  1. Hi Thinxs, You are limited by your budget so the only landrover discovery or toyota landcruiser for that price will spend most of its time in the garage (especially landrover), a decent medium size 4x4 which is very reliable and practical and is available in your price bracket (I have owned two over the years in Australia and Uk) would be a mazda tribute, they often come onto the market with low mileage (punch it into autotrader) and dont cost the earth to run unless you go for the 6 cylinder petrol. Good luck with your search, and if you do find something worth looking at take a competant mechanic with you so you dont buy a lemon. Cheers......Ant
  2. Hi all, Any nppc subscribers in the Lincoln area? I am just about to send in my application, I have some local permission and was hoping this could be a good addition for a bit of variety. Cheers.......Ant67
  3. Thanks to all, very impressed with the response on PW.
  4. Thanks for the good advice uncle albert, your quite right carrying all the kit is a pain. Anyway I'll be out there in just under 2 weeks so will let know how I get on.
  5. Thanks B725, I may give those cartridges a go later when I have used up the clear pigeons.
  6. Thanks for the info guys its much appreciated. Good advice swiss I've been on the clays for quite some time now and had a few issues sorted with a decent coach, so hopefully will be able to connect with a few 'real ones' when I get home in a couple of weeks! Cheers Ant67
  7. Hi all, Fairly new to PW. (earlier post about SGC waiting time). Got the shotgun cert and purchased a Browning B725 hunter, and have recently got permission on a farm with too many pigeons, my question is this: As a novice to pigeon shooting and with all the equipment available what is the bare minimum I need to get out there and hopefully get some success? Even the subject of decoys is mind boggling there are so many! I dont want to waste hard earned cash on unnecessary gear but would like to do my best for the landowner. Cheers & thanks.
  8. Shotgun certificate came in the post today 15 days after the FAC home visit, so the total time from applying to recieving has been 63 days.
  9. Hi all (just signed up to PW), sent my sgc application on 17th Jan. recieved a phone message from firearms officer on 17th Feb. to arrange home visit but as I am currently working overseas until 1st March I will have to wait until after that date. About 4 weeks for any contact sounds about right and I'm very happy with that, but I guess I'm lucky to be working away for 4 weeks at a time so I dont feel the long wait like you guys! Anyway I'll keep you informed of progress after 1st March.
