  1. beretta, browning or miroku - get what "fits" you best - for me it was miroku - dont rush into buying or you may kick yourself - I would never ever buy without trying first either - multi choke would be preferable and make sure the chokes are all there and that the threads in the barrels are intact - dont buy if there's a stuck choke - sign of poor maintenance or something untoward. If you are in the east midlands nevilles guns have a massive stock of used shotguns - straight bloke and will haggle a bit. And no i have no commercial interest in recommending him

  2. If you want new and are Wildfowling a semi auto would suit you better than a Baikal.

Out of your choices it would be the Armsan.

    +1

i would put on running shoes as far as the hatstand is concerned - just my opinion from experience

better still go to a dealer and look at all 3 and dont be afraid to ask for them to be broken down

£400 buys an armsan - baikal lop is quite short

  3. erm yeah, don't drill the stock, they can be glued easily enough, take the action out, glue and clamp it, don't use pva though, super glue works better.

+1 any carpenters wood glue should do the job xx use a syringe and needle to inject the glue - clamp it up not forgetting to protect the stock - wipe off any excess and leave for a day or 2 - the glued joint should be stronger than the wood itself

  4. the little tub of grease that came with my 12g shotgun chokes is nearly empty.

I have looked at choke "replacement" grease and it seems very expensive.

So I intend to use "motor vehicle" axle grease which is as cheap as chips.

I clean my gun after every shoot including the choke threads.

Any "grease" or lubrication experts on here who would agree or disagree with the use of motor vehicle axle grease?

    thanks

  5. Air line - can of WD40 - £2.

I spoil mine and use Napier products!

If it aint broke dont fix it, just keep it clean and lightly oiled - these can fire hundreds of thousands of shells without missing a beat. That's why,as long as it fits, they are so sought after and hold their price - no better gun for the money.

  6. Looking a a game gun with 28 inch barrels Im 6ft with long arms Ive usually had 30 inch gun's but this one has 15 inch stock. Im thinking it might be too short.

it could well be, im 6 ft too, i have a miroku mk38 sporter, i eventually purchased a kick eze pad and spacer to make the lop circa 16 inch, that was after getting a slip on leather butt pad, putting different thicknesses of an old mouse mat in until it fitted me. as a bonus the kick eze pad really reduced recoil too.

  7. £350 - unbelievable price for a semi auto m/c in this day and age when you take into account Vat, everyone taking a cut, delivery and then a 3 year warranty to be honoured. Appears to be of a reasonable quality too!!

  8. Are you an NGO or BASC member? if not join online NOW! Then ring them first thing in the morning!

    http://basc.org.uk/join-basc/£59for a gamekeeper.

+1 join basc, then ring them for advice on how to handle plod in your circumstances - remember you are dealing with an organisation that for the most of the time deals with the criminal fraternity and they may not be as straight forward in their dealings with you, as a decent member of society, as they should.

  9. Keep a paper record of each and every dealing that you have with plod and confirm any verbals in writing, not just for firearms and shotgun licences, everything. You never know when you may need it. You can be the most law abiding of citizens, but plod is always "mislaying" things which if you keep records are easily resolved, but can take a long long time to clear up and possibly involve a load of grief if there are "no records".
