  1. I believe having any sort of switch where the brake lights can be disabled (like @ninjaferret has done) is now illegal - because they are regularly used by the 'crash for cash' brigade to cause accidents (you disable your brake lights, someone runs into the back of you, you and passengers claim for whiplash). Whilst it's unlikely to be a problem, if you had an accident and the workshop discovered the device during repairs they'd then have to inform your insurance company, and that could open a world of pain, including your insurance being cancelled and the police being informed
  2. A 'small error' would be putting on your application that your speeding ticket was in 1998, when it was actually in 1999. The OP has knowingly falsely filled in a statutory form, where the consequences for such falsehood are very clear. Basically, his new licencing authority have turned around and said 'You can't be trusted to fill in a form honestly, therefore we don't think you can be trusted to have FAC/SGC.' It's hard to argue with their viewpoint on this. The Firearms Act does have an appeals procedure (through the courts) written into it. This would appear to be the only route open to the OP
  3. The OP stated that Norfolk viewed it as 'historical and perhaps naïve'. Lincs may have looked at it and decided it is 'not so historical, and perhaps deliberate concealment'. we don't know. Putting things in CAPITALS doesn't make your point any more valid, by the way It's a simple fact that the forms have, for decades, required you to notify any such changes. The OP failed to do so. His new licencing authority are entitled to take a dim view of such behaviour
  4. Whilst you are correct in that you have not lied to your current licencing authority, the fact remains that you did lie to Norfolk licencing on a form where the consequences for lying or omission are very clearly laid out. I suspect that you have made your bed, and will now be expected to lie in it. It is not up to the police force to ask you about any new medical conditions on renewal, it is up to YOU to inform them of any new conditions - the renewal form and notes both make that perfectly clear, and have done so for 20 years or more. By failing to do so you will be viewed as having concealed that information, and therefore having obtained your certificate by deception. Even if your medical conditions were not enough to cause concern, its the attempt to hide the information that is of greater concern - especially after recent events.
  5. I went down there to buy a shotgun (advertised through here) a few months ago - really nice people, and a pleasure to deal with.
  6. For those who may be confused : Cartridge razor - the one you usually see. Expensive cartridges, Very good shave Disposable razor - think of a cheap cartridge razor, but you can't replace the cartridge. Cheaper than cartridge razors, but not as good a shave Safety razor - a flat blade, sharpened on both faces (and on both sides of the faces) that goes into a handle unit. Very good shave, takes some practice. Incredibly cheap to replace blades (£5 per annum would be pushing it), minimal waste as there is no plastic, just the metal blade. 'Cutthroat' razor. I've never used one, and no idea on costs or pros or cons Yeah, I went from cartridge to safety razor about 5 years ago, only change I think I'll ever make is when my hands aren't steady enough to hold a razor, and on that day I'll go electric !
  7. I wasn't even aware postal orders were still a thing, thought they'd died out with the 80s !
  8. It's funny, but I cut myself less shaving with a traditional safety razor than I ever did with the old Gillette Mach 3. Blades last for months (yes, seriously, not exaggerating), I shave 3 times a week usually, and the last sleeve of 20 packs (5 blades per pack) I bought at the start of 2020 cost me the grand total of £10 - that's 10p per blade. I'm only on my second pack of that sleeve I bought a friend (who shaves his head) a safety razor a couple of years ago, and, after a bit of reluctance and a few minor cuts, he uses it daily and loves it. Cartridges are a complete rip off, and a great money-making tool for Gillette, Wilkinson, etc.
  9. This is for traditional safety razor blades, NOT for cartridges !
  10. A traditional safety razor ? I use 'Derby Extra' blades, find them really good. If you PM me your address I'll drop a pack of 5 in the post to try out - I bought a sleeve of 20 packs last year !

