  1. I am now 16 but neither of my parents hold certificates, if I posses a SGC can my parents "gift" me a shotgun for my own possession despite them not owning Shotguns themselves? Sticky
  2. Hi, I have been looking at getting this cabinet http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-GUN-CABINET-HIGH-SECURITY-3-SHOTGUN-RIFLE-GUN-CABINET-GUN-SAFE-/290642298355?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item43aba185f3#ht_3179wt_1107 for my shotguns when the SCG arrives, however I do not know how I am going to store my cartridges, I realize that it is not a requirement but I would like to make a good impression on the police, also I cannot afford for one of the higher quality Brattonsound gun safes with top locking boxes, do you have any suggestions on how I could safely store my cartridges and is there anway I can make my own rack/divider so that the safe will store more guns? Many thanks, Sticky
  3. +1 For the Greek Islands, went to Kos last summer, had a fantastic holiday at a small boutique hotel called the Diamond Deluxe Hotel, has its own beach and was away from all the major resorts and hubub, although it was still close enough to not feel isolated. It was about a 20min walk or cycle to Kos Town and there were regular buses into the town. Another option could be the Canary Islands, but be careful to choose a villa as some of the hotels are very much "Benidorm" style, Lanzarote is a great island with lots to do and explore. You could also try the Channel Islands, close to home but with weather you would expect to find in the south of France. My personal favorite is Jersey but you have to explore all of them to decide which is your favorite. Hope this helps, Sticky
  4. Yes thank you very much, two questions: do they have hire guns until I get my certificate and is their the opportunity to practice on your own without tuition?
  5. Afternoon all, I have been thinking about maintaining and refurbishing my grandfathers old air rifle from the early sixties and I was wandering if I could use Boiled Linseed Oil to both stain and maintain the furniture of this rifle and my other air rifles? Also are the Napier cleaning products for Shotguns and air rifles as good as they seem or are they a waste of money? Many thanks, Sticky
  6. I'm not a driver myself (yet) but what really annoys me is people zooming through our village as if its an unrestricted zone, the speed limit is 30 for a reason and who knows if there might be a young child on their bike or a horse rider or old dear popping to the letter box. It really urks me. And another thing is when those t***s go to overtake you on a bend when you are obeying the speed limit. I usually just utter "yeah, i'll see you bent round a lampost just up the road" it normally calms me down. So there's my two cents, Sticky
  7. Thanks a lot. Did you do this as well?
  8. Hi all, I have almost finished filling out my SGC form but have just thought of something, I printed the form off the website but i wondered if that would be ok instead of collecting one from the local police station. Will it still be fine? Sticky
  9. Hi, As a newbie myself to clay shooting, I invested in a course of three introductory lessons which covered all the basics of clay shooting. It is a big cost, but I feel that it is justified as it gives you the foundation on the sport, I personally believe that it would be a waist of money having a shotgun if you did not know how to shoot. Sticky
  10. Is this one on a farm by the main road? As I think I may know the location. Many Thanks, Sticky
  11. Hi Chaps, As I am recently getting into Clay Shooting, I was wondering if anyone knew or could recommend any informal clay ground/shoots near the Newbury area in West Berkshire? This is because it is quite expensive going to the Shooting School for practice rather than say a farm or similar. Many Thanks, Sticky
  12. I'm not sure if it's too much of a Trek for you but you could try Lains Shooting School near Andover, they are very good and reasonably priced as well Sticky
  13. Hello all, I just had my first lesson of three today at Lains Shooting School near Thruxton, I have to say that it was the most enjoyable thing I have done in a long time and I can't wait to have my next lesson. My instructor Shaun was great and I even managed to hit 23/25 clays on my first go! Sticky
