  1. My initial grant was for 1000/1200 Buy & Hold .22rimfire, after 6 months I asked to increase to 2000/3000 for batch consistency & this was granted without issue. West Mids/Staffordshire licencing if it helps.
  2. The least said about my clay shooting the better would have been better throwing the carts at the clays Nice to meet up with everyone again & will prob see you all at the UBC meet later in the year
  3. I know the RFD's have to make a profit but when the guns are all coming from one supplier/importer some of them do take the p!ss For example at the lower end of the market, a New Winchester SXP on Guntrader from £329 to £399 with many prices inbetween & one fantasist asking £495  Why does one dealer think he warrants £70 more if the one selling at £329 is happy with his profit margin ? (I'm ignoring the £495 nut job)
  4. I applied for 12 slots (9 guns 3 Moderators) on my 1st FAC application (Club shooting only) & got them all BUT I did have good reason (all calibers used in competitions at my club) , enough safe storage for them all & more (Including my shotguns) & a decent alarm/security system. The only issue now is affording to fill all the slots
  5. Scopes over 4x magnification are ITAR restricted along with many other things, the yanks get very jumpy about shooting stuff leaving the states & getting into the hands of terrorists which is a bit rich considering the amount of arms they sent over to the "freedom fighting" Taliban to overthrow their Russian oppressors
  6. As per usual anything by the RSPCA is full of errors (Lies) Under their heading of "The Law & Air Rifles" they have this little gem :- " Air weapons cannot be used within 50 feet of the centre of a highway." Which is a paraphrase of the law & totally misleading, but then again as the law over this is not clear...... The Highways Act 1980 Section 161 in England and Wales, makes it an offence without lawful authority or excuse to discharge any firearm within 50 feet of the centre of the highway and in consequence of which the user of the highway is injured, interrupted or endangered. This does not apply to footpaths and bridleways. But several Police forces websites when quoting airgun/firearm law state :- It is also an offence to discharge a firearm, including an airgun, within 50 feet of the centre of any highway. This includes roads, bridle-paths or public footpaths. The offence is complete if a member of the public is injured, endangered or even just alarmed by the incident. Tellingly the above is never preceeded by the act or section that makes this law
  7. Glad you like it & great to meet you, I reckon the SXP saw more use yesterday after I left than in the entire time I owned it Unfortunately it now means I'm no longer a member of Pump Club hopefully I can rejoin soon as I hope to purchase a Benelli Supernova FAC in the near future.
  8. $229 + $20 shipping but they don't ship outside the USA so had to send it to a friend in New Orleans who then sent it on to me at a cost of $63 (I don't want to convert it from $ to £ coz the cost might scare me ) Top magazine is fake & just a storage box for 40 rounds of .22LR (handy for when you forget to grab a box out the safe) yep loads as a standard 10/22 ,standard & extended mags fit in a opening just below ejection port Sorry to the OP for hijacking the thread
  9. No the Red Jacket one is called a ZK-22 & not especially styled after the P90 Mine is a HTA 90/22 from these guys http://www.hightowerarmory.com/default.asp
  10. Nice one, I do like the synthetic & stainless look. I shoot my 10/22 more than my 3 other .22 rimfires & have just put it in a new bullpup stock. Not everyones cup of tea but great fun doing Practical & Mini Rifle down the range
  11. As far as I am aware there is only one member of admin staff left in West Midlands Firearms licencing, all the rest of the staff have left (FEO's included) . There is a shared services agreement with Staffordshire Firearms licencing & once your application has been processed by the staff member at Lloyd House (West Mids) it will be passed on to Staffordshire to deal with. I had an email conversation with Staffs licencing at the end of last month to confirm that they ddid not yet have full access to the West Midlands computer systems & that was slowing things down somewhat.
