  1. Because they have money to burn and like to boast about who has the biggest
  2. Both present different challenges for me, I find trying to get a fox at night with the .223 around 200 yards just as challenging as trying to shoot a pinkfoot goose flying at 50 yards with a gale force wind in its favour with the shotgun!
  3. Can't go far wrong with a cz/BRNO, my dad and I share one and he bought it new in the mid nineties and it's still going strong having had thousands of rounds through it
  4. Unfortunately there are cocks in the shooting world as well!
  5. Yes the 28 bore shells are pricey! I bought my son a slab of 250 fiocchi 17g 6s and they were 55 quid!
  6. My son got a little 28 bore sxs when he was nearly 9 and using 16/17 g loads suffers no ill effects after shooting a 100 bird round.
  7. As I've been advised before pal, you could try a sample pack of around 50 pellets from a few makers. As a rule jsbs, h+n, crossman/Webley, bisleys, rws should be good contenders.
  8. Thanks bullet boy, the farmer was pleased!
  9. Is this a possible scenario of one mans 60 yards is another's 45 yards? I'll be the first to admit trying to judge range can be difficult for me at night etc hey andy1970 not that I'm telling you to prove it but do you have any videos of this long range rabbit work? I only ask as it would be interesting viewing.
  10. Sometimes it all comes down to how much someone is willing to pay, I've seen all types of guns on here for example, some have a set price and go within 5 minutes and others are only on here for a day before they drop the price by 50 quid. At least with guntrader and gunwatch etc they're all listed in front of you so you can compare a little easier.
  11. Welcome and a great deal to start with!
  12. It says your from chorley BRNDL
  13. In all fairness deershooter you are right, they are good cartridges but the cheaper variety are also good value depending on what the OP intends to shoot. Is it really worth shooting expensive loads as a newbie on a local 40 birder? However somewhere like orston you could do with laser guided
  14. Peter theobald if I remember correctly
  15. Cheers, I must admit it was hard work and we covered a lot of ground trying to find her! My thoughts entirely, there'd be plenty of other people lining up.
  16. 1 vixen Friday night, 2 cubs tonight shot with a .223 using Remington accutips. Total 165
  17. Sometimes it won't let you upload due to the max file size of 300KB, I normally have to send my pictures to myself via email and that gives me the option of compressing the file size.
  18. Thanks, I was thinking it was a 'mint' shot as it dropped on the spot! Then I clicked and burst out laughing Cheers pal, don't know if it's because I'm going soft or not but I probably wouldn't normally shoot foxes this time of year and I knew this vixen had cubs but when the farmer is losing livestock needs must as they say.
  19. After a call from the farmer saying they'd lost a lamb and after 5 nights of looking my son and I finally managed to shoot the culprit.
