  1. Just read that back Pete it did seem a bit nobbish, sorry mate.

I do agree prices are high but until we start using them in equal quantities to 12g were all stuck with it, it's a shame though as like you say half the lead you'd expect to pay less.

as i said mate i just try to think of it in terms of 250 shots for x amount and it keeps my simple mind happy.

    no worrys bud
  2. Eley four longs are £5.50 at my local and fiocchi magnum 19g no6 are £65 for 250.

I've said before people look at it as in terms of grs of lead for x amount I look at it as 250 shots for x amount. I've paid more than £65 for 250 12b shells and shot less than with the .410 shells I paid the same amount for. It's not how much lead that's in the cartridge that counts its where you point it.

    I love .410's!

iam not disputing what you can do with a 410 ,it was the amount of money for half the goods
  3. That cartridge fired? yet failed to eject? am i correct? looks like a pressure issue has forced the shell back onto the ejector groove. If i am correct get the gun checked by a proper gunsmith for correct headspacing or any other issues, take the case with you. If nothing found send the case to gamebore and see if they can tell you more. BTW you could do with scapping some of your old rusty tops, i am having to throw a beltfull away following a swimming session on friday. Its not worth the risk with steel shells

if it was a pressure issue wouldn't the primer be flat ??
  4. Use the cartridges indicated in the handbook! Don't bitch about your semi when you're using 65-67mm carts when it's only designed for 70-76mm!

If you haven't put it together right, it's also not the shotguns fault...

I've owned 2 Hatsans - and seen many more owners. The worst I've seen is about one cycle failure per hundred carts... and then, it usually a cart trapped in the ejector - which happens to all semis occasionally.

Mine gets used for PSG and I rarely get any stoppage - even after firing 200+ carts in a morning (and that gets it hot).

    :good:
  5. hi all ,after seeing the post on the 410 no4 enfield ,i thought humm my lass could do with a 410 as she want to go shooting with me , i then started looking at 410 shotguns ,yes you can get a cheap webley for £50 ,i knew back some many years ago when i had a 410 the carts were dear and they still are ,well my point is why are you paying more money for something that

has half the amount of plastic / powder / and lead in them ?? sorry if this has been up on PW before its a big forum ,,

  6. Ok so on closer inspection, the action 'backplate' whatever its called (basically where the pins exit to strike the cartridge) where the bottom pin is a ring has formed (assuming its normal as all of my guns have formed this either before i bought them or as ive used them regular) the is what appears to be scraping which could be the problem. The cartidge must be being forced against the 'back plate' making it hard to break. I wonder why it would do it as its getting hot :/ im going to assume its the ejectors causing the problem. Is there a universal way to disable the ejectors on an ejector? With the foreend removed the barrels seem to move easier

i know on my Baikal i can turn off the ejectors and there is a vid on youtube where one lad cuts some of his ejector springs down a bit ,but if i was you i would ask someone who knows more about it ,what gun have you got ?
  7. we had the same with a saiga 12 ,its meant to shoot any load ,well after trying many loads ,then doing some polishing well alot of polishing and changing the return spring and the gas plug ,its great ,when i got my MP24A i just found 70mm are the better cart and clean the guts well after use

  8. Not any wear I could see as a problem, if i break the gun just using the leaver while holding the grip the barrels fall naturally and have to move them about an extra inch without much force, once the guns gets 'warm' the barrels won't release if i were to do the same. I have to put quite a lot of pressure on them to break the barrels to eject the old shells. I'm going clay shooting tomorrow. Will try shooting a few then unload snap the barrels up dry and break them empty and see if it happens. I didn't think to try that until I jus put a couple snap caps in and noticed the gun doesn't shut up properly without force so maybe the ejectors are forcing the empty shell against the action, in fact i'm sure i have a couple empty shells in my jacket so will put one in and see if the gun will shut up and break with an empty spent shell

ok will be interesting to here your findings
  9. Thanks for the reply Pete. If that's correct would this be 'standard' or below or better. Whats your opinion? Would it mean its safe to use magnum cartidges or strictly standard 2.75"?

if it says 70mm then dont use mags in it ,it needs to be a 3" chamber for mags