  12. Have a look at http://www.umarexboysclub.co.uk theres a wealth of knowledge on BB,pellet & airsoft guns in the forum. Including buying from Europe & having them delivered to your door (face to face sale only applies to new airguns bought in the UK)
  13. Many thanks, I'll give them a bell tomorrow once I get back from the range (only a .22LR day) Incidentally I used to work within spitting distance of the proof house in the late 80's however the landscape around there has changed somewhat since then.
  14. Cheers, any idea how much it costs to get a cartridge recipe proofed?
  15. I'm after some opinions on the below slug recipe please (yes I do have slug conditions on my FAC ) Fiocchi 67mm hull with 616 primer 26grain Vectan A1 3mm overshot card 20mm Fibre wad 33gram Lyman Forster style slug frangible disc (purely to stop the roll crimp tool from cutting into the top of the slug) Roll crimp down to 62mm The load is for range work practice at beween 30-50 meters with my Winchester SXP (pump action) Does it sound reasonable or should I buy a cheap single barrel & a piece of string to test Any advice appreciated
  16. My favourite FAC contition being discussed on another forum at the moment is:- "can only be carried when proceeding to or returning from a port of embarkation, it shall not be fired in the UK" It is a S1 firearm so I assume the firearm is for large game abroad, but how exactly is the owner supposed to collect his new purchase from the RFD
  17. After having no response to emals & phone calls from West Mids Fireams Licencing for 3 weeks now, I sent an email to Staffs Firearms on Saturday 18th. 7:30 am Monday morning I had this response:- Hello Mr ********* I can confirm that the merger of the two firearms licensing departments isstill going ahead. We haven't completely merged yet but we are doing somework for them. Depending on what your query is we may well be able to helpbut we haven't yet got access to many of their systems. RegardsP*** ******Firearms LicensingStaffordshire Police Very speedy response to a weekend email, I hope that bodes well for all of their services.
  18. The plug in the US version is there to restrict capacity when hunting certain species & removable for when you are not.
  19. I was looking into increasing my SXP 2+1 as I now have a slot for a section 1 shotgun & what I found was There are 2 small lugs at the cap end which hold a spring cap in place, these would need to be filed down to allow cartridges to pass through & not sure how thick the tube is there. After a lot of searching I found a US forum where a guy used a Tac Star mag extension for a Winchester model 1200/1300 & it's a straight fit on their SXP Defender model Basically the SXP isn't really designed to just bolt on a mag extension regardless of whether it's 2+1 or 4+1
  20. I was showing an ex military, now private security chap round the airsoft bit, he wanted to buy some airsoft Glock 17's for his team to do practice drills with with whilst in the UK (cheaper than Deact's). He couldn't get his head round that he can't buy an airsoft due to the VCRA & no valid defence for UKARA but he's got his own FAC,a club FAC, SGC & a glock over in the Isle of Man.
  21. Well I can only state that it won't be prosecutable under Section 5, as to PSG & Section 1 only as per usual It's as clear as mud Thankfully I've got a slot on my FAC for a sect 1 shotgun for PSG & Clays
  22. I just replied on the other thread but the CPS website (which is often more up to date than web based firearms regulations) shows no mention of folding or adjustable stocks in the regulations. So as Andy said as long as your barrel is over 24 & overall length is over 40 http://www.cps.gov.u...g/firearms/#a14
  23. http://www.cps.gov.u...g/firearms/#a14 Section 5(1)(ac) any self-loading or pump-action smooth-bore gun which is not an air weapon or chambered for .22 rim-fire cartridges and either has a barrel less than 24" in length or is less than 40" in length overall, e.g. self loading shotguns; The bit about folding & adjustable stocks is not there anymore
  24. When my FEO came round for my SGC interview he inspected my 5 gun cabinet & said "you'll get 7 or 8 in there" When he came round for my FAC interview (13 slots) he asked if I'd got more storage capacity, I showed him my additional 2 cabinets (8 gun & 6 gun) & he said i'd be ok for 25 in total before he would have any concerns.
