  1. I have potato plants in two fields on my permission they are about 6 inches high I haven't seen any pigeons on them yet. They look green enough to be attractive to pigeons after all they seem to like young green sprouts/ Kale/ rape etc Has any one had experience of decoying potatoes?
  2. "Training The Working Spaniel" by Janet Menzies. Reading this now and it does seem to be an excellent book full of common sense and lots of tips aimed at the first time trainer.
  3. Thanks to you all for the input, I have gone on to Amazon and ordered all three! Training Spaniels by Joe Irvin Training The Working Spaniel by Janet Menzies and Training the rough shooters dog by PRA Moxon looking forward to reading them.
  4. Thanks for the ideas, there seem to be so many books out there I didn't want to waste time on ones that were not very good Ken
  5. I have just bought a working Cocker spaniel pup. Obviously early days, but has anyone got any recommendations for a good book on gun dog training? Ideally focused on spaniels. Thanks in anticipation Ken
  6. Thanks to everyone for the input. It clears up my confusion. I does seem like two rifles is the way to go. less fiddling and re zeroing and both rifles ready to go at a moments notice.
  7. Thanks I had a look at the cz website and put up some links
  8. CZ 455 http://www.czub.cz/zbrojovka/cz-sales-folder/CZ%20455%20standard,%20lux%20ENG.pdf http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/80-rimfire-rifles-cz/MS/CZ-455-STANDARD.aspx Quote from CZ site Modular design of CZ 455 rimfire rifle enables simple replacement of barrel by users themselves. This modularity allows changing of both the calibre as well as configuration of the CZ 455 to let certain interesting versions prove their qualities in practice. The model CZ 455 FS, for example, may be fitted with the MINISET CZ 455 AMERICAN to create an interesting version without sights. Or the EVOLUTION model, originally made with the Varmint type heavy barrel, may be fitted with the MINISET CZ 455 LUX featuring a light barrel and sights. The number of various combinations in configuration and calibre is really vast. The only restriction here is the stock design. Arms primarily designed for Lux or American configurations have been fitted with such stocks that cannot accommodate the MINISET CZ 455 VARMINT. It is recommended to follow instructions in the manual attached during installation.
  9. I bought a revo matrix and it has run like a sewing machine. It is sometimes a bit fussy with 2 and a half inch cartidges (Eley Pigeon, Eley VIP) but eats 2 and three quarters all day long.
  10. I was thinking of getting a CZ 455 in .22. and .17 hmr spare barrel as they are advertised as a switch barrel system like the Sako Quad but much less expensive. However my two local gunshops say that they are not true switch barrel systems and would need to go to a gunsmith to change the barrels.(Something to do with headspace issues?) Has any one had experience of these systems? Do they work or should I bite the bullet and get two rifles one in each caliber? Thanks
