  1. 50+ years ago I was a rep calling on farms in the north of England. I was invited to stay for tea one day and sat down with great expectations as the lady of the house always baked lovely stuff. I was confronted by four thick slices of cold ham with about a quarter inch of lean, the rest white fat.The only way I could wind it down was by drowning it in the home-made piccalilli with mouthfuls of bread. My digestive system was in a state of shock and I drove home very gingerly avoiding bumps and potholes. Not been keen on picalilli since.
  2. Let’s be honest, the stresses and strains on the lubricated parts of a shotgun are fairly minimal and most of us are using far too much technology for a simple task. But........ if it’s your pride and joy you like to think you are doing the best you can to preserve it and ensure that it comes to no harm. You probably fancy yourself as a bit of an engineer too which gives you more justification to smear expensive, over-specced grease on a glorified hinge mechanism. But each to his own.
  3. Schmierfix from Alan Rhone. Used it for years, easy to apply and it does a good job. If Kreighoff use it - it must be ok.
  4. I know that only the people with money can spend it but a friend who is a travel agent tells me that he is swamped with holiday bookings.
  5. An Anal Monobloc carb eh? Not may of those about.
  6. Dualit. Expensive initially but they go on for ever. Very simple and if something does go wrong you can repair it yourself with spares available from the manufacturer.
  7. We look at these prices with horror but it’s not having much effect on shoot entries. Barbury, Hangmanstone and Gunsite have all had over 200 entries at their recent shoots. So where is the tipping point? £350 - £400 per thousand?
  8. That was probably in black and white!
  9. I use the same grease and have never had a choke come loose when shooting.
  10. Be optimistic. They are good people to deal with and are usually very ready to find a solution to any problem regarding their work.
  11. + 1 So you must have spoken to Teague today. What was their response?
  12. I’m surprised you have aired your problem on this site before getting a response from Teague and giving them the opportunity to put things right. They are a good company with an excellent reputation and any talk of things not being what they were is nonsense.
  13. Miroku MK60 Grade 5 30ins. You should be able to find one for about £2.5. Buy an original, unaltered gun with the original butt plate and quarter and three quarter chokes. Perfect gun, looks good and will shoot for ever.

    MK38 Trap 30ins

As per the title. Must be perfect and in original spec.
  15. Enjoy the experience. That's the one from Park Street isn't it?
  16. Try a few gunsmiths. They are always replacing those pads with a kick-eez or something similar and they usually get chucked in a box.
  17. B25's take a bit more looking after than the modern 425/525's but they are a world apart when it comes to handling and balance. The bores will go orange in the time it takes for you to get home after shooting but its nothing to be concerned about. You can buy a reasonable B2G for £2k and it would be a pleasure to own and shoot.
  18. Coombe Farm Sporting have one for sale for £95. Tel 01460 279595
  19. Daffies are out here in Somerset - but it most definitely is not Spring!
  20. Guntrader are going to have to get their act together very quickly. The UK gun trade depends on this site for sales, stock control and as a 'front' to their business. The current situation is unacceptable and I expect their phone lines are glowing red!
