  1. I gave up a year ago and regretted it from the moment i gave my certs back. Sure enough I'm waiting for them to drop back through the letter box again. Don't do it, its not worth it. Keep looking for land and when you find a decent land owner you'll be laughing. I told mine when I quit and when I went back to them they hadn't let any one else on it and now I've got permission on it again and they still wont let anybody else on it.
  2. I think it might be because you don't need as many. Of course its always good to have more but most of my success with them was using 1 decoy and adding dead birds into the pattern. Also the decoy I had was just a crow shape cut out of mdf and sprayed black. Others have used socks to add the 3d look to it, it works though lol If you want real good advice ask steve_b_wales he's like the corvid god lol helped me out a couple of years ago
  3. Although concealment is vital as if they can see you even slightly you e got no chance of them coming into a pattern
  4. Thanks for your help. Please come back when you've tried the other ranges but it looks like this is the scope for me after Christmas
  5. I was down my local rfd today and i was looking at the above scope to go on a cz455 American. I was wondering if anybody on here had any experience with them on a .22lr. It seems the reticle is pre calibrated for HV/SV ammo but apparently you can calibrate it for use with subs. It does appear clearer than a standard sport hd but I don't want to blow an extra £50 on a ret and would rather get a better scope. Thanks in advance for any info Paul
  6. I'm not a member David but if you want a copy of the condition id be happy to send you a copy
  7. The wildlife of today is not ours to dispose of as we please, we have it in trust & we must account for it to those who come after. King George VI
  8. avoid south Devon. Go for south coast of cornwall
  9. acorns here, but there's no crops for miles
  10. I shoot near some busy footpaths. Never put a sign up or anything, I just work around it and make sure I'm aware of anybody that may have strayed from the path. As long as your shots are safe and you have permission then i cant see a problem
  11. remember field craft, take your time getting in range of them, stick close to cover and relax. Oh and heel to toe is a good one to remember
  12. According to my ticket you do! And when i saw johnathonLs thread the other day i thougt that it was the norm now.
  13. not got it in writing, but i will get it now!
  14. Some of you may remember a thread recently about this, I got my fav ticket and it says as a condition that i need to notify if i buy/sell/aquire firearms, moderators and ammunition. I had no problems with this and sent the local force an email in line with the letter they sent me, Got a phone call yesterday from firearms licencing saying that I don't need to inform them when i buy ammo as they can barely cope with just firearms purchase transfers etc. They also said that they cant change the condition as it comes printed on the new certificates as its now part of the home office guidelines or something to that effect. So now im lost as to what to do, because if i do what they say and don't inform them im in breach of my conditions. And if i do then i could be seen to be ignoring what they are telling me to do. I don't think im the only one in this situation as the condition is standard on all new certifcates in the area but what should i do

  16. yeah its just one number now, mine says 750 so i can keep and buy 750
  17. Says on my certificate something along the lines of, For use of the killing of any animal in the protection of human or livestock life, don't quote me exactly as i don't have my ticket with me. So my interpretation is that if i saw the dog either attacking livestock or threating to attack me then I could shoot it and dispose of it in the normal way. I am not saying you should shoot it on sight or go hunting it but shoot it within the situations as outlined on your ticket
  18. That's a fair point you make, but in sure no or very little shooters want to completely eradicate the pigeon population but rather control it. I think it would take alot to eradicate them since they breed so readily and prolifcally
  19. This is rather odd. I see virtually no pigeons this time of year, come feburary there's loads. If the proposed close season was implemented then i would shoot very few,
  20. Its a shame their agenda is so dismissive against shooting. Has anybody ever had any greif of them before?
  21. Just ask about and be yourself. You will get told no an awful lot but just keep asking, you'll get some in the end. Just be sure to get some sooner rather than later or consider handing your fac back as you no longer have a good reason for it which can get you into a bit of trouble i think, I'm sure i read this on another thread not so long ago. Good luck in your search
  22. depends on what you want to do with it, my old baikal is good as an ore a poking stick a cricket bat and is still good as a shotgun. Honestly the most bomb proof budget sxs your ever going to get
  23. which I'm fully aware of, so i was asking what other people use in their 10/22 so I can try them in my gun. I know each gun will take to different ammo but i don't want to go and buy 6 more boxes of different brands to find say winchesters group best and then i have 5 redundant boxes when i could have spent the cash stocking up on the prefered brand.
  24. Its not like I'm trying to use it at heavy ranges though anything over 20yards and its whited out. Do you think this one would be ok or should i look at some others? If so what would you suggest budget is £250 with mounts
