  1. Hi guys, So after speaking to the feo the other day and trying to avoid having to find a mentor (dsc, organised events etc etc) because all the people I know don't shoot normal game or vermin locally, I am in need of a friendly, knowledge mentor for centrefire rifles. I am looking for someone in the local area, Lancashire, merseyside, Cumbria, greater Manchester, Chester that would be willing to take me out with them using a centrefire. Also one that would be willing to Mentor me with these rifles so I can get my own at some point. If it makes any difference I am 23 Years of age, i can drive and do own a car. I am friendly, love having a laugh with like minded people and enjoy good company of any age. I have been shooting air rifles for many years. I currently had had my licence near on a year and own shotguns and rimfire rifles. I would prefer it to be local but I am willing to travel. I would also be willing to contribute towards ammunition etc. Regards Jon
  2. Hi, Welcome to the forum. I'm based near Preston and have transport, always on the look out for a new friend/partner/place to shoot. Was just over your way in saddleworth today having a quick shoot. Regards Jon
  3. Got a reply back, apparently they cant date it due to the serial being an old type. Anyone else able to I.D. it for me? Jonathan
  4. Thank you very much, i have contacted them now. Much appreciated
  5. Thanks alot, But unfortunately i do not have that many numbers where the serial is i only have 6 digits plus 2 digits forthe Gauge and 2 for the Chamber size. jon
  6. Sorry my fault, the stars are just blanking out part of the serial, i have corrected this. It is also a multichoke. Regards jon
  7. Hi guys, I have recently bought a Lanber Multiechoke o/u, unfortunately i dont know the mode number. i have read around the net and found a way of understanding the serial number, but my serial number is laid out differently. my number goes like: ****** 12-70 (serial blanked out) Now i know that 12 is the gauge and 70 is the chamber size, correct? but i do not understand the rest. I also have marking on the barrel (imagine pointing the gun away from you to shoot something) On the left hand side of the barrel: Top Barrel - 18.5 Bottom Barrel - 1470 gmos 18.5 1.2 On the Right hand side of the barrel: Top Barrel - 3 symbols 1200Kp/cm2 Bottom Barrel - 3 symbols 1200Kp/cm2 Now im guessing the barrel markings are the Proofing numbers? Any help would be appreciated on this. Regards Jon
  8. I have permission on the land i shoot on to control pests and vermin and to stop the damaging crops. Well considering it was on a field that had just had cropped planted and it was having a go at these. I don't just shoot for fun, I'm there to do a job aswell so to speak.
  9. So I got my hmr on new years eve and ever since I've had zeroing issues. Shooting miles off etc, finally got it close but couldn't get it anywhere near accurate. Shooting all over. Even after going bad to the shop twice, even for the owner to set it up at his house. So at the beginning of the week I borrowed my mates bipod(bloody great price of kit!!!) and got it to where I wanted i finally. Cost me a lot in ammunition! After a stressful week and a relaxing day as its my bday, I decided to go out before the sun went. I hit the first field and immediately spotted a hare, unfortunately I was 10 feet from a main road, so I stalked up for about 30 yards and got within 70yrds or so. Got into prone and bam...... My first blood with my hmr and my first ever hare! I then hit the second field and walked about 50 yards, saw a rabbit and hit the deck. Setup and took the shot..... Heard a tiny squeak and saw it back flip a couple of times and fall into the ditch along side. It was a lot further a shot than I though, well it was 220 yards paced out. Unfortunately I could not retrieve the bunny . I then hit another field but it was to ark by the time I got there so turned around for home. I looked all over the hare but couldn't see any entry or exit wound, very confused...... And also it is bloody big, took me by surprise how big it was!
  10. Hi guys. So I do not seem to be getting on with my scope so I'm after a new one but do not now what to get. I shoot all sorts of ranges from 30 yards upto 100+ yards on quite large areas. The gun is a cz452 .17. Looking not to spend loads but maybe upto £100ish?

    The police!

So I was out with my mate on a random drive, as we do regularly when bored. Tonight we ended up in Liverpool. What we nioticed was, there was a lot of police about for a Monday night. We had a few follow us for a while, well maybe they were just going the same way? Luckily I didn't get pulled (all down to my sensible driving....... Lol). I got the the Albert docks n drove in with a police car following me, thinking oh **** it's a 10mph zone. How the hell am I gonna do ten? I can crawl faster!! Luckily he turned off and I carried on happily until I came to the lights at the single lane going behind the echo arena on a bend. We Sat for a while at a red until the same car came up behind me. We started to laugh as these lads in the police car seemed very young and were the spit for Gavin and smithy of Gavin and Stacey. Now the light seemed to be taking its time, the police seemed to of got bored and started to drive past me, thinking he's about to jump it, he rolled down his window and Gavin started to talk. He said "alright lad, I think der broke, we're gonna give em a blast with the blues. You can follow us if you like" to which I said, alright, thanks with a big thumbs up and us in hysterics while tring to follow the polic through the lightson red. Now I know this may not seem funny to some and it's probably 'you had to be there' moment, But we found it hilarious and wanted to share. It really does paint the police in a different light!
  12. As above. If I remember correctly they get something like 40% of all purchases so they arent complaining.
  13. It does sound like a good idea but there are many issues that come into it; Who would own the land? Would it be limited? Solely owned? A charity? Etc.... Where would you place the land to make it fair for all members? How would you regulate who can and can't use it and when they can and can't use it? who would look after the land? Dish out permissions? Etc The above are just a few questions/issues, there are still many to look at/overcome!
  14. Congrats on the move forward and good luck with it. I know how hard it is ATM, I see many a people and businesses going bust nowadays as I do insolvency. Not nice to say the least at least you got out good Only worth going limited if you will be getting credit with suppliers or bank etc and do not have to sign any personal guaranties. otherwise there is really not much of a benefit to doing so. By the sounds of it the accountant has sorted this. Just make sure your accountant is good, I come up against bad accountants daily who don't pay much attention to their clients apart from when they first got them and once a year for accounts prep.
