  1. Another year passes, members come and go, so... (i.e. if you search this forum back over the years you will find similar posts from me!) 3 Full or some half guns available for safe guns (ideally with dog) for long established (60th year!) syndicate shooting north west of Pickering (North Yorkshire). 1800 birds down to (mainly) woodland. Shooting Every Wednesday 1st November onwards, Half guns shoot (about) every other week - tweaked a bit to ensure that they get to shoot all the drives. Costs About £1000 for half gun, around £1900 for full - (can't remember exact prices!) . about 14 days shot in total. Cropton forest. Bags in the 50-80 average - but several will break the 100 barrier- particularly in late season. Long established shoot, ( I am advertising for the big cheese, but address questions to me by pm in first place) 16 guns per day, 8 per team. typically 6 drives per day, hot pies after 2nd drive - shoot through then go to local pub for slap up dinner for around a tenner. Walk/Stand format, and everyone gets involve with shoot running - average about one workday per month (which are actually quite fun!) and some feed distribution during the season. Shoot has trailer to transport people around rather than a convoy of vehicles. PM for full details.
  2. Well folks, two of you have taken up the offer - just one gun remains! - of course the Zombie Apocalypse may generate more places!
  3. Well, to stand up for my civil engineering ability... the particular bridge was indeed two telegraph poles, bolted together, with two scaffold planks on top, with cross boards and chicken wire to provide a wide non slip surface - and yes - it had a hand rail... it was however a full telegraph pole long, and about 8ft above the stream level below - and I had a potential new gun who got vertigo and couldn't possibly cross the bridge - I think we had more than 20 bridges (mostly slightly smaller) over the ditches on that farm, half a dozen were longer than a single scaffold board! This was the farm where we have just moved from..
  4. Due to the usual reasons (all fairly innocuous! old age, changes of jobs etc) we have 3 vacancies this year on our small, DIY shoot twixt Beverley and Driffield in EAST Yorkshire. You'll find my adverts this time most years in the past! This is an established mixed bird (mainly pheasant, but partridge and wildfowl also) syndicate at a point where much of the work has been done. We have just started shooting on a new farm (we've moved off one farm due to a new owner, but found another bit of similar land - with significantly less mud!) and do have some setting up to do - but we have the kit - and a plan! We aim for 50+ bird days. We shoot 10 Saturdays as organised days, but membership allows 365 day / year vermin / boundary shooting. Location - think 'Driffield'. YO25... Viewing essential, (you can then see us, and we can see you! - I've had a couple of applicants over the years incapable of walking across a bridge over a dyke...) and, as usual we would probably prefer to recruit guns with a dog, and 'probably / ideally' recruit from the East Yorkshire area (we have had applicants from Slough (of all places!) last year - an ex member failing to find shooting nearer!) - we've even got a regular gun travelling all the way from Boston (USA - rather than Lincs!) Price... well, start a conversation and we can discuss (although a search on this forum may reveal the price if I've mentioned it in previous adverts!)
  5. Hmm, don't know is the honest answer... nominally I have enough names lined up for the currently available places... but things do have a habit of changing once money starts being required from members!
  6. Another year passes, members come and go, so... (i.e. if you search this forum back over the years you will find similar posts from me!) 3 Full or some half guns available for safe guns (ideally with dog) for long established (55th year!) syndicate shooting north west of Pickering (North Yorkshire). 2000 birds down to (mainly) woodland. Shooting Every Wednesday 1st November onwards, Half guns shoot (about) every other week - tweaked a bit to ensure that they get to shoot all the drives. Costs About £850 for half gun (can't remember full gun price - but slightly less than double!) . Currently about 50 / 50 full guns and half guns Cropton forest. Bags in the 60-80 average - but several will break the 100 barrier- particularly in late season. Long established shoot, bossfella has been in charge for more than 52 years! (and I am advertising for him, but address questions to me by pm in first place) 16 guns per day, 8 per team. typically 6 drives per day, hot pies after 2nd drive (at a fiver contribution to costs - but that also pays for end of season shoot meal) - shoot through then go to local pub for slap up dinner for a tenner. Walk/Stand format, and everyone gets involve with shoot running - average about one workday per month (which are actually quite fun!) and some feed distribution during the season. Shoot has trailer to transport people around rather than a convoy of vehicles. PM for full details.
  7. I do like the idea of a man with 'funds in place' - anyway 'Howson' did visit the shoot this last Saturday, along with another who saw his post. Even with their positive comments, and seeming enthusiasm, seems possible we may still have some vacancies this year, we've got the typical number of leavers due to work and family commitments - and a member who is likely to be getting marching orders as he has only made it to one day in entire season
  8. yep - I live in east Yorkshire, the M62 is about 20minutes away Westwards... the shoot is 'a good' 20 minutes the other way - the last ten minutes is single track with passing places - and has caught a few members out on icy mornings!
  9. Due to various reasons (all fairly innocuous! old age, changes of jobs etc) we have a vacancy again on our small, DIY shoot twixt Beverley and Driffield in EAST Yorkshire. This is an established mixed bird (mainly pheasant, but partridge and wildfowl also) syndicate at a point where nearly all the work has been done. We aim for 50+ bird days. We shoot 10 Saturdays as organised days, but membership allows 365 day / year vermin / boundary shooting. location - think 'Driffield'. YO25... 10. Is Hutton Cranswick too far for you? We're a walk/stand DIY syndicate in that area, shooting Saturdays but with year round access to the land. Don't pay beaters but do feed them with pies and cake after 2nd drive! -and if any gun is missing they are typically called upon to make up numbers if they want to! Oh, and currently we do have syndicate places available!
  11. 2 Full or 4 half guns available for safe guns (with dogs) for long established (shoot captain in his 52nd year in the role!) walk/stand syndicate shooting north west of Pickering (North Yorkshire). Wednesday shoot... 2000 birds down, 14 or so Wednesdays (every Wednesday from about 1st November plus maybe a couple of Saturdays if numbers permit (birds remaining and guns wanting to take part)) generally with an extra 'final' day in the last week. Half guns shoot (about) every other week - tweaked a bit to ensure that they get to shoot all the drives. This is a DIY shoot, members expected to put effort in from February through to November preparing pens, checking feeders, releasing birds, watching them grow etc.. Does mean that you are in no doubt that birds are put down – and that you ‘nominally’ know your way around the shoot when the season actually commences (and can therefore guide the guns who have 10 years + in the shoot but still no clue!) Workdays about 1 Wednesday a month. Costs About £770 for half gun, £1350 for full gun. BASC insurance included. Currently about 8 full guns and 12(?) or so half guns Bags in the 60-80 average - but several should break the 100 barrier- particularly in late season. Long established shoot, bossfella has been in charge for more than 50 years! (and I am advertising for him so address questions to me by PM in first place) 16 guns per day, 8 per team. typically 6 drives per day, hot pies after 2nd drive (at a fiver contribution to costs - but this also pays for end of season shoot meal) - shoot through then go to local pub for slap up dinner for about a tenner - guaranteed to include chips! Walk/Stand format, and everyone gets involve with shoot running - average about one workday per month (which are actually quite fun!) and some feed distribution during the season. Shoot has trailer to transport people around rather than a convoy of vehicles. Oh, and we have a couple of clay pigeon days at local 'sporting grounds' one in May, one in September pub after! PM for full details.

