  7. Howa would use metric thread i would have thought 14mm x 1mm on a sporting barrel and a 18mm x 1mm on a varmit barrel
  8. Thanks all this all makes interesting reading and im learning from all of you i feel this issue needs addressing and passing on to all people who shoot live quarry. from what ive read we will need to change the way they shoot (range and chokes used) please keep posting with views and information
  9. was watching the shooting show last night they did a bit about steel shot. All they keep on about was the gun and how there going to check it after 1000,s of shots. Never once did they compare the knock down/kill data against lead. I might be stupid but my concern is for the birds im hitting/KILLING with it, not what its going to do to my gun in the end. We need to talk about ranges and such like. Im only thinking out loud because i was shooting the other weekend and a mate further down the line ran out of his normal cartridge so started using steel shot cartridges whi
  10. i use a sidewinder 6-24x56 on my centre fire the only reason was to add NV to it lovely scope that i cant fault
  11. problem is you need the batteries to last while your using the pord i had a set die on me the other week just at the wrong time (lucky fox) i normally carry a spare battery for each part of my kit thermal spotter, pard and laser torch but you still push your luck on when to change them if needed
  12. only thing i can see with these units which might be a problem is they dont run on 18650 batteries they use a smaller one i dont think there as common so properly dearer and harder to get hold of
