  1. I fell for the red line pedigree and ended up with a dog I named Ronnie after Ronnie O'Sullivan! As he got older my dad said I couldn't of picked a more appropriate name, 'The Rocket'
  2. Unfortunately Kent he has always been a bit too 'hot to handle' for my skill level. He is so fast even at 7 years old, the one good thing I can say is if I've shot something he'll find it
  3. Ok a fair bit further round on Lynn.
  4. No not Kirton, a bit further round, good luck for this morning.
  5. Cheers pal, he's lovely, extremely headstrong (my fault) so no good for the pheasants but on the marsh he comes into his own.
  6. Cheers mate, if you ever get the chance to shoot at pinkfeet if you don't already, take it! Goose fever rises several notches, even to this day when I'm shaking I'm not sure if it's the cold or adrenaline!
  7. Went out last Saturday on the shore, not much to say as I didn't have a shot! Plenty of mallard around but just didn't commit to the pools, still came away with a smile on my face though just me and the dog sitting there being eating alive by mozzies. Certainly beats the stress of having to organise guns on a pheasant shoot who've been coming for years but still need telling exactly where to go as if they were novices. Cheers
  8. Which load did you get on best with inland mate?
  9. I have 3 sons, the eldest was out with us lamping from the age of 3 and started beating from the age of 5 (walked all day!). The second isn't really interested and the youngest aged 3 has been duck shooting with me twice this season. So as you can see, 2 of my sons inherited the shooting gene from me but completely skipped one of them! Personally I don't think age comes into it, more how keen they are and their maturity.

No worries, any problems just ask.
  11. Just make sure you buy a thousand to justify the £15 delivery charge
  12. I've read Gamebore Traditional Game are a good cartridge, I hope so as they'll be my dads Christmas present!

There are several ways to upload your pictures mate but I find simply emailing them to myself works a treat. When you load them to email it asks what size file you would like and I believe 'medium' works best. You then save these and upload them at your desire.
  14. Yeah everyone seems to enjoy it, our shoot only works out to about £60 for the day so if everybody gets a couple of birds a day I'm happy!
  15. Luckily my dad has been getting on with the neighbouring keeper, he has allowed us to dog back some fields which he doesn't shoot on which has helped. Main problem is we just simply never see a mass group of pheasants leak out in one go, I've spent hours walking around the boundaries pushing ones and twos back. We're under no illusions, we know having just the wood was going to be difficult hence why I'm hoping for snow in November! Very scary mate! We only managed a return of 30% last year, not enough really cold days to draw them back in great numbers. However new season new hope, a lot of new members who have dogs plus we've found somebody who has all the relevant paperwork (Foresty rules) to clear out some rides which in theory (!) should make a bit of difference.
  16. Last year was our biggest nightmare, first year we'd had no ex-layers because we were told they 'wonder off' so stuck to poults only which duly travelled far and wide! There was a good crop of winter rape around the wood which didn't help our cause plus I remember feeding one night in October and I was soaked through with sweat, when I got back to the car it was still over 20 degrees!
  17. We only have 5 shoots mate so normally mid November then every 2 weeks after that. We normally get the birds late July early August but it can be a pain to hold them if we have a mild October which seems to be regular as of late.
  18. Asked for ours to be delivered at the end of August but been told they'll be ready at the start of August which could make things difficult holding them as its a Foresty Commision Wood and have no land surrounding it.
  19. Would of love to come and watch but on call from tomorrow, 96 x 100 is good going. Tip for Stevo, pretend the clays are real pigeons.
  20. Ooh good one! How did you fare last week?
