  1. I've got the spitfire - it's worked absolutely perfectly twice! - although I don't get out very often just for foxes, I tend to shoot the bu**ers from a high seat when trying for the fallow on our permission. Other members of my Syndicate have used it and report mixed results - I think it's like everything else, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - even squeaking will make some charge towards you and some turn tail! Overall though, I think it's good to have in the armoury. One further point - the "crow" calls on the Spitfire work brilliantly when you're trying to get those "close" wildlife photos
  2. Yeah, that'll help! - our shoot covers this year were pretty rubbish, so don't have that option - just have to go back to the woods on Saturday
  3. Bit better roosting this Saturday - 11 (for 13 shots!) so much happier - still doesn't seem to be the same numbers about as previous years though.
  4. Hi Sharpshooter - our shoot is in the Glemsford/Long Melford area and, although there are birds about on the numerous rape fields, they don't seem to be using our woods like they have in previous years. Having said that, the woods are still full of pigeon ****, so I'm now thinking that they may have just been roosting elsewhere over the cold snap. We're out again this Saturday, so I guess I'll find out!
  5. Ok - now completed two Saturday roosts and I don't think I've ever seen fewer pigeon. I've shot 4 and 3 respectively, and compared with the same Saturdays last year (53 & 49) and the previous year (41 & 43), I'm seriously considering skipping the rest of February!. It's not just me though, as we're a syndicate and we had 10 people out each day spread over our six woods, and we've had 23 and 29 in total for the days - with everybody reporting the same lack of birds about. Having read various other threads, I know there seems to be generally fewer around, but is it just my area of Suffolk that's EMPTY?

Foxpro Spitfire for me - took some fantastic Magpie photos in the woods Saturday
  7. Hi to all from sunny Suffolk - I've been checking through the forum for some time (don't know why I didn't join before really)and it really seems to offer something for everyone. Measly 4 pigeon Saturday from my favourite roosting wood that's always been reliable before, and that was after I'd been watching 500 to 1,000 birds on the rape fields around the shoot - weird!
