  1. IF I had one it'd have been the end of the decade when I worked there...! Keep finding odd items in different boxes as I try to de-clutter
  2. Need to find a few different 20-bore chokes. Mossberg 500 thread, so Browning will also do, as will Winchester. Only have one, so looking for a few different options Also looking for a spare Mossberg 500 barrel in 20 bore. Let me know if you have anything available - length, choke type, vent rib/plain, moderated. etc. Thanks

    MEC 600 JNR

Not got one, sadly, but IF I can chip in....? My first MEC was one of the above. Made really good ammo, BUT, the re-size part of the procedure was not as silent as I'd have liked. Ended up getting a MEC SizeMaster instead - all but identical to the 600 Jr, but it uses an adjustable collect sizer; silent and very easy to use/adjust. Just thought this model was also worth you keeping a look out for as they are also around at not too different a price to the 600
  4. Is there no way to use some of the liquid gasket type stuff, to either repair the old one, or take the place of it? I know that with water cooled engines it used to be common to add "water glass" to the radiator to fix a damaged head gasket without having to remove it
  5. Mate in the gun club has asked for help finding an M96 standard Mauser bolt action. He's not bothered if it is a Carl Gustafs or a Husqvarna, or has any preference to year of manufacture If anyone knows of a private seller with one available, or a smaller RFD who may have one on the rack, etc. Thanks
  6. There is a dedicated dealer in such things - I think he trades as "the bayonet man" Had a few rare ones off him over the years Will possibly be in the local militaria shop now he is open again, so I will report back any SMLE types which he has. Any particular year you are after?
  7. Surprised it was a senior officer....though senior does not necessarily mean they reached that rank as a result of time spent on patrol, etc. The worst example I saw a few months back was from New York, possibly the transit system police. It had happened a few years ago. Police officer shoots & kills an unarmed man who was walking away up some stairs - he got five years probation!!
  8. Who said that they should/could NOT take the SGC?? Re-read my statement
  9. While I can understand the logic of taking the shotguns into secure storage, a lot of what else was taken and how it was taken is a little strange. The paperwork aside from the SGC is NOT Police property, so the police have no right to take it. While you do need an SGC or FAC to buy shotgun cartridges, anyone can possess them without an SGC/FAC - so that part of the "seizure" is also questionable...! Seems like a definite case of consult a lawyer and raise a few questions regarding the why's and wherefores of what has just happened. Hope you get it sorted out soon

    BBC

The BBC has a legal charter to collect the licence fee, as it is authorised to do so through it's provision of a national unbiased broadcast network over TV, radio, etc. Understood and accepted... The problem is, the BBC of recent years has failed to comply with the terms of its own charter, as it is is provably NOT impartial. The BBC idea of presenting a balanced argument is to interview a Marxist spokes-person and a Socialist party spokes-person, with maybe a few sound bites from the BLM, Muslim Council of the UK, University of Cambridge Centre of Middle Easter Studies Feminist Goat Juggling Dept. & similar speakers = a good percentage of same will likely have a US accent, yet be tenured in the UK. The BBC needs to have its charter withdrawn immediately. Let them compete in a free market-place. Far too much money is wasted by the beeb on vanity projects and minority interest channels at the expense of their core audience, or what should be the core, with dropping viewing/listening figures by the day - sick of the woke agenda and politically driven content across all the platforms...
  11. I've given bottles away to fellow MEC users. The ones I have a good few of, most of the time, are very heavy duty plastic with the same thread as the MEC inverted "caps" - and they are from an American brand of leather treatment manufacturers. Must be a default US thread thing... Prior to that, there was a UK supermarket own brand of steam iron scented water (as if there was a demand for such things!) which was very cheap to buy and then became a source of a fairly strong small bottle. I have a couple of them around somewhere, unless management dropped them in the recycling. Good to see that a few other options are out there to save folk a few quid
  12. MUCH as I am tempted, I will not post the Charlie Hebdo cartoon of young 'Arry & his bride at the graveside. It is in very bad taste. It is also VERY appropriate... The one below does fit in I think:
  13. Will be taking my .357 out for an airing at the range next weekend. Already have a couple of hundred rounds made for it - but I may make up another 300 or so - better take them and bring a few back than not take enough
  14. Duz want !! NICE! .32WCF (.32-20) is a cracking little caliber for a '92 and cheap as chips to reload.
  15. Had an 1894 for some years, 45 Colt Trapper. Loved it and shot it in a lot of comps Only negative was it had a modern dimple safety and needed some tuning of the springs, etc. Replaced it with a modern 45 Colt Trapper take-down Win. 92, one of the amazing Miroku made guns. Slick is not the word...I'd not handled a smoother lever action Until I got an older Browning BL-92 companion gun for it, in 357, also made by Miroku, but some decades ago - so it's had a little use and settled in somewhat. Even smoother than the new take-down version...! I am reminded that a mate offered me a 44-40, with WW1 UK military markings & I turned it down, I think because of the caliber. Now, an old '92 in .32-WCF, (.32-20).well, that would be a definite purchase. Someone at the club has one, it's a real beauty.