    Investing

Problem with crypto is that it can be used by lots for money laundering. All you need is for the US Gov't to rule that it's illegal and the value crashes - permanently - instantly. If you're looking for long-term investment then a basic FTSE / world tracker with low fees is as good as you're going to get - yes, there are risks in the short term, but long-term the blue-chip stock market is the best place to be. You could go for smaller companies, and the potential for more reward, but that also means more risk As to people saying 'When should I invest", or "Should I wait for a dip before investing", there's a saying : Time in the market is more important than timing the market
  12. It will only have the manufacturer's warranty remaining if it has been serviced to manufacturer's requirements from new. I would ask for confirmation in writing from them that the manufacturer's warranty is still valid before purchasing
  13. I'll take them if still available please - drop me a PM with bank details, I'll reply with address once paid
  14. Yes please - could collect next weekend, unless you find yourself over St Asaph / Denbigh way at all, in which case could arrange to meet ?
  15. My experience of DVLA online is that they are very good - their forms and car tax renewal are quick, easy to use, and very well designed
  16. If you'd be willing to give them a try, Eley fourlong (2.5 inch) are very quiet already - certainly by far and away the quietest cartridge I've ever tried through my hushpower
  17. I use fundingcircle, it's also peer-to-peer lending - they basically split your money up into lots of small chunks, and put your chunk and 100 other people's chunks together, and lend that package to a person. Some of the p2p sites you might have a lot of your funds with one borrower, so can have big losses if one goes bust So your money is well split up, and if 5% of your borrowers default, you only lose 5% of your funds. Unfortunately at present they aren't lending to new borrowers, as they're part of the Gov't Covid recovery loans scheme. But In the time before covid I was averaging 5-6% returns per annum, after defaults taken into account. If over 18 then you can hold it as an ISA, no idea if it can be held in a Junior ISA or not
  18. Aonhter plus vote for Ooni here, they are very good - ours is wood pellet fired
  19. Captive bolt guns are all well and good, but I'd not want to have to use one on a stag or buck with some decent spikes on. Getting that close is a good way of getting stabbed !
  20. Yeah. The problem is, if it's the height of summer or a bank holiday weekend, and you can't get another one or it'll cost you a fortune to do so - meaning you end up making a loss ! As to just cancelling their rental and offering a refund, it's not as simple as that - they are entitled to book an alternative holiday if you cancel at late notice, and send you the bill - and back that up potentially with small claims court action, which they would almost certainly win. Doing something like this independently is a nightmare - you'll want to use it when others want to book it, you'll be chasing people for money, the scrotes of the earth with their kids and dags will turn up at your house, expecting to park their car on your drive for a week while they go on holiday, people will return the vehicle looking like an absolute tip. Oh, and when you refuse to refund their deposit they'll slate you on FB or whatever social media you use to advertise it. Finally, the person you want to use to clean it will not do a good enough job of it unless you're incredibly fortunate, some weeks they'll not be available, or ill, or just forget. This is all coming from the voice of experience here - we own my mum's old house on Anglesey which we rent out as a holiday let. We did do it independently at first, but it's far less hassle letting cottages.com look after the money and bookings side of things.
  21. If you were going to rent it out then it would HAVE to be a fully commercial insurance policy, and the cost of that would be eye-watering. Just think about it : The person currently renting it has a smash in it. You then have the next few customers who now can't take their holiday, and will be claiming off you for breach of contract. Seen any number of campervans where the numpty driving it has tried to go through a car park barrier that's only 7 foot tall and caused thousands of pounds of damage
  22. I thought we'd just established that being around the pen last thing of an evening was a bad idea ! When I'm checking the pen in the first couple of weeks I like to make sure that any stray birds know how to get back inside, but I'm there at 5pm or so.
  23. It's a really nice thing, and you're only selling it at 20-25% over the price of scrap gold ! Good luck with the sale
  24. 410 is an expert's gun, not a beginner ! He could be putting a clay right in the pattern at 30 yards and not break it. Demoralising for a youngster learning to shoot. But if you're dead set on it, then, as I said previously, the only commercially available cartridges that I know of are the Winchester size 6 shot ones sold by justcartridges - and you'll pay about £200 for a slab of 250, with no option to buy in smaller quantity.
  25. Justcartridges do sell 410 steel, Winchester SuperX in a 2.5" or 3" cartridge. Shot size 6, 14 or 20 gramme load, it's a bit on the small size for duck in my opinion, no larger shot size available. If you're buying a slab then it'll cost about £200 per 250 shells, they don't sell it in smaller quantities
