  1. Get the farmer to sign a written letter stating that he is having a lot of problems with crows/pigeon on his crops, and that he has given you permission to use the gun on his land. When writing to the police, the 'reason' for wanting a section 1 shotgun is for Crop Protection. This is what I was advised to write in my letter, advise given by my FEO. It worked for me.
  2. I have recently bought the Nova in FAC version (6 shot) I thinks it's brilliant. Obviously not as fast as a semi-auto but good none the less. It will cycle any size cartridge. I have not fired the 3.5 inch through it yet, but 3 inch magnums (50G) are fun! The gun is very robust and 'looks good' Highly recommended. To get this FAC version, I was told to get written permission off a farmer and, when applying, to add 'Crop Protection' for the reason to have one. I had no problems with this, although my certificate does state that I can only use this shotgun for shooting birds. Hope this helps. Steve
  3. I was a member there for many, many years, in the good old days of handguns. I spent many thousands of pounds over the years plus recommended them to my friends who also spent loads. But when I go there ( not very often) I am virtually ignored. If I was to wear a tweed suit and said "Guffaw Guffaw" that would be different. Still, I am sorry if they have gone under, if only for the one or two good staff there.
  4. Many thanks for all your replies. I am going to start from scratch and, once I get some empty shells, will try again. Watch this space for the results. :look:
  5. I'm using Lee Dies. Thanks Everyone.
  6. I have just spent a few hours decapping, cleaning, and priming a load of .243 cases. When I loaded the powder and went to place the bullet head ready for inserting in the case, I noticed that with quite a few cases, the neck was to wide, and the bullet just slid into the case. I am using mixed cases, but noticed that this is happening no matter what case I use. I am now left with about 60 primed cases. Is there anyway I can 'tighten' the neck of the case without damaging the primer? I am using a Lee Challenger bench press. Also, I use Hodgson H380 powder and throw a charge of 42grains (70 grn head ) How can I work out how many rounds I can get out of the tub. I want to work out exactly what it's costing me per round. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Steve
  7. Like everything else, you have to shop around and compare prices. Also, you can try and barter for a better deal. My mate recently bought a new Winchester SX3 semi auto 12 gauge from a shop in west Wales, and thought that he was having a good deal from them. When we went to Sportsman, we found out that he was charged £100 more than the recommended retail price. The guy in Sportsman was speechless when my mate told him how much he had paid. he even showed my mate what the retailer pays for the gun. It worked out that, even with fuel costs to travel down to Exeter, he would still have been £60 better off buying it there. Or, he could have had the gun sent to a RFD. I bought quite a few items and, when paying for them, had 10% knocked off the bill.
  8. I'll take it. A PM has been sent to you.
  9. If you have the FAC version, I don't think you will be able to shoot clays with it. I have the Supernova pump action which is a 6 shot. I can (legally) only use it for crop protection and it states on my certificate that it can only be used for this purpose. Technically, if I were to shoot a rabbit or fox with it, I would be breaking the law.
  10. My mate and me travelled down to the new shop in Exeter yesterday. Despite the 120 mile journey down to there, it was worth it. The shop is packed full of everything you will need. We were looked after by a staff member called Stuart, who spent as much time with us as we required. Nothing was too much of a problem for him, and my mate looked at many different scopes before deciding which one to buy. We both felt that we were valued customers and not just to get money out of us. We came from there after 4 hours with lots of 'goodies' and we certainly will be going back there in June. We even got two cups of coffee each. For those who have not been there, go and see for yourself. You will be amazed.

  21. On the morning of 20th March, I use my HSBC debit card to withdraw some cash from a Royal Bank of Scotland ATM in Cardiff. A few days later, when cheking my account via online banking, I noticed that on the same day, someone has 'used' my card to pay £50 for a Tesco mobile top up. It was also used to pay £17.30 for a Chinese meal in Aberdeen! These amounts were taken within 11 hours of me using the ATM. The bank has said that I will get my money back once they are certain that it's fraud. Although I am the victim here, I am still amazed what has happened and hope to find out how my card was 'cloned'. Anyone else had similar problems?
  22. I'll have them please. Let me know how you want paying. Cheers Steve