    FREE 410

Cheers....will get an extra rubber band on the dachshund so he's up to full power....
  17. A couple of good blokes. I had a custom knife made by them, still got it. Used to see them at the shows here & there, plus visited their house a few times. Very well known and well respected. Would not hesitate to buy a knife of theirs as long as it was of the type I go for/collect

    FREE 410

Shame - been off-line all afternoon - and within dog walking distance too..!!
  19. WRONG. On both counts! As per the cut & paste definition above this reply, it is EXACTLY what I was suggesting - the law does not state that all the shot in a S2 cartridge MUST be the same size. The Act ONLY states the Maximum dia. of shot, above which an FAC is required and the Minimum qty. of shot, below which an FAC is required. Until I noticed their sneakily having removed them from the ammo tables last month, I am(was) allowed to own S1 ammo in 20-bore & 10-bore. My permission for 12-bore S1 ammunition seems to have been left alone; just as well, as it has been on my FAC for close to 2 decades..! When I pick up my next .410 I may have that S1 ammo slot added as well. My Firearms Licensing Officer is about the only member of Durham Firearms Dept. who has not been named in legal action by myself last week. I use the wording of the Firearms Acts as a way to ensure correct legal compliance with firearms laws - Durham make their own rules up as they go, to suit themselves. Too many folk in that role think they are there to invent new laws, not purely act as the administration branch to carry out the issue and renewal of certificates as stipulated by Parliamentary rulings & guidance I have had some FEO's in the past who I am still in contact with and I class them as good friends; some of them were at the time also working for departments who had varied interpretations of the Acts, etc.; not all FLO/FEO's are equal....!
  20. The definition of S2 ammunition is what?
  21. Lots of good info from a few experienced reloaders on YouTube Also, there is a dedicated 410 website, called "four ten dot org dot uk" As to the buckshot, use the largest legal ball that will fit the case...then add smaller shot to bring the shot quantity in line with S.2 requirements Also look at all brass hulls as they last better than plastic, but tend to be shorter. Donor 303 brass, or 444 brass, or CBC 410 hulls are some of the options For wads, felt or fibre are another option, or not, as some locations specifically forbid/ban plastic wads - so they then become the only real option. The good thing is that with a wad punch and some donor material you can become self sufficient for wads/overshot cards - and the DIY option also makes you less reliant on the small UK supply chain
  22. News said he was 54 No age... I'd posted a thread on it a few minutes before yours

  24. Thanks Mark The .410 Lee Loader was the set that's walloped wiv an 'ammer. Seen some of the long discontinued.410 models on Ebay USA, along with the 10-ga Lee Loader sets. Sales prices in excess of $200 per kit are common..!! THIS set, is up to $120 and has around 3 days to go: Funny that the "choice" of load date was so extensive, naming only one combo - 3/4-oz charge of shot & 15.2grain of 2400 powder! Thanks for posting the name of the modern copy of the above. Been looking for it on YouTube and Ebay but it was not showing up. Now I have the name again I should be able to track one down...it'll get the job done until a better press or conversion dies for one of the presses I have can be found. I was convinced I'd bought a one of the above 410 kits, but when I checked it was a couple of different 12-ga kits and a 16-ga kit.
