  1. Its different over here, must be a cabinet bolted to the wall, but for the cost of a cabinet and the security it gives you id rather have the cabinet. Especially if like me you have a kids running around.
  2. If your traveling by car, i think but dont quote me on it a vehicle safe might be acceptable. But of course thats a fair outlay for single visit.
  3. Iv heard about the new fee being £120 by end of year, not about the variation being £70 a go, didnt want to pay the £26 never mind paying that!! Think it might be time to get finger out n get my .22lr sorted out sharpish!!
  4. I appoligise things must have changed from i travelled with my father and his guns. Best to look up the psni website for more info for your own piece of mind.
  5. Theres no problem with the liscense respect as we are technically the same country, ours are valid there and vice verca. What way do you intend traveling? Boat by car is easiest, and safest thing as can hide the gun outa plain sight hopefully in vehicle safe broken down, that way doesnt technically leave you position at anytime. going by plane is a little more hastle but is still fairly easily done with the bigger airlines, likes of ryanair or flybe dont really want to know generally. I dont like this way personaly as you have to intrust the gun to them and hope it stays in one piece in the hold.
  6. Forgetting the fact thats its for work purposes, for the minute anyway, any permanent building requires planning permission. i.e. anything that is not a timber garden shed. even then size comes into play. my parents once had a shed that was 30ft x 20ft and we had the council up with us but as itd had been there for some 15years they told the new neighbour they had bought there house knowing it was there. lol If he has applied you will have to have been notified months in advance about it and given the opportunity to appeal the building. as for how close he can build, he can build as close as he can feasably get to his boundary even if thats 2" off your house. However if its for work thats a whole other ball game due to noise and unreasonable fire risks etc. etc. that is of couse if he has owned up to using it for work purposes. Which i doubt by sounds of it. Id contact the planning board and see if it has got planning and quickly as if its up for a certain time without objections he doesnt have to take it down. back in the day this is how alot of farmers built their sons houses. theyd build them hidden behind tree lines and as theyd been up for years with nobody even knowing they existed they couldnt knock them down and become a legitamet house. Anyway best of luck with the neighbour.
  7. All being well i will be attending with my nephew, hes actually from dromara, dromore road i think. He only ever goes clay shooting with me so unlikely youll know him. Heres the link to the game fair thread, http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/196226-first-northern-ireland-pw-convention/page__p__1679074__hl__moira__fromsearch__1#entry1679074
  8. Not that im aware of, i think from reading it last there was talk of just having a meeting point. Cant remember to be honest.
  9. Iv got a bettinsole diamond i picked up for £500 from shop, great little gun and its in top notch shape and had all the kit still with it. Nice jeweling on side of chamber too, i had to extend the stock but that was fit problem than anything wrong with gun.
  10. There is a suprising number on here from our little country, im from ards myself but stick to the clays for now until my shot improves. Lol And as vulpicide has said iff possible get along to thr moira fair, theres a thread on here somewhere about it and the first ni pigeon watch meet. Anyways welcome and enjoy the reading.
  11. Thanks ill maybe try get down this week sometime have a look at it. iv been told also tannoky are quite rifle orientated, anyone know how are they with there prices? All being said mccloys new shop is quite nice, gun room is quite impressive as are all his prices, but for the wrong reasons mind,
  12. E It was mccloys id went to yesterday, the fella was quite helpful but i was shocked by the price of some of his stock. I dont like strong arming people but suppose its the only way to get decent deal somtimes.
  13. I didnt think they checked anymore but the police did ring the farmer and went out and walked his land when i applied for my licence, the farmer has his own shotguns so unless they just fancied a leisurly dander about some fields to pass the day?? Lol Ill maybe go back and try haggle him down a little, altho seeing as my closest rfd hollow farm doesnt really deal with sales of rifles much, he might not mind me getting one sent to him as he gets pretty much all mine and my nephews business for carts n the clays, so would get the rimfire too. Food for though, thanks for info guys.
  14. Iv been thinking about getting a rifle this last week for some rabbit on my permission, i have a. 22 air rifle but would prefer the powder burner. Lol just more fun, the feo did go out and check my permission for the air rifle so hopin they wont need to go again for the rimfire. Ive been looking about online at the cz thumbhole 16" . 22lr for £450 odd much better than the "local" shops will sell them. About £550 I havnt tried the old can you match the online price yet. But my question is as this will be my first rifle and the way norn iron fac works with technically needing to buy the rifle first before applying, how would it work with buying from the mainland and shipping to the rfd? it might be something id need to enquire with the shop about puting deposit down getting a receipt for variation request then if it passes ok then get it shipped to rfd? Thanks in advance.
  15. Does country sports in ards not fill tanks? I know they sell pcp rifles but not sure about fill ups.
