+1 Then again plently of people have died in the world because they have spoken freely about a subject. It is funny how people parrot the mantra of free speech this, free speech that but you realise it's not really free. 2 world wars were thought so we could have some semblance of free speech and now we just take it for granted.

Don't give up this is their plan, to make it so hard and take so long to apply for a shotgun or firearm license that you give up. Remember while you are still waiting you could always use a club gun or visit a clayground and rent a shotgun for the day. You can carry on shooting while you are waiting for your license and then when your license comes it will be like the cherry on top.

I think you have to apply for an export form from the atf.I don't think you can take posession of the gun yourself, you must ship to local dealer in the UK and then take it from there. Thanks for the information. According to what you wrote the guy in the story could have easilly added those rifles to a firearms license then.

So what is then the process if someone wants to make a firearm, one which would be legal in the UK and then legally register it?

If they do that I will personally make a thread praising the police. Unfortunately lately when it comes to decision regarding firearms licensing they don't have a good track record. I will praise the Home Office though for not enforcing mandatory electronic data storage for RFDs. There you go mick, I have praised the establishment, who would have thought?

Criminals deep down are cowards they go for waht they think is a soft target. When reality hits and a law abiding citizen pulls out a conceal carry gun most **** thier trousers and bail out.

That is of course ytour opinion and I respectfully disagree. I beleive that in America at least there are many cases where potential murderous rampages have been stopped because someone was conceal carrying. Of course these incidents don't get as much media atention since it didn't have a high body count and because the media doesn't like to tackle the elephant in the room. That conceal carried guns overwhelmingly are a force for good and not for bad. Yeah you could have done better in a high stress rapid fire situation and I get called the armchair warrior.

That is an important point. I can just see police pulling over a lot of A-level students who are legally allowed to drive but if they dare light up in their car they will be breaking the law. Hillarious. Then again British Laws in the last 10 years have bordered on the ludicrous and tyrannical.

A worldwide organization would probably benefit us since we have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world. I actually agree with you on the bold text. What were the police thinking? I watched the video of the video where they went in to break the siege, I counted around 130-140 individual shots including fully automatic gunfire. NO WONDER civillians also got hurt. It seems liek Australian special forces need more training, no way acceptable for that many shots in an enclosed space with friendlies present.

It wouldn't get to a siege situation sicne if someone was conceal carrying they would take the gunman by surprise when he would come in armed and order everyone to the ground. You are confusing an attempt to end a siege to a situation where a first responder (in ideal situation general public) responds to a violent incident. These are 2 different scenarios. Of course a gun might not save a situation if the terrorist plans for all eventualities but it would surely evend the odds out.
