  1. Glad you had a great day, will you be going to their 'open' day or any of their registered events?
  2. I have a Webley & Scott 700 12 bore and it's a dream to shoot.
  3. Agreed, I also find the 28gram version just as soft and would think they would be ok for closer range pheasants but looks like the lucky boy will be using my dads new 20 bore
  4. Geese and that's about it but only inland Scotland
  5. Agreed, I've seen my dad miss more with black gold and he would rather throw Grand Prix cartridges at the target than shoot them! Nsi ok game, a lot cheaper but just as good for the job.
  6. Cheers chaps it was just an idea when he starts to use the 12 more due to his age I was looking for a softer shell to use, he still has a load of 28 bore cartridges to use first. It's funny though he beat me on one stand at grimsthorpe using my own 12 bore!
  7. Thanks chaps for the advice, it was just an idea as his 28 bore has 65mm chambers and there was no factory made non toxic so one of my dads employees had an old s/s 12 bore with a short stock for him to use bismuth with. 2 ducks for 2 shots can't be bad
  8. Thanks for the replies, your right JDog they do seem rather expensive considering the payload! I see your point figgy but he's only 9, he will still be using his 28 bore for clays and game but just thought if he wanted to use the 12 then it would be nice to have a softer shell for him to use.
  9. Evening all just been thinking about the above mentioned as a Christmas present for my son and I was wondering if they are a soft/smooth 12g cartridge? He will be using the 12g for wildfowling but I am considering getting some of these 26g for our pheasant shoot as he wouldn't be firing many of them, cheers.
  10. Never get bored of going to grimsthorpe, always a nice variety of targets.
  11. A lovely book by John Humphreys
  12. I could do with some colder weather as my pheasants seem to be "chasing the butterflies" off our shoot
  13. I have a lanber field gun from the '80s and shot plenty of 21gram loads through it without a hitch so more than likely it's the gun at fault somehow
  14. I gather you'll have to get suited up in riot gear next time you feed him then? on a serious note do you think he attacked due to you being near his face suddenly or because of him defending his food? I only ask as I've read this thread with great interest due to me owning a soft natured cocker dog who has a split personality when it comes to food (he often growls if I go within a few feet whilst he is eating).
  15. Can't recommend grimsthorpe enough, lovely ground been there numerous times, tried sinclairs for the first time last Saturday and thought that was good.
  16. Another vote for comp x 21g or 28g, nowadays there isn't a 'bad' cartridge. I read an article from Charles bull of just cartridges and I liked the way he called some cartridges 'good value' rather than 'cheap'.
  17. Last time I bought some Remington accutips they were £18 for 20 but were due to go up.
  18. Went to sinclairs yesterday for the first time, nice place and friendly staff.
  19. Clicked on 'buy now' to see how much it was and it said it wasn't available outside the US yet, also I couldn't see how far it would pick up heat signatures?
  20. Chokes play a part but I still believe it's how far YOU can shoot out to.
  21. Well done evo, great bag plus more land to shoot, was you using your homemade decoys?
