  1. I'll take these if they are still available.
  2. Bought my 694 from them July last year. Traveled up fro Midlands as they had the Ltd Ed in LH. No discount to be had but nice staff and they didn't try to fool me with "it fits you lovely" etc.
  3. Hi. I'm looking for a single CENS DX1 or DX3 module - Thought I would ask before I pay the £280 for a new replacement unit.
  4. Glad everything worked out with the Longthorne(s). One of the odd things we live with in the UK regarding the sale of guns is that we accept that warranties are with the distributor, not the seller, despite the fact that the gun is purchased from the seller and they owe the implied terms in the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Any Beretta premium dealer is not helping you much by failing to front the issue(s) themselves.
  5. I would interested in how this finally ended up and your current thoughts on the gun(s).
  6. When you go to decent optician it not just the quality of the eye test but ensuring that the glasses you need are those you get. 20 years ago I got headaches, went to a number of the usual names and ended up nowhere. Finally went to a quality small opticians with two partners and immediately had the issue diagnosed. My prescription is complicated and each visit needs tweaking but I remain headache free. Further, when I spoke about shooting and getting contact lenses to help the right lenses were sought with the right advice - it was a combination of the two. My bill every 3 years or so is £1,200 - not cheap but its £1 a day - you would quickly pay that for quality glasses and no headaches.
  7. The guns balance is the point between the hands not really where the gun balances by itself. It is assumed that the mid point between the hands will be the hinge pin and generally this is correct. Check you grip however to make sure that is correct - if you hold the forend quite far forward that may move the mid point between the hands forward and you may 'want' extra weight in the barrels. Alternatively - as Tonka says - move you hand back on the forend and see how it feels.
  8. In my 686E (not EVO) the different brands made no noticeable difference. I tried Briley (Spectrum & Titanium), Teague, Seminole and Muller. I ended up using the Briley Spectrum which added a little weight to the barrels & had nice coloured rings. The standard Mobil 1/4 choke pattern was as good as all the others. After I found that out I stopped fussing.
  9. Just out of interest Richard, whats SilverFox after for the 682 Gold E ?

Ok - Understood. I was only asking out of interest. I'll leave you to it.

  10. Last shot there in April. It has moved to Fibre only which i was not expecting. I had taken plastics so ended up paying £65 for a slab of cheap fibres. Not ideal. It is a good ground with some interesting stands. On the plus side the birds over the lake are super. On the negative side a lot is built around banked enclosures which makes them a little repetitious. The shop is very good. Its easy to look around. The cafe is super - Pre-covid I would have gone to the ground just for breakfast. In April it was eat outdoors only. The food is good and a nice view over the lakes from the tables. It is definitely worth a visit. Kibworth is better.
  11. The Gold E will be lighter in the barrels but its a personal thing so do try it. Getting a good Gold E now is also tricky so follow this up. I would be very tempted myself subject to price & location !!!
  12. Sorry to pass on the problems I had but I ended up with a RH version and then getting LH wood. That was 7 years ago. You are also asking a lot to get one in mint condition.
  13. Liam - Sorry to ask a silly question but I assume you only have the lefty stock for this ?

I do mate, yes. Although the cast is extremely subtle, my wife shoots it right handed with no issues.

  14. A very rough guide is that each "inch of barrels" is about 35g so a 28 inch set would be 70g lighter at the end and you could remove 100g of wood from the stock to balance it out. Overall that might save you about 5% of the overall weight. Getting a field gun would be better, perhaps 15% lighter. Your better option would be look at something like an Ultralight which is designed ground up to be low weight whilst maintaining balance.
  15. Yes. I have a 28inch 12 guage which I use for 'teaching' right handers (my guns are lefties). It's been serviced up to a good state but shows its age - its a field gun which has spent plenty of time in the field. By all means try one but the barrels are light - they lack the mid rib of the better 686s. I would prefer 30 inch but the 28 inch set is great for newbies.
  16. I expect the actors are real but working on a green screen. The remainder of the image is CGI filled in after and as a result there are significant cost savings.
  17. That's the whole point of insurance - "it is fair to pay for cover that most members will never use" - it might be you who needs it but you hope it isn't. If the person making that statement made the decision therein lies a big problem.
  18. " . from a man who had been a translator at the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials and, before that, part of the SOE in French speaking Belgium" - I'm sure he was great with the chat-up lines !!.
  19. And they should be the same if measured at the "breach" end - they should be different if measured at the "barrel" (colored band) end.
  20. I have a couple of pairs of equestrian gloves - Musto do some very thin ones with good grip - even in winter I hate thick gloves and these are bearable. https://www.hopevalleysaddlery.co.uk/musto-competition-gloves.html
  21. The rebate wasn't entirely a benevolent act by the insurers. Many businesses parked their fleets up on private land and took them off risk for a month or two during lockdown, saving a wedge of money. That option may have been available under the terms of private motors policies too - so the rebate was to dissuade you taking cars on an off risk or not renewing for a couple of months - a hassle for all but it might be worth the money for some.
  22. Blaser - Agree with you on everything you say other than the CPSA could, & I would suggest should, give some advice to the grounds - I would expect this type of risk advice if they are covered via a CPSA based liability insurance policy. It may have already been done in which case it would be helpful to know what it is - I suspect it would be pass any risk & liability to the license holder at all times - hence the guns in cars policy at some grounds.
