  1. Great stuff as always, thanks guys. Yes it is for a .243 SAKO85 varmint rifle and i already have an RCBS beam scale and powder trickler that i use for my stalking rounds and you are quite right. I have shot those thus loaded cartridges for years on deer without complaint. I have also shot them out to 4-600 yards informally and 1000yds at a WMS firearms training day if i am honest never thought the loads were at fault for any accuracy issues. One of the considerations is also saving time, the thought of setting a reliable automated powder dispenser going whilst i press the bullet on a previously loaded case should i hope save me some considerable time when loading a batch up. Thanks for all your input that i will take on board, knowledge kindly shared is always helpful.
  2. Following on from my thread regarding rifle case tumblers. Most of the big manufacturers offer products, i have a budget of around £400. Are any better than others? frankford arsenal, hornady, rcbs. Some are more affected by warm up times than others according to google and you tube, any thoughts? Thanks.
  3. Thanks to everyone who took the time to to reply, i have ordered a frankford arsenal tumbler.
  4. Thanks for your replies so far guys. I have used the rifle so far for Deerstalking and pest control but i am dipping my toes into target shooting. So i am possibly going to be reloading much more than i currently do, possibly going for more consistency from the loads too. It would seem based upon that, the wet tumbling method with steel pins is the better option. i had a quick google and the wet tumbling systems use a cleaning solution as well as the pins. Of course i would expect that the solution will need replacing periodically depending upon use? or do you have to change the cleaning solution with every use? Thanks!
  5. Thinking of investing in a tumbler for my .243 cases rather than the laborious cleaning and polishing by hand. Several brands and types to choose from, what are your preferences? Any to avoid? Thanks!
  6. including insured 24 hour delivery each way About £100... Don't know how he does it for the price but i am very pleased with the result. Rich is a gent to deal with, thoroughly discusses what you want to achieve and keeps you updated as the project progresses.
  7. My son shooting The stock now fits perfectly with excellent optical alignment behind the scope. results at 15 yards Results at 50 yards really pleased with the stock work. And happily recommend Rich should anyone be thinking of doing the same.
  8. I will take some pics tomorrow before she goes off for surgery.
  9. Good Evening all. My son shoots an old HW77K that he currently needs a comb raiser to get the correct eye relief and positive cheek weld on. I would like him to be able to dispense with the comb raiser and wonder if anyone can recommend someone to alter the current stock to include an adjustable height cheek piece. Thanks. GSAW
  10. I have the same gun and and i had the AL391 for 10 years before it. Beretta out of the box do not fit me as the comb is too high. Fit the shim that comes with it to drop the comb and bingo it fits like a glove with just a gentle touch of my cheek to the comb all i can see is the bead and non of the rib which is how i like it. Also beretta chokes pattern 3/4 high with my choice of cartridges and i prefer a 50-50 split High / Low in the pattern.....gun shoots where i look rather than above where i look. So i fitted a 1/4 "Teague" choke as it patterns where i look. With those modifiations on both the AL391 and the A400 the gun fits like a glove..I am 5'10" and shoots where i look. The rest of it is down to me.
  11. So sorry for your loss. Well done performing CPR. You did everything you could in the circumstances.
  12. started off with 21g then moved up to 28g. gun was so sweet to shoot with 21g. Moved up to 28g and recoil was noticeable but manageable. i planned on shooting 28g max in this gun and was delighted to find 28g perfectly fine
  13. just thought i would drop you a line gary after a succesful 1st day with the AYA. fits like a glove and i shot very well with it. Awesome!!
  14. Hi Gary, Great meeting you today, i am taking the gun for some clay shooting on tuesday. As i said earlier today i have admired these guns for a long time and am delighted to find one. All the best and thank you very much! Kind Rgds Adrian
  15. Ey Up, what is the length of pull, can i see the pics you have please? Rgds Adrian
  16. HA HA HA now now my dear chap put your handbag away, i know you were a top level compund shooter. we have already spoken in person on the subject the last time i saw you. I hope you are well by the way! i merely meant that on a sliding scale of difficulty in putting the arrow in the custard it is easier to do this with a bow with a trigger, sights stabiliser, and draw weight let off that shoots matched carbon arrows, than with a bent stick that shoots feathery twigs!........ my new yew self bow is awesome all it needs is a decent archer now ha ha ha for now it will have to put up with me. you sir are obviously a man of wisdom and distinction HA HA HA HA HA HA
  17. Ey up, I do target archery, i shoot english longbows. Without doubt as already said your daughter will benefit hugely from a beginners course i am sure merlin can point you in the right direction. Compound bows are the easiest archery discipline to master, followed by recurve bows. I started off shooting recurve but got the longbow bug and never looked back. Go along to a local club and see what its all about. http://www.merlinarchery.co.uk/bows/compound-bows/junior-compounds.html http://www.merlinarchery.co.uk/bows/recurve-bows/complete-recurve-bows.html Just like shooting you can spend as little or as much as you like on your rig and you get what you pay for. Most archery shops do beginners kits so its more important to decide how much you want to spend. And once the beginners course is complete go along to the shop and simply say i have £££ to spend and i need everything what can you do! they will put something together in your price range. To match your daughters height and draw weight, then match the arrows to the bow. The good thing about going to an archery shop rather than e bay is she will get properly matched gear that she can try before you buy. Owt else dont hesitate to ask. Happy Shootin'
  18. give me a shout if you think of selling up anytime soon HA HA HA
  19. beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that sir is a sweet rig!!!
  20. Morning Gents, Well i had the good fortune whilst down at the range on thursday to have a go with an R10 mk2. Am completely sold on one, i got on really well with it, liked the trigger, nice positive feed system and very good accuracy. My questions are these, upon doing a little more research opinion is divided upon which moderator to go for, Is the bull barrel integral moderator up to the job Or not? (oooh i really like the lines on that bull barrel) Has anyone compared it to the screw on options? If not what do you recommend Got severe dose of itchy credit card!!! All the best Adrian
  21. Google maps, find the area you are interested in and select the earth function so hedgerows and field margins are shown rather the O/S display. right click on the point you want to start measuring from and select measure distance and then left click on the on the area you want to measure to. Seems very accurate!
  22. Thanks for your kind words gents, WOW 2000 metres!! now that is something i would love a go at! I thought that grin would make you smile, my uncle was in hysterics at me. At least i resisted the urge to do a lap of honour round the field with my underpants on my head (just)
