I’ve just had the tape measure out. From the front of the trigger to the centre of the butt pad is 14 1/4”. There is a youth version available of course but I have no idea what the availability or cost would be of a spare youth stock if needed. T

How old is your son? I have a boxed Armsan 612 28” Synthetic that is surplus to requirements. My son started shooting it comfortably from age 13 but quickly transitioned to an over and under. He’s coming up to 17 now. I would let it go for £150 to allow your son a bit of change or for fuel. The only problem is that I’m in Cheshire but do travel with work. I may have a trip to Weybridge pending but can’t say exactly when. T

For a while, I've been using a Lansky which I have found to be adequate. I like it because you know that you're obtaining a repeatable angle on the blade. More recently, I've been getting improved results by following on with a stropping board coated with chromium oxide powder. However, my brother has recently bought a Horl sharpener, again, backed up with a stropping board which seems to be provide better results than the Lansky. I think I'll be upgrading to a Horl soon.
