  1. they are a quality gun, very accurate indeed, i just found the breech too annoying for hunting the weight wasn't that bad because i was pretty damn fit when i had it. i may have a look at the hawkes and nikko's with maybe a chance of the new nikon ao
  2. thanks both, i've had hawkes, nikko's, tasco's, mtc's etc... so i know what im getting into with the scope, i was thinking of maybe a nikko stirling euro hunter..... i had a hawke panorama and for some reason- couldn't get on with it, but i may give them another chance i'm more thinking of length really, or does the hw98 cope with long scopes. by the way chris j painter; i think i experienced the pain of weight- i had a hw97 thumbhole, with a mtc viper on and a sak silencer with a sling to top it off. oh and a trigger shoe
  3. nearly 100% sure i'll be ordering one of these this week. so looking to get a scope 2nd hand, could you give me any models which you have on it or know that would likely fit atb tom 10x44 viper?
  4. cheers i'll have to have a look at the evolution vs fenman threads which im sure are out there
  5. you've sold me on it more now as far as spares and the gas ram servicing goes, how is that all done....? also is the recoil as harsh as hw97's etc... the hw80 doesn't really appeal to me much anymore, so i'm down to; hw98, hw95, fenman, maybe others if i read up on them (sirocco? others)
  6. i had a hw97 a few months ago and in the field i found the breech too awkward really, not unmanagable but just i find breakbarrels alot more ergonomical, and it was so annoying when i dropped the pellet in the port area...... imo you can load a break barrel without looking very easily when stalking etc....
  7. some great advice guys, from what i've heard around the place so far FOR BREAKBARRELS MAY I ADD! it seems to be hw80, hw98, fenman, and longbow......... the reason i'm not looking at underlevers is the loading speed..... what are fenman's like for reliability and tuning etc.....?
  8. which break barrel air rifle is your favourite and why? also what groups can you achieve with them....? atb tom
  9. it can kill as far as it can carry around 3ft lb's (around 150yards ish) as for what the norm is probably people shoot at 35yards, i was getting them at 45+ fairly often which a hw97 in .177. just depends how confident you are. PEA P- practice (how confident and able are you) E- environment (what re the conditions like) A- accuracy (how accurate is the pellet and rifle combination) atb tom
  10. much like you, i prefer the trajectory of the .177 as i can use higher mags. i have however noticed a few more runners with a .177 then with .22. now i am not a believer in .22 for hunting and .177 for target, as i just buy whatever calibre comes up. i hit a rabbit directly in the between the ears on the back of the head and it just ran off with a .177, a few other times they had ran or managed to scramble to their holes with normal head shots. my only explanation is their is less damage to the brain instantly so they have a small window of extra control. i did however get more rabbits in a shorter period of time with the .177 though (and that was a springer) compared to pcp. i would say, choose the gun you want first and the calibre later, if you have a choice go for .177. atb tom
  11. hi, i shot one of these a few days ago and absolutely loved it, i was offered a mint condition one to buy on tuesday. but now im starting to have my doubts; can anybody shed some light on the repley elites and the repairs and service behind the company. thanks tom

  15. thanks, i can't fault it, if i didn't have a bit of saved money i wouldn't be selling it on. so far i've had more people saying "it's lovely but i don't have the money at the moment" not in a rush to sell it though as it's a great gun
  16. hi, this is my sale page, i live south of leicester near market harborough
  17. probably used, i can get about £750 all together, but i would have nothing but pellets left. i can borrow a pump for a while of a friend but would need a scope and case at least
  18. no it's just the ones within budget and that i know about. i've not got a short list yet as i need to sell my 7month old hw97 thumbhole
  19. not really looked a theoben or falcons, pretty sure typhoons are fx i did have a falcon prairie cs which was quite nice, why what are you thinking?
  20. but if you can get down to a club and have a bash with some of your options that's gonna be the way to go. you're the one that has to live with it so get a good feel of them and have a play. I had a play with the HW100 and whilst it is a great gun, I found it just too heavy, so a lot of these things are personal preferences thanks, i don't shoot at clubs as i do all mine in the field or in the garden, i've shot r-10's, s-10 mk1 and a hw100 alot. for me the hw100 is actually not that heavy as im used to a 6kg hw97 and i used to play rugby i may pay a visit to kibworth gun club though
  21. they are pretty, i nearly bought one last year got to say though, ripleys are lookers and a half
  22. AAHHHH CAN'T DECIDE WHICH PCP IF ANY TO GO FOR.....:confused: maybe another option that i haven't considered. for me it's like this; s410- a bit common with no massive advantage hw100- accurate and reliable but boring to shoot scorpion- compact and a good looking hunter r-10- a scorpion with a more shot's and just bigger more well finished s-10- an r-10 without a gauge, quickfill but to me better looking huntsman- an expensive scorpion x2- same as s410 but looks a bit better. merlyn- not really sure typhoon- looks not great but has the features for less. i not worried whether its regulated or not as my hw97 isn't i personally am looking mainly at hw100, scorpion, s-10 and maybe r-10's, why and what?..... thankyou tom
