  1. Ditchie Where was Bernies move to HM Pastures new announced?
  2. Any chance of a photo of the 'item' ( for my collection of pics of course) What metal is it? Alloy, steel, bronze ? If it's the former or latter then unless you have been buying your tap n die set from the market/ flea bay bargain job then I personally wouldn't think that the tap( when used correctly- most times I saw broken taps was undersized pilot holes, lack of lube or ham fistedness) would shear. Also, from my understanding of your first post, you say the bolt ( hardly a bolt at anything below M4, more screw like) 'bottoms out'? In which case from the amount of lead it would have had then bashing with a hammer as described or other such like would not have given rise to cross threading as its already in a threaded portion so if it was to be 'drifted' in then ALL of the thread would be knackered. Have you used a torch and a needle along with a magnifying glass to see down inside? Finally, are you sure the screw you have is the correct one?
  3. Even. A small tap should not break. Plenty of lube and half turn advance- quarter retard to clear the swarf. Have tapped many a small diameter in the past when I studied engineering. What's to loose huh?
  4. Sounds like marque to marque and model to model has some fairly significant variances. Now thinking along the lines of purchasing locally so that's Bosch, Makita, AEG and a couple of other cheaper makes- that way it will be easier to deal with any returns that may occur. Thankyou all for your input
  5. What have the 'little people' of Lilliput got to do with it? Ohhhh, you said Milliput Soz
  6. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/342615-neighbour-issue/page-5?do=findComment&comment=3125527 There you go
  7. Your floor might need a bit of work though- next time put a rag down to stop the pain drips staining it :-)
  8. Yes they are- but I'm not.In some instances it's cheaper to purchase in the UK and ship over rather than pay local prices ( depends on the exchange rate of course) ITS have a Makita for £99 plus vat in special- not brushless though of course but I think I can live with that! Shame they don't do international delivery though
  9. Ffx keep popping up on my French eBay search Will look for ITS?
  10. Does indeed help. Nuts n bolts on the bike/car so a 1/2" impact driver with higher torque Drill wise- nothing special as its for 6 to 8 mil concrete block work only.
  11. Ditchie - have a Ryobi SDS and it's been fine. For cordless work over the past 8 years have used a cheapie which has been OK for light work 14.4v. But it's throwing in the towel now and won't work in certain orientations. Just looked at the brushless stuff on SF and it's certainly a bit a lot more expensive for us DIY types, think it's either DeWalt or Makita then
  12. Will check SF for brushless- they really that much difference apart form less wear and tear on the commutator and brushes?
  13. I have an elec aswell as a windy gun already, only ever use for removing stubborn nuts/bolts Tightening is always with a torque wrench if it's car/bike related- tractor gets the "that feels tight enough" technique. Really like a batt impact for use away from the confines of the garage and some TrackDay work on removing wheels on the bike.
  14. Think I know the answer. Screw fix do delivery to France and about to press the buy button but not sure if I should go for DeWalt, Makita or one of the others? 18v Also to confuse matters they have an offer here on the Ryobi 1Plus series Ta
  15. Out of all the guys n gals who work for us only two voted for Independance and of those two one said he was mortified afterwards and had wished he hadn't. Stated he was very relieved to had the vote go in the favour of remain.
  16. PM me- might have a spare you can have. Will take a look as back In the UK next week. Edit to say found it
  17. My Garage has a 'solar powered' vent fan on it. Was really sceptical but willing to try anything to get the air moving-might not blow you away but keeps the circulation going and seems to be doing its job
  18. For every rule that people hate it's a shame they don't remember the 'positive' ones like this and compensation for flight delays, abolishing the EU mobile phone roaming to name just a few....
  19. How much are you willing to spend? Costco do some great garage/shed storage http://m.costco.co.uk/view/p/newage-bold-30-8-piece-cabinet-set-in-grey-216550
  20. My neighbour does this- leaves oak on the bank above our place and my wife usually leaves a pot of figs on his door step when they in season
  21. Shouldn't the question be--- Why can't you leave something without it getting nicked! It's a sad place whereby everything you own has to be kept hidden/locked to the hilt.
