  1. I would obtain the incident number from the Police. You may use it to your advantage should a similar incident occur in the future.
  2. What possessed you to put the video up on this forum? Surely any exposure of this kind is bad news for the shooting community and you have simply exacerbated the problem.
  3. The posting of this video is promulgating the action.
  4. A very good write up of your exploits. You must have ached for days afterwards. Thanks for posting.
  5. I stood in a ditch yesterday with a 25mph howling wind and a temperature of 4 degrees. Those birds wouldn't have found many insects in that.
  6. Rory Stewart is the original free thinker. I thought him too intelligent to be an MP.
  7. What makes you think that all PW members who posted on this topic are 'all behind the curve ball?' Surely it is obvious even to thickos like me that the Russian security services were caught unawares even though they had been warned about a likely attack. Condesension is not an appealing trait.
  8. A good outing. I find it quite amazing that 'family days out' take in potential shooting opportunities. My wife spots it in seconds.
  9. Russia has never had an easy relationship with Muslims viz the two relatively recent Chechen Wars. I saw an interesting quote on the internet this morning which read..... 'It's not so much who is responsible for this attack but who Russia chooses to blame for it'.
  10. Very good bag flighting, the best pigeon shooting of all.

    Rose pruning.

I planted this Mme. Alfred Carriere rose fifteen years ago when I lived in this village. It has not been well managed since I left the area. Today was my chance to put that right.
  12. I have just finished reading 'No one left to lie to' by Christopher Hitchens. This is about Bill Clinton and his sordid private life and corruption in American politics at the time of his Presidency. Superb writing style sets this book apart.
  13. I gave up looking for pigeons on rape a month ago. There weren't any. Roost shooting was the best alternative. Without exception every pigeon shot was full of Ivy berries. A tiny weather window two weeks ago resulted in one farmer getting out drilling on the lightest (and poorest) land. Rain ever since prevented me from getting after them. Today on a jaunt I spied a line into old drillings. I had my kit with me - just in case. The walk almost finished me off but returning birds lifted my spirits and in an hour and a half I shot 30 pigeons all stuffed with oats.
  14. I presume you were flighting/roosting? Well done either way.
  15. Only yesterday did I purchase a 3/4 invector choke for the gun. I will set it up with half and three quarters.

Minus 2 overnight but these little beauties were unconcerned. Any ideas?
  17. This wet weather is enough to de motivate anyone. I am as flat as a pancake at the moment.
  18. Thanks for all of the replies and suggestions. I don't think there is any scepticism about my post but if there is just have a look at a website like M&S and the handsome, slim models on display.
  19. Long long gone are the days when every wedding I attended involved wearing tails. My tail suit is still with me but it will be at least twenty years since it fitted and it is gathering dust at a rate of knots. My tailor made suits no longer fit either. My body has changed in shape from a svelte figure in my forties to the corpulent monstrosity it now is. Those suits are cringing reminders of the past. I have a wedding to go to in June. In my entire wardrobe the only items that really fit are my jimjams, socks, oversized charity shop shirts and my shooting jackets. No possible combination of those would be suitable. Easy peasy you may say, go online and have a look. All I can see on there are pictures of very slim twenty something young men looking uncomfortable in garments they would never wear in real life. When I use filters and enter my sizes (at the top end of their scales) the same men appear. This is disheartening. Every site is the same. I do not want to embarrass my son on his wedding day but it may have to be long tweed trousers and a matching jacket.
  20. On a similar note, I saw this images of a Red Tailed Shrike with a Goldcrest it had just killed. This has to be one of the most opportune wildlife shots taken in the UK.
  21. That sounds terrific. I hope you fill your syndicate.
  22. There are Shrikes under observation in Nottinghamshire, Norfolk and Sussex at the moment.
