  1. I don't think there's that big a jump between an Sako and Sauer/Blaser is there Alex? And the man did say he could buy whatever - if it was based on aesthetics alone you could push to merkel or heym - that's big money! But I'd be worried I damaged it as they are wooden stocks and blued actions usually. Sauer.
  2. If you want to move up a step again from the sako get a Blaser or a Sauer - both are exceptional build quality and will be guaranteed accurate out of the box, have steel drop box mags and are about as pleasing to the eye as your going to get (opinion obviously) if you get the R8 professional it will be super hard wearing and if you buy the xt sauer it will be even more so as it is Ilaflon coated so will not rust/corrode. Also both have the option to be taken down for travel or swap barrels although this is not a cheap option. Sorry if this has added more confusion! Sauer
  3. Thanks Alex.... Anyone know of a 30.06 for sale? Sauer
  4. Folks, I am looking for an additional stalking rifle in 30.06, something around the £400 mark - anything clean considered, but I have seen a browning for sale - I was looking for opinions on the A-bolt synthetic stalker - specifically in 30.06 but any caliber really. What's the difference between the a and x bolt??? How is the quality? What type of scope mount system is on them? Thanks Sauer
  5. As said - cracking rifles - what I would say is pick one up, tap the butt on the side and see if its for you.... Sauer
  6. Totally agree, another vote for the 365...
  7. A Vulcan bomber? I'd have though a coal powered steam train would've been more fitting.... Such a shame that she was loosing her marbles in the end, there are Argie's that are still scared of her today!
  8. If you're relatively good at DIY you can change a lintel yourself, I installed one in a fireplace just like that a few years ago with no issues. Sauer
  9. It's maybe the challenge of using a "mans gun" after using that girly paddle of a browning.... :yp:
  10. I notice you are in Scotland - strathbogie saw services up in the northeast were doing a deal on 365xt's a while ago - not sure if its still on but it was a reasonable amount off, I'm also not sure if they will post a saw. Hope this helps, Sauer
  11. 365xt - read the arb forums and you will see this saw coming up all the time as a workhorse - the 550 is also great but a little higher strung - there are plenty of very old 365's still going around which is a testament to how hard wearing they are! As I said I wouldn't go 391 but only due to the clamshell thing - otherwise they are a great saw - I am told if you call a stihl dealer and tell him you would like him to work on a clamshell saw he with give a big "humph" as they hate pulling them apart cause the design was bad. Look after any of the saws you mention and they should be a lifetime saw for "now and then" use... Sauer.
  12. I can't ever remember hearing of build quality issues with husqvarnas and the only stihl complaints I have heard of is the clamshell design casing and the older model (can't remember which ones) where they had main bearing failure due to a bad batch - I have heard stihl make better climber saws and husqy make better ground saws as the stihls are a little lighter whereas the husqy's seem to be torquey robust saws but a little heavier. I would say the chain type is the deciding factor between hardwood and soft wood as neither brands pro saws would struggle. Edit - I should also comment that I have stihl and husqy - although the stihl is a cut off saw - all have been faultless though.... I just prefer the power on the husqy for a chainsaw. Sauer
  13. Neither - the correct choice is The Who or Lynyrd skynard..
  14. Well done Teal, regardless of whether we liked her lets show the lady some respect.
  15. Correct - it's a silly thing to do,
