  1. I see, yeah that makes sense. I have had advice already from several knowledgeable people which I have taken into account. Is there any particular reason you say this? Have you seen something from with the items I have purchased? I am quite a techie, I studied IT a couple of years ago and I've dabbed with electronics before so I think I should be okay. I was posting just to see if I am missing anything obvious or to see if anyone had a simular setup and how they get on. Perhaps my title isn't quite accurate, although I am also looking for any useful advice. Regards, Joshua
  2. Thanks Mark. It's actually a IP camera, so wireless connection to the NVR and just needs power. Unfortunately it's not like a kit, the parts I've ordered are Hikvision chinese items with modified firmware hence why they are so cheap. The camera alone would be over £100 in the UK. From what I have heard they shouldn't be too difficult to set up with a little knowledge but I guess I will soon find out. Regards, Joshua
  3. Evening everyone, I've took the plunge and finally ordered some equipment to setup a single camera for my property, since the past few weeks it would have been useful to have one.... please don't ask I've ordered the following things which seem to have been the best considering I am on a very tight budget: Camera (2.8mm lens): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131591813713?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT NVR: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191765191497?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Hard drive: http://www.awd-it.co.uk/western-digital-1tb-wd10purx-purple-sata-3.5-hard-drive-64mb-cache.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwpfC5BRCT1sKW2qzwqE0SJABkKFKRzZkg3eUPxUS5_I8rAYyTezbJ4biJ4-sSF5pd9qaTtxoCULrw_wcB I am aware the NVR only records at 2mp and the camera is 4mp but I think the quality will be adequate. I've spent around £140, if I opted for a better NVR it would have cost around £220. All I need now is a power cable for the camera since I won't be using poe. I haven't received anything yet however if anyone has any advice on setting it up or has a similar setup it would be great to hear from you.

  9. Thanks again for the information. I see, I think perhaps I need to do a little more research on that then as it seems more extensive than I originally thought. I understand about flying is built up areas ect.. but wasn't to aware of the other zones. I don't suppose you know where I can find a full map like the one above you have given for Cambridge? Kind regards, Joshua
  10. Okay thanks for the timing tip. I think the Syma is more comparable to the DJI so I think it would be better for me to try that - it will only be for a very short period though but I guess it's better than nothing. Yes, the aim is for aerial photography hence wanting to the upgrade to the DJI otherwise the Syma would probably have satisfied my needs just for the flying part. I've seen those before but I wasn't too impressed. Casey Neistat uses the Bebop 2 I believe and he has had issues too. I guess they can't be to good if they fly away
  11. Thanks for your replies, they are much appreciated. I was thinking of initially starting on a Syma x5c just to get use to the experience so perhaps I may still do this even if it's only very brief I guess it will help. I may order one tomorrow then just so I can practice until I find a suitable DJI. From what I have seen the Syma x5c is a nice cheap drone which quite a few people get before stepping up. Thanks for the link, I'll have a look on that site for more information and I will certainly keep your offer in mind Billy if I need some advice I have had a little read on the laws and they seem quite relaxed for now, although I hear this could change since they have become more popular. Kind regards, Joshua
  12. Hello all, I would love to get my hands on one of these to try out. If anyone has one for sale which is reasonably priced please can you send me a private message with the details. If you could please ensure you send me a message rather than writing below because I am not notified otherwise and I may miss your reply. Many thanks.
  13. For sale is my GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. I have decided to part ways with it because it rarely gets used anymore. It is in fully working order. It comes just with the basic accessories as shown in the picture, so you will require a USB cable and micro SD card but they are very cheap to buy online. My asking price is £155, no offers please. That would be for cash on collection from Cambridge. I can post for an additional £7 if required. Thanks.

  17. Thank you everyone for all your responses. I see a few of you may have equipment which I may be interested in buying. I will drop you a PM to find out more info. Also thank you for the other suggestions, I am however only really looking for Canon equipment. Regards, Joshua P.S They are some very nice photos you have uploaded
  18. Good afternoon, Having just started a photography course I am in the market to buy some Canon photography equipment since I previously sold all my equipment, here are a few ideas I have in mind: Body: 60D, 7D MK II, 6D, 5D MK III. Anything around the mid-range except for an original Canon 7D, I would like to avoid this body. Lenses: Anything of reasonable quality, I would consider L lenses depending on the price. I am not looking to buy standard kit lenses i.e. 18-55mm. If you have anything reasonably priced please drop me a PM with the details so I get notified via email, otherwise I may miss your response. Thanks
  19. Hi everyone, I have a 2nd Generation Apple TV up for sale. It is in good working order but does come unboxed with only the power cable and remote control, so the buyer will need a HDMI cable but that can be bought for less than £2 online. £50 cash on collection from Cambridge or I can deliver for an extra £3.90. If you're interested please drop me a PM so I get notified via email and can respond quickly. Thanks.
