If you get a hungarian made S&B it will be cheaper. The optics are exactly the same. I have compared them side by side and there is no difference.

I'll sleep easier tonight, knowing that!

Hand Held Lamp - What do you use
steve_b_wales replied to Jan147's topic in General Shooting Matters
I've tried and used many different lamps over the past few years. I now use a Cluson L7 lamp which is small, light and has 2 million candle power. Plus, I can unscrew the handle and attach it to my rifle. The other lamp I use is a Lightforce 240. 1 million candle power. It's big, but very light, and shines a brilliant beam. Hope this helps. Excellent.

CROW DECOYS WHAT DO YOU'S THINK??
steve_b_wales replied to buckfast d's topic in Pigeon Decoying Equipment
The ACME call is more suited for jackdaws, as it has a higher pitch. With practice, The Primos Power Call is great. It's the best that I have come across, and I have bought many so called 'good ones' in the past. -
I've got a Benelli SuperNova Pump action on a Section 1. It holds 6 shots or 7 if I use 2.5 inch cartridges. A brilliant gun in my opinion.

You would be welcome to tag along with me. don't always get big bags but I have all the kit. I believe you have had contact with my mate Bullet Boy. He can vouch for the kit I have. Steve

CROW DECOYS WHAT DO YOU'S THINK??
steve_b_wales replied to buckfast d's topic in Pigeon Decoying Equipment
Get a Primos Power Crow Call at 9.99. With practice they are brilliant. I use one with my decoys and its brilliant. Another piece of kit is a flapper with a dead crow attached. It looks like an injured bird and the 'real' ones try to help it. I have taken many good photographs of them -
Probably because they are more reliable than semi-auto's. Even compared to the great semi's like Benelli and Beretta.

No Problem Andy. They are yours mate.

Bullet Boy and me bought some of the above ammo. While they seemed to be fast, there was a lot of variation in the power. Maybe we bought a bad batch. Overall, they are good.

What's wrong with a S & B ?
-
First of all, a good choice of rifle. I have two, in 243 & 308 caliber. I use a Kahles scope on the 308 and a Hawke Endurance on the 243 (used mainly for foxes) What are you using the 223 for? if its for foxes and vermin, you won't go wrong with a Shmidt & Bender 8x56. I use one on my Sako 22-250. With a budget of up to £1000 you have a great variety of good scopes to chose from. Go for a good make and you won't go wrong.

A .177 Gat pistol. Brilliant when you hit them over the head with it.

Cheers Mate. I will phone you next Saturday/Sunday. Don't forget to keep some crows for me!! Steve

Can you give a few more details or give a link to the product? Thanks

Does anyone know how and what to use to make their own dimmer for use with a lamp?

better look to dead birds without a cradle
steve_b_wales replied to malkiserow's topic in Pigeon Shooting Tips
I use garden canes cut to about a foot and sharpened at one end. I put the cane up through the rear of the pigeon/crow, into the head, and then place it in an upright position. Works every time. -

steve_b_wales replied to rabbithunter's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
If you order powder by post, you will pay a lot for the postage. Try local RFD's to order it for you. I recently paid £35.00. -
Check Gunmart magazine for prices of lamps. The Lance, I believe is around £75
