  1. I was thinking along the lines of taking my daughter out on shoot days & letting her ride the quad to carry bits & bobs. See how she goes then let her carry an empty gun to teach her safety. When I think she's ready let her try clays on the farm. We have a clay trap that one of the lads spent ages making an alloy frame with seat to attach it to. He didn't try the trap before making the frame....the trap is absolute garbage lol, he was furious spending all that time making the frame. Its ideal for kids though as it doesn't throw them too fast or far lol
  2. Do you know what size chest this fits? Thanks
  3. First day for our walked up mini shoot, it was far too hot a morning but cooled off in the afternoon. 6 guns, mostly poor shots lol, accounted for 4 pheasants, 1 partridge, 1 rabbit, 1 duck & a fox. Did intend to stay for the ducks but it was too long a wait for dusk so we left them & probably will until the clocks change. Not many pheasants about unfortunately but another fox was seen & got away. The shot fox was this years young but the weight of it was surprising, belly full of birds no doubt. Good to see plenty of duck on the river but a day out in the fields is never a wasted day.
  4. At what age have members introduced their children to clay shooting & generally learning gun safety? How did you go about it? I have a 6yr old sensible daughter I'd like to introduce to shooting but the local gun club has said 12yrs so they can use a 20g as shooting a .410 is counter productive. I'd appreciate peoples thoughts on this, thanks
  5. Had the 2.0hdi model for 3yrs now & cant fault it. My mate has the 2.0 petrol & reckons its awful on fuel
  6. Thanks mate we were considering feeding 4 weeks prior. Had quite a few duck coming in so hoping to concentrate on the m a bit more....
  7. Think my Grand Vitara will be getting a satin/matt DIY job with a roller....
  8. No they wont mate, you'd need wheel spacers as the calipers are bigger
  9. Excellent condition Jimny, green hardtop, under 60k, well looked after, never offroaded. Any inspection welcome, MOT until May 2016. Excellent driver, cheap to run & insure £2000 [url=http://s246.photobucket.com/user/diggerproud/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image4_zpscf520e Car is based in Tyne & Wear
  10. Fiesta XR2.....without my mates consent when he frequently left the engine running lol
  11. Fenboy talking sense...I work 11hr shifts, my dog is kennelled but spends as much time as possible in the garden with us or out training/exercising. Its not the end of the world a dog being confined for long periods as long as you make the most of the time you have with your dog...
  12. I personally would buy a Navara with the engine mods done. A lad in the north east mods them & sells them on. My mate bought one & had no bother with it, he chipped it & was getting 35mpg. Was driving to france twice a year & it never missed a beat, will definitely be my next motor once I scrap my skip on wheels....
  13. We had quite a few wild duck flighting to a splash on our river last season but didn't make a real effort to feed it. We're thinking of making an auto feeder as we're too far away to hand feed daily. How early should we start feeding before we start shooting this year? We need to concentrate on the ducks alot more as the pheasants are few & far between once the cover dies off.
  14. Landrover alloys in decent condition but used so obviously have marks. I'll say £80 but offers, thanks. Based in Tyne & Wear
  15. IMO a rich oil mix & putting too much smoke down the holes can kill them underground. Still should get them bolting though. Try running the engine with a normal mix, give the revs a minute then kill the engine & be quiet. I find they bolt far more readily this way....
  16. Just work on his obedience, jumping, stockbreaking & retrieving over the summer, he'll be a good age to start next season
  17. You could make a bait station out of scrap wood or stuff some money bags full of poison down the holes if u know where they are. Get someone in with terriers & a smoker
  18. Can only try & if he wont settle he'll be left at home on decoying days.
  19. My spaniel has developed the same although he had never sat in a hide before I got him. It gets that annoying that I've had to return him to the car after chastising him hasn't worked. I'm going back to basics with his training & hope I can get him to be more patient
  20. Absolute disgrace that people will use dogs in that way. Hope they find a decent home & are never bred from again
  21. I've heard a lot are driven over there once stolen. You only need to look at the amount of KC reg puppies i.e spaniels & labradors being sold on gumtree for £150/200.
  22. A poor start to the day, birds getting up too far ahead & my spaniel spoiling things. Only 2 pheasants & a rabbit early on. While the lads had their bait I stood in the farmyard & accounted for a pigeon. Put the decoys out on the splash near the river, sat by myself. The other 2 lads set up further up the river & ended up with 2 shots for zero birds. I had 4 mallard & 2 teal for 10 shots, best day I've had. Looking forward to next season