  13. Due to an inconsiderate boss, one of our half guns is having to work on all his shooting days this year, and reluctantly resigns... This leaves an opening for a half gun to join our mixed bird (mainly pheasant, but partridge and wildfowl also) syndicate at a point where nearly all the work has been done. 50 bird days. We shoot 12 Saturdays as organised days, but membership allows 365 day / year vermin / boundary shooting. location - think 'Driffield'. YO25... 15. Sorry - new recruit did get his finger out (eventually) - paid this week! but as above, circumstances may change so bear us in mind!
  16. More details - for vacancies remain - mainly I think for the 'Wednesday' issue ! Costs About £750 for half gun, £1350 for full gun. Pickering forest. 17. A few have made approaches, but vacancies still exist.... we had a near record breaking year last year!
  18. Guys, probably full... a new recruit needs to get his finger out and actually confirm.... As with all shoots though, circumstances can change over the summer so do make contact and possibly come and see us. One member definitely resigns at the end of next season (golf).... One other point to note is that the way we work it is that we don't pay beaters, but if a gun fails to turn up (one half gun for instance made it to the first shoot of the season and was never seen again - not made contact, not heard of since!) then a beater is invited to take their place. cheers, tom aka U4z0G64k! Blast.... still do have vacancies on the Wednesday shoot I am also advertising (for my less computer literate shoot captain)
  19. Bit more info land 1500 acres split over two farms, mainly intensive arable but adequate woodland, wild bird strips and ponds. We have year round shooting rights, so with membership comes access to land for pigeons rabbits etc (so long as you don't disturb the main pheasant drives in season) would insist on a walk round - show you the land, have a discussion etc before either side commits!
  20. A half gun (6 days) is available on our Shoot twixt Driffield and Beverley - East Yorkshire. Preferably someone with a dog, PM for more details....
  21. Full or 2 half guns available for safe gun (ideally with dog) for long established syndicate shooting north west of Pickering (North Yorkshire). 2000 birds down to (mainly) woodland. Shooting every wednesday November onwards (half guns alternate weeks). PM for full details.
  22. Well, a couple of weeks on, the two members who had dropped off the net have gone (one resigned as he realised his new job in Milton Keynes did effectively rule him out!, the second one still hasn't responded and was voted out last weekend). So, two half guns (or indeed one full gun) available, please pm or email me to discuss.
  23. Ok, worked out who you are now! Hope you are recovering from that little walk around,

    cheers,

    tom

  24. Hi, tom here again - do have vacancies again (detailed on the forum page), call me if still interested (and if you haven't already made contact using your real name!)
