  1. does anyone have an opinion on the .22 hornet? is it outdated? what range will it go to?, and would it be a good option for a first centrefire application?
  2. wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just buy a cheap 12ft lbs rifle, some are very cheap, but good enough for short range, you get more accuracy and power.
  3. I have been told that i have to sell my 125 because i borrowed money from my dad to buy my 600 and he wants the money back, otherwise i would keep it as it is so cheap to run and has adequate power for most things, for example it costs only £15 to tax, returns 80-100 mpg (i can get 100 if i drive carefully) and it cost me only £126 to insure at 17 (my car insurance was well over £500) I bought it in the summer of last year just before my 17th birthday and have ridden it since then mostly when it was dry weather (i had a car for when it was wet) The bike is a 2001 model on a "51" 'plate. It has a small dent in the tank from the previous owner dropping it this has been covered in a clear varnish. otherwise in a very good condition The milage is only 9800, which is tiny when you would expect it to have in excess of 18000 I have serviced it as an when the haynes manual told me to and have changed the oil twice in the year i have had it. It has tax for couple of months but no MOT as i haven't been able to get it to a garage as i don't have insurance on it anymore. i can see no reason why it would not pass. pictures to follow Price: £1395 ono (this is what http://www.parkers.co.uk/motorbikes/...=67&deriv=4883 recomended) thanks (the bike is currantly near dorking, surrey)
  4. the air compressors required to fill diving tanks and guns seem to cost well over £1000!!! i wondered the same thing as well!
  5. pellets are very accurately cast in the factory, therefore the rear of the pellet is very symetrical and will therefore be accurate. however, as the "skirt" produces more drag, the pellet will slow down more quickly and so will become less accurate with distance
  6. i use an semi auto for rough shooting, i load the first cartridge as a AAA then the next 2 as 6's i can then shoot it like a normal s/s when i see a fox, i can either unload the first 2 or shoot it with 6's if it's close while still having a quick AAA back up if needed. To be honest, at ranges sub 20yds,(i haven't tried any further) the 6's absolutely destroy a fox when shot in the head and i have had no runners, and so have not needed the AAA at all
  7. thanks for the help, are the .410 loads given subsonic?. could the subsonic 12b be scaled down, and if so, by what factor. thanks for any help
  8. does anyone have any views on which length of bipod to get, i was looking towards a harris swivel model in the future, trouble is i want to shoot of the landy bonnet, and prone in long grass ie in an uncut field, so may even want to sit. thanks for any help
  9. you may have trouble reducing the stock on a 303, my one has a long rod that sticks out the back of the action and into the stock, a nut goes over it's end behind the but pad. i think the rod holds the recoil spring so it could not just be shortened. there is a gap between the butt pad and the end of the rod so it could be shortened a bit but i'm not sure whether it could be done enough for your purposes ie by more than 1.5-2 inches
  10. hi, i was just wondering whether the police will ever approve land for a low powered round. it's just that i want to use my .22lr for rats with something like the shotshells or CB longs. i was wondering because i don't have an open FAC and so would need to get the land approved, it's just that the rats are in an area of about 4 acres near chickens and i don't think that they would approve it normally but would they allow me to with a restriction on ammo type? the shotguns are too loud and the airgun is rubbish -spending more and more and more time getting it repaired. thanks for any help
  11. what is the consensus as to what size shot is best? thanks
  12. do you know where i could get the datafrom for the amounts of powder/shot to make it subsonic? (i have not been able to find any 2.5" or lower subs) thanks
