I can see about 30 a day if I look up but then I do live in High Wycombe... (Current record being 42 following a plough round a field up by Churchill's shooting ground). As Pegasus says, if you look up as you go through the Stokenchurch gap, you can often see over twenty. To be honest, I'm always surprised that I don't see them that often further afield in the Midlands / South East, given the population density round here.

Like Charlie, I attended the rally, the march and the parliament square demo which ended badly (as well as christ knows how many other demos around the UK). I agree with his version of events completely. There is always an interesting debate to be had around the effectiveness of our representative bodies, Compo 90 and indeed, whether they are too fragmented and would serve our cause better with a more united voice. However, you are conflating too many issues into one argument and serving up a few inaccuracies which are clouding the debate.

Some interesting stuff from Chris Packham in Malta... and http://www.chrispackham.co.uk/ I have a bit of respect for Packham who, in the past has been unafraid to support culling of species where needed (although I disagree with his stance on the badger cull). I wonder if there is a bit of an opportunity here for organisations like BASC, NGO etc to get on the front foot PR wise and condemn illegal shooting ( particularly relevant given the situation with regard to raptors in Scotland at the minute).

I'd go to Corinium - Paul's a good bloke, knows his stuff, is very professional and understands how to put learning across.

I've got a HSF Sherpa and a Ridgeline Roar (appreciate that this sin't the exact jacket you are looking at). The HSF one was fine for the money and warm / windproof. After 12 months the zip pulls started breaking but it's still a functional jacket. The Ridgeline is definitely better quality but I sweat like a pig in mine on warm days (stalking southern england) - it's just not very breathable despite the vent on the back. The flip side of this of course is that it's nice and warm sitting in a seat. I certainly wouldn't want to walk up a proper hill in it! It is definitely better made and finished than the HSF.

Some of you who know a bit more about driven shooting than me or who live in Kent may wish to respond to this...

Chaps I may have an opportunity for someone to do a bit of foxing in Dorset, close to Marnhull. I haven't seen the set up, although I have shot over the farm next door but the landowner wants them gone ASAP. I haven't got the time at the mo (not being local, it's a bit of a trek). I need someone reliable, mature and with a bit of experience. I'd like to be kept in touch and if it develops into something a bit more, the opportunity to shoot it on occasion with whoever does pick it up. Folks Bit of advice would be helpful here please. Shortly going to be adding a Leupold VX1 3-9 x 40 to a CZ455 Varmint. I'm a bit out of touch with mounts for rimfires, but having experienced issues with cheap mounts in the past, wanted to try and get the best (e.g. something that isn't going to shift!). Any suggestions re mounts / bases gratefully received... Thanks in advance. Tom

Maybe reasonable banter in the context of a social network or personal email exchange but on work emails? Screw that! I am of course assuming that there is no possible justification for this (e.g. there are business implications for your bank if the cull does / does not go ahead). This has to have breached your email policies. I'd hit reply all, politely explain that while you respect his opinion, you don't feel it's a topic that is contributing towards your business goals and you see no reason for the email exchange to continue. You could add that you would be delighted to talk through the issues in person with any interested individual in social time. And save emails etc. I'm amazed how calm you are - I'd be absolutely raging!
