  1. Bulletboy and me went up on my permission last Saturday to try again for some crows. The farmer phoned me the previous evening to say that there were 'thousands' up there and that they were hammering his newly planted wheat. We set up with the hide, and placed decoys and some previously shot (and thawed out) crows. We also placed a crow on a floater further up the field. We waited for ages, then a crow flew above me. I missed. Then another flew past mark, and he missed too. Then nothing came by us at all. We looked across all the fields, and there was not a crow in sight. We decided to pack up, and just drive around the farm, hoping to pick a crow off in the fields, using my .243. After some time, we saw a few crows across the other side of the farm. There was a safe backstop, so I decided to take a shot. The 65gn V Max hit it square on. One nil to us! We used the rangefinder and it was 149 yards. A few minutes later, on another field, there were a few more crows, and now it was Mark's turn. He took the shot and another crow fell victim to my Tikka T3 Lite. This crow was measured at 140 yards. Nothing else could be seen, and after awhile, we called it a day. We both enjoyed it though, despite the 'thousands' of crow's being somewhere else! The 1st photo is the crow I shot, and the 2nd photo is Mark's.
  2. Nice write up and good shooting. Welll done
  3. Well done. As I mentioned on a different post, I don't use a pattern for crow decoys. I put them out randomly. I have never had a problem doing this. I#m going to try my luck on a newly planted field of (I think) wheat on Tuesday, weather permitting. I'll post my results (if I get any)
  4. I totally agree about the crows not wanting to come into your pattern. I have used decoys, floaters, flapper etc etc and the crows did not want to bother.
  5. I've got a 'few' , and keep them in 3 cabinets. No problem with the FEO.
  6. Is it under a year old? If so, sould be under guarantee. If not, have you tried the retailer where you bought it?
  7. Has anyone got a case trimmer for sale. Money waiting if price is right. Cheers Steve
  8. He'll never forget his first fox. Well done
  9. Excellent shooting mate. Well done.
  10. I was recently quoted £379 for the 1st service on my Freelander 2. I had the same service done, using land Rover parts, for £142 total. I am still pestered by phone and letter asking me to book it in.
  11. I use a Cobra Merlin monocular with scope adapter. I have a Blaserlite attached to the scope, and an IR filter fixed to the lamp. It allows me to see for up to 200 yards, although I would not shoot at that range.
  12. I use about 12 crow decoys. When I shoot the birds, I add them to the rest. I don't make a pattern, as crows don't do this. I also use a Primos Power Crow call. This is the best on the market, in my opinion.
  13. I have found in my area that crows are best shot at at first light. They come off the roost and fly up towards the top fields, where I am set up. Another good time is mid afternoon.
  14. I just add shot birds, be they crow or pigeon, to the pattern. I never take in the decoys
  15. You would be better off getting hide poles and a bit of net.
  16. Nice bit of damage to the bunny. What ammo did you use?
  17. I used one to zero both my 22-250 and 243. They are okay, but I now just use the harris bipod.
  18. My 1st shotgun, 37 years ago was a Baikal S/B. Kicked like a mule, but what fun. I have owned and sold many Baikal's since then, and have two now, a S/S and O/U. Excellent good value for money shotguns.
