**.
