  1. What fister said... I had the MTM digital scales when I started reloading - after 12 months, they went properly Pete Tong. Luckily I noticed (not enough room in the case for the supposed charge!). I like my redding balance scales.
  2. Some nice shooting. http://www.scrofahunting.co.uk/gallery/
  3. Gents A friend of mine is organising a number of trips to Hungary and Croatia this winter primarily for driven boar and still has a few spaces to fill. I think they're good value and there are a number of trips to suit different tastes and budgets. Hopefully, the testimonials and information on the site give enough info for a start but just use the form under 'Enquiries' if you want more information. http://www.scrofahunting.co.uk
  4. You must not withhold information about any conviction. This includes motoring offences(including speeding offences), binding overs, formal written warnings, cautions and convictions in and outside Great Britain, and (by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975) convictions which are spent under the 1974 Act. A conditional discharge and an absolute discharge both count as convictions for this purpose. Details of parking offences and fixed penalty notices do not need to be declared.
  5. I'm personally not convinced that it's 'PC rubbish' but each to their own. I can't see why it's acceptable for those who take part in legal fieldsports and those businesses who support them to be marginalised and abused in such a way. Even a cursory look around social media will find comments like that posted by Racing Snake above and far worse. If we want fieldsports to prosper and attract new participants, surely it's only fair that they are portrayed in a (vaguely!) correct light.
  6. There's fairly regular chat on here about individuals and businesses being targeted by those who don't like fieldsports. Here's a chance to do something about it Thunderclap: Online abuse must stop NOW --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hunting supporters, like many others, are regularly subjected to online abuse and bullying. Please help us to make a stand against this behaviour by joining our thunderclap and sharing this post. Online abuse must stop NOW – Join our Thunderclap to take a stand against online abuse and bullying, and remember to #reportonlineabuse. With the growth of social media over the past few years there has been an increase in threatening and abusive behaviour towards those involved in lawful activities. From farmers to country sports participants, this unacceptable abuse online must stop. Everyone has disagreements, and we support robust debate and freedom of speech, but the line has been crossed too many times, and nobody should be subjected to violence or intimidation online. We are calling on social media platforms to take these threats seriously and to take action by standing up to those who incite hatred and violence.
  7. In a world of dreadful service, Rob at Monarch is a real gentleman - and their products are excellent too.
  8. You want one of these... http://www.monarchcountryproducts.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=62&product_id=136 They do a smaller one which is purely a roe sack as well. Anything up to a fallow pricket in the larger one.
  9. Many of you will have seen coverage of the proposed amendments to the Hunting Act, which will be debated in the House of Commons next Wednesday. If not, I'm guessing you will over the next 6 days! While falling well short of a full repeal of the act, the proposed amendments would allow for a more pragmatic approach to hunting, allowing more than the current arbitrary restriction of two hounds to be used when flushing to a gun. If nothing else, those organising fox drives in large areas of cover will be able to use a sensible number of dogs. You can let your MP know your feelings on the matter by clicking here. It takes about 1 minute.
  10. What Dunkield and Malkiserow said - most people will just recommend what they have... For what it's worth, I shoot Muntjac, Roe, Fallow and the odd Red with 150 grain ammunition from a moderated .270. (Occasionally unmoderated if I forget to pick the mod up!!). The recoil for me is no issue for me out stalking and has never been a problem when zeroing. An awful lot of perceived recoil seems to come down to rifle weight though - mines a pretty bog standard stalking set up, so not massively heavy but not particularly lightweight either. What I would say is that I don't get many runners (allowing of course for reasonable bullet placement) and meat damage is OK - certainly better than with other calibres I have used. I'm sure you could do the same with .308 and 30-06 though!!
  11. Not trying to open another debate and many will get this through other sources but if not and you are so inclined, please take 2 minutes to lobby your MP to repeal the Hunting Act by following the link below: http://act.voteaction.uk/a/76
  12. Keep an eye out on here - https://www.facebook.com/ForestofDeanWildBoarSabs. They'll post up a heavily fictionalised account of having seen you off in due course!

    Shaving

There is a temptation to buy a double edged wilkinson sword from boots (one of these) . The problem is that they are quite light and there is a temptation to press on your face, which will cause a rash in sensitive areas. Buy an Edwin Jagger for £20 or so and you can just use the weight of the razor as opposed to pressing down, which makes a big difference...

    Is This True

You're doing this to get a rise aren't you Neil? You don't actually believe all of the twaddle about hooray henry's do you? I'm quite heavily involved with a pack of hounds (and have been with various others over the years). The 'Masters', (those in charge) at my current pack are a self employed builder, a bloke who restores classic cars, a manager in a charity and the chap who is payed by the hunt. One of them owns his own home. The whole affair runs on a shoe string ( with a total operating budget considerably less than a decent sized game syndicate, for what that's worth). Do you have some sort of feudal ranking system in mind whereby only those who fall into a certain income category can partake in a particular type of field sport? Good job I have a .22lr (the people's choice) - I certainly don't earn enough to have a twelve bore...

  18. Remember this chap? http://basc.org.uk/b...icide-comments/ http://www.dailymail...n-think-of.html He's standing for re-election to Ryedale District Council. Members who live in the area or who have friends and relatives that do might wish to ensure that their views are heard!
  19. Cock. I meant to put this in Off Topic - apologies!! Mods - feel free to delete.

  21. Bringing this one back from the dead but... Councillor Woodward is standing for re-election as a Councillor in the local council elections that are also taking place on 7th May. Members who are local might like to ensure that they are active participants in the democratic process!
  22. Something like this should help - you really need to work out your exact power though... https://www.armouredcable.net/armoured-cable-calculator/
  23. Various online calculators around mate if you look but given the length of cable / intended use, I would think you are looking at 6mm as a minimum.
  24. Hope they work out for you mate - let me know what you think. As I say, I've given mine some real hammer and can't fault them (although having had both I definitely prefer the thicker ones).
