  1. Great stuff as always, thanks guys. Yes it is for a .243 SAKO85 varmint rifle and i already have an RCBS beam scale and powder trickler that i use for my stalking rounds and you are quite right. I have shot those thus loaded cartridges for years on deer without complaint. I have also shot them out to 4-600 yards informally and 1000yds at a WMS firearms training day if i am honest never thought the loads were at fault for any accuracy issues. One of the considerations is also saving time, the thought of setting a reliable automated powder dispenser going whilst i press the bullet on a previously loaded case should i hope save me some considerable time when loading a batch up. Thanks for all your input that i will take on board, knowledge kindly shared is always helpful.
  2. Following on from my thread regarding rifle case tumblers. Most of the big manufacturers offer products, i have a budget of around £400. Are any better than others? frankford arsenal, hornady, rcbs. Some are more affected by warm up times than others according to google and you tube, any thoughts? Thanks.
  3. Thanks to everyone who took the time to to reply, i have ordered a frankford arsenal tumbler.
  4. Thanks for your replies so far guys. I have used the rifle so far for Deerstalking and pest control but i am dipping my toes into target shooting. So i am possibly going to be reloading much more than i currently do, possibly going for more consistency from the loads too. It would seem based upon that, the wet tumbling method with steel pins is the better option. i had a quick google and the wet tumbling systems use a cleaning solution as well as the pins. Of course i would expect that the solution will need replacing periodically depending upon use? or do you have to change the cleaning solution with every use? Thanks!
  5. Thinking of investing in a tumbler for my .243 cases rather than the laborious cleaning and polishing by hand. Several brands and types to choose from, what are your preferences? Any to avoid? Thanks!
  6. including insured 24 hour delivery each way About £100... Don't know how he does it for the price but i am very pleased with the result. Rich is a gent to deal with, thoroughly discusses what you want to achieve and keeps you updated as the project progresses.
  7. My son shooting The stock now fits perfectly with excellent optical alignment behind the scope. results at 15 yards Results at 50 yards really pleased with the stock work. And happily recommend Rich should anyone be thinking of doing the same.
  8. I will take some pics tomorrow before she goes off for surgery.
  9. Good Evening all. My son shoots an old HW77K that he currently needs a comb raiser to get the correct eye relief and positive cheek weld on. I would like him to be able to dispense with the comb raiser and wonder if anyone can recommend someone to alter the current stock to include an adjustable height cheek piece. Thanks. GSAW
  10. I have the same gun and and i had the AL391 for 10 years before it. Beretta out of the box do not fit me as the comb is too high. Fit the shim that comes with it to drop the comb and bingo it fits like a glove with just a gentle touch of my cheek to the comb all i can see is the bead and non of the rib which is how i like it. Also beretta chokes pattern 3/4 high with my choice of cartridges and i prefer a 50-50 split High / Low in the pattern.....gun shoots where i look rather than above where i look. So i fitted a 1/4 "Teague" choke as it patterns where i look. With those modifiations on both the AL391 and the A400 the gun fits like a glove..I am 5'10" and shoots where i look. The rest of it is down to me.
  11. So sorry for your loss. Well done performing CPR. You did everything you could in the circumstances.
  12. started off with 21g then moved up to 28g. gun was so sweet to shoot with 21g. Moved up to 28g and recoil was noticeable but manageable. i planned on shooting 28g max in this gun and was delighted to find 28g perfectly fine
  13. just thought i would drop you a line gary after a succesful 1st day with the AYA. fits like a glove and i shot very well with it. Awesome!!
