  5. No idea guys I was just told it was a nordic from the dealer, will try and find the same gun
  6. grand job fella's, the gun fits like a glove and I loved the feel of it so think from your really helpful post I'll be buying the 425 cheers again
  7. I have left a deposit on a browning 425 nordic but the only thing putting me of is that the stock and fore-end is very very glossy and Im unsure how it was done as I would prefer a less shiny finish. I really really like the gun and could live with getting the stock stripped and oiled if its possible as I have read somewhere that some guns have a fake clear coating of walnut which when stripped will leave a boring none grained stock behind. Options in N Ireland are limited for nice guns at the right price and I couldn't be bothered with gunstar etc so Im left a little cornered as to what to buy or settle with. I have looked at berreta, miroku and browning and will diff be getting one of them but which model and what price should I be looking to spend? I will be budgeting up to £950 for a 2nd hand gun. Any advice or info on models etc would be very greatful and if someone can enlighten me in why the 425 stock is so shiny as apart from this my choice would probally be made although I hear with muroku I can get a gun with nicer wood for the same money as a browning which I believe is made by miroku. cheers all EDIT: how can I can tell what grade a certain gun is without relying on the seller telling me what grade its meant to be?
  8. Its easy, if over decoys and keeping your shots to 30-40 yards on pigeons (crows will be walkers) then 28- 7.5 will do the job for everything else I would use a min of 30- 6 or 32-6.
  9. youll probally find the harder shots were not thought about as much, i.e you didnt try to work out anything and just lifted the gun and fired. dont aim to soon on birds and only mount the gun when you wanna shoot and not to try and follow it across the sky for 100 yards.
  10. thats great advice, Im happy to buy it now as that sort of money isnt to be laughed at
  11. My father has recently purchased a 687s in 28" but it never came with a case which he prefers as he lives in a housing estate and would prefer the original breakdown case or similar if anyone has anything lying around and needing someone to use it cheers
  12. this is identical gun and sold for £1275 and I think the one I have left a deposit on has nicer wood. I have been offered mine for £900 but a friend who is well into brownings said its worth 700-800 max but I aint seen one anywhere near that price so I'm stuck on the decision now as my dad has bought a beretta 687s which I think is a crackin gun as well and cost only £800.
  13. hey joe, haven't forgot about you mate, Had loads of things going on mate but hopefully will be hitting some rabbits one of these days if i can get the car off the woman.

back again, were's the man I owe money too ?
  17. Surely all firearms should be well cared for which would stop rusting and more importantly keep the gun in top condition, If you want a gun that you dont want to maintain then buy a baikal. Google any gun followed by problems and you will find someone has problems with most of them, I suggest that you buy either depending on what you fancy the most. p.s only thing I'd change with mine is I would prefer 28" barrels better than my 30".
  18. cheers fo replies guys, Think I'll give them a miss .
  19. I want to use them to dry fire the gun in a practise routine.
  20. payment received, many thanks mate.
  21. snap caps, Is it ok to use empty shells as snap caps or have you a better idea? cheers in advance.
  22. When I bought mine I didn't even look at brands or weights etc as my method was to lift around ten guns at around budget and first off tried for best fits and then best feeling to mount etc, Then when I had narrowed it down to 3-4 guns that ticked the 1st two boxes I bought the one that I liked the look of most, I didn't know what weight it was until you asked the question and I googled it lol. To me if a gun fits, feels good and looks gun to you then thats all you can ask for as I'm a firm beleiver in cleaning and oiling my gun will keep it great for another lot of years weight is not important if it feels ok to the buyer as every man is build different with differnt strengths.
