  1. Like a lot of platforms you just have to be careful when buying as somethings are too good to be true, like a 2019 ford ranger for £5000 I’ve just been looking at 🙂. A colleague of mine who I wouldn’t have thought of to fall for a scam once paid £50 up front to have a pool table delivered, balance due on delivery, unfortunately that delivery never happened.
  2. Well a little update….I’m still none the wiser 🙂, thanks to everyone for their opinion, seems 4x4 estates are a viable option, must admit I do like the look of the Audi allroad. The Honda crv is front runner if I go down the SUV route.
  3. Geez people I was hoping someone would say the 4x4 estate was the best thing since sliced bread 🙂, joking aside I really can’t make my mind up, the convenience of everything being in the back of a pickup truck is appealing but I also like the cheaper running costs of a car/suv, I was talking to someone who owns a vw Amarok, lovely looking truck, he said if he takes it really steady he gets 30 mpg, otherwise the norm is around 27 mpg….SUVs then look more appealing 🙂
  4. Thanks all, I do like the Audi allroad a4 & a6, is it true the cvt box in the Subarus isn’t the best? @scarecrow243 my dad has had 3 isuzu dmaxs now, funnily enough it was a dmax which pulled me out when I got stuck, I asked the bloke if he wanted me to reverse while hooked up to the tow rope, he just smiled and said it’ll be fine and pulled me out like he was towing a go kart 🙂
  5. Afternoon, I was wondering if anyone uses/owns a 4x4 estate car as their main vehicle? I’m looking to change my car soon, I’ve read a lot about trucks & SUVs and can’t really make up my mind. I have no need for a serious mud plugger, between work & wildfowling my 2wd Volvo was mainly on tarmac last season. I joined a new club where unbeknownst to me one of the access points which looks ok in the summer gets churned up by farm machinery in winter and I got stuck one morning. One or two of the other access points are solid roads but are pretty rough. Having driven estates for around 10 years I was thinking of something with a bit more ground clearance but I’m sure some SUVs don’t appear to have that much more clearance than some 4x4 estate cars, thanks for your time.
  6. Depends who’s operating the system, Lincolnshire’s firearms department are exceptional 👍
  7. It’s an Air Arms mate, it’ll be fine 😁
  8. @UltrastuI thought I did well getting some of those .22 pellets from sales the other day as I was originally told it was a .22….then saw the photo revealing it to be a .177 @oldypigeonpopper funny you should mention AA fields, I found a tin of them and they’re ok at 20 yards on Lego chalk figures
  9. 4 pages in and this thread just reminds me how life has a lot of luck involved. I joined a company in the late noughties, one of the other new starters was telling me he had signed to continue in the RAF for x amount of years after completing so many years service, not long after they were offering redundancy and he walked with £85,000, ok no I never saw his bank account so he could of been making it up however I do know where I was working at the time offered redundancy and folk walked away near retirement age with generous 5 figure sums. I know someone working for a government department, plenty of spare time, nice pension and yet says his wife’s council pension is better than his. I know a few years ago I was paying into one pension 6% and the company I worked for paid in 12%, when Lincolnshire police were advertising I had a look at the pension offered, you paid in 12.5% and the government 31% and this was after their pensions had been altered a lot so god knows what terms some of them are on. To finish on a sombre note a friend of my dads who worked all his life retired last September and died in January
  10. Air Arms S400 👍
  11. @Ultrastu as ever thanks for the science lesson, makes sense when put like that, I hadn't considered the weight of the pellet altering shot count 👍
  12. thanks eyefor I'll take a look I am after .177 pellet samples. @oldypigeonpopperif you don't mind me asking, how did you come to that conclusion? I have found most modern decent pellets group at 25-30 yards so I generally test around 40-45 yards and this is the distance I have found doesn't take many pellets to suss out winners from losers.
  13. thanks wymberley 👍
  14. I didn't have a great season but nice to get out when I did, just want to say @greenshank1 that is one stunning photo. 👍
  15. Morning, I was wondering where folk get their pellet samples from please? I see 'the wolfman' appear to be one of the few places where you can choose your own but I don't normally need 50 pellets of each type to suss if they're any good or not at 40 yards, thanks.
  16. Folk need 'just cartridges' otherwise who else would they compare their prices too in the sales pages? 🙂 In the current climate with supply issues I wouldn't just drive to an RFD hoping they had what I wanted, a simple phone call would suffice.
  17. I got that bored of the superwoman I wasn’t bothered if the guy fell off the pressure plate
  18. Sorry for your loss Scully, 13 months ago I had my lab put to sleep, still miss him when I remember the good times we had.
  19. Hello, I am looking for the above mentioned if anyone has any they’re looking to move on, cheers.
  20. I don’t believe it’s that mad if you’re looking to keep a historic fowling piece going like an 8 or 4 bore.
  21. There’s tight folk in South Lincolnshire as well, I winced at the fee of ten Bob 😆
