  1. Hi Everyone, Earlier this year I became ill, which resulted in me not being able to shoot I've had to sell my gun but have many boxes of unused 12 gauge cartridges left over. To my understanding, a gun dealer can only sell cartridges to someone with a shotgun certificate. But am I legally allowed to sell them to one of my shooting buddies? Cheers, Tom
  2. Are you referring to the autosol's metal polish as they do a number of different products? I am mainly concerned about damaging the inside barrel with using certain cleaning products. Thanks
  3. Hi everyone, I have a small amount of rust in the cartridge chambers (inside barrel) on my O/U 12 gauge shotgun. What is the best way to remedy this? Many Thanks
  4. I know what you mean about the price on prescription glasses. Why don't you wear contacts and cheap safety glasses?
  5. I'm new to shooting and was originally advised to wear glasses for safety reasons. This seems logical as, last week when shooting on one stand (sporting), I got a fair amount of broken bits falling onto me. This is now the reason I always wear a cap! However, I have never seen anyone, at the three grounds I've attended, wear shooting glasses . This has the effect of making other people think "well if they not using them then I don't need too!" - social conformity at its best . Personally I purchased a pair on glasses with interchangeable lenses when I bought my gun. But these are terrible! I can't seem to hit anything with them! The massive black nose support and wobbly fit make them useless. I've ordered a more expensive set of glasses called top gun elite but the manufacture is out of stock till the end of the month. Hopefully these will be better. I also want to wear glasses to try and correct cross eye dominance with some scotch tape on the opposite lens.
  6. Bought a browning 325 for £850 (first gun) and have no regrets. As others have mentioned, gun fit is really important is you want to be shooting anything but air! Was going to originally go for a webley and scott but was warned against it. Apparently they are riddled with problems (maybe someone else would like to comment here?). Alarm bells started ringing when I realised that a new browning costs around £1700, where as the webley and scott only £650.
  7. Good thinking. Just thought it usual as to why they didn't fit a return spring for the upper firing pin as they seem to do it on other guns. Good to hear I do panic on times but I would never find out these things if it weren't for these forums.
  8. Just had a look at the owners manual. It seems that only the lower firing pin has a return spring. Strange
  9. Update I test fired the gun today and it's fine. However, I have noticed that the top firing pin is loose. When I tip the gun forward, the top firing pin pops out. I'm not sure if this was caused through the dry firing or before I had the gun (BTW my gun is 25 years old). Even though it doesn't affect the firing of the gun, should I get it looked at? Also, before testing the gun, I tried it with the snap caps. But I only heard one click (as though only one firing pin was discharged). This is what prompted me to test the gun with live rounds. Why does it only let me fire at one barrel with snap caps? Hope this make sense  Tom
  10. True. Didn't really know how to put it as I'm not familiar with gun terminology.
  11. Just out of curiosity, why is it not a good idea to use the old cases more than once (as a substitute to a snap cap)? But in my case, a snap cap would have been useless since I accidentally discharged the shotgun during cleaning.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm knew to the scene of clay pigeon shooting. Just bought my first gun (Browning 325). I've read that you can damage the firing pin through Dry firing. The other day, I was cleaning my gun and accidentally pressed the trigger twice! (obviously, gun was unloaded as it was broken down). Now does this mean that I may have damaged the firing pin or would this have to be repeatedly to cause any problems. BTW I haven't been shooting since. Thanks, Tom
