  1. Bird of prey probably Buzard we have lost and still loosing loads this year to them .
  2. Sounds like feather pecking by other poults are they still in a pen ?
  3. As others have said the weather is the biggest problem when the poults are wet and cold this is when disease strikes it is usualy in the ground waiting for the right conditions we have had a new one this year SARCINA symptoms are the same as Hexi and Coxi droopy wings and the dreaded shuffle had to treat them with penaciline a good vet is a must.
  4. Wet weather will kill poor birds it also makes the others liable to catch disease medicated feed will not help as stated this is for gapes you need a vet they probably have hexi or coxi probably both and need a perscription medecine I have lost 300 this year in exactley the same conditions and had to get the vet all ok now.
  5. Unless they have improved since I tried them 3 years ago I would not use them Game Bore steel are far superior in my opinion. Keep trying to find some Game bore.
  6. Why would they wear a mask and try to shoot the snare off and the whole set up looks set up to me.
  7. NO NO It sounds serious to me best get down to A & E as soon as possible.
  8. Our Lab will work for me , my wife and our daughter but only picking up he hates beating.
  9. Second year chicory needs to be mown off in the spring then given nitrogen it will then re grow ready for the shooting season.
  10. I picked up my Game Bore Mammoth cartridges that I had ordered from my local gun shop today ready for the season and it made me look at the calender only 72 days to go .
  11. Have you checked that the barrel is still floating and not touching the wood work.
  12. Unfotunatley Nor is now a RSPB reserve and agree with what mudpatten said about Dr Harrison I think sadly most of the original members have passed on to the great marsh in the sky I do however still see Peter Comben who was the membership secretary back in late 1960 perhaps your dad remembers him.
  13. Just seen a post on another site a chap has 20,000 being delivered tomorrow I would not want the feed bill for that lot.
  14. Get the duck onto wheat after 2/3 days you dont want to be feeding them pellet to long the way they shovel it down 2 tonne will then be about right.
  15. Well unfrotunatley the crows did not want to play ,we have given them a pasteing over the last month did manage to fire 15 shots some at extreme range and the results were good including a 45yd pigeon stone dead they are a very punchy shell even through an auto might even have to go and get some more to stock pile.
  16. Tony just found your post whilst searching the web for info on the Jaguar Gamebore I have just brought 1000 32gm No 4 shot from Country Ways in West Malling Kent he has a job lot of them.
  17. Going to try them out on crows on thursday will report back on performance.
  18. Anser2 I have used Mammoths for several years and agree they are the best but at £172 I am going to use them on crows ,pigeons and if any good as a first shot when decoying duck out on the estuary.
  19. Just brought 1000 Game Bore Jaguar Gruppen 32 grm No4 shot for £172 as far as I can see they are the same spec as Wetland any one tried them ,at that price I am going to use them at everything.
  20. When you say not working as well do you mean they are not being used or the feed is not coming out. Birds will always have there favorite sited feeder and use this more than one only a few yards away. If the feed is not coming out this may be due to putting to much in the feeder if you fill them right up the pressure from the weight of feed stops it flowing down through the spring ,
  21. If you buy them in at 6week old the cost is about £5 per bird this price is based on our costs last year for 3000 pheasant and 1000 duck and is just for pellet and wheat plus the cost of the bird £3.50 we start in september on the duck so by october the number of duck is down a lot so this price would go up if you keep them longer but not to £28 .
  22. I have used the 3" ones with fibre cups and they worked fine I have spoken to Gamebore about a 32grm No 4 shot in 2 3/4 " but they claim they can not get that amount of shot into it. I think that all plastic wads in lead as well should be replaced with these fibre cups then we would all stop spraying plastic all over the country.
  23. Well for once it was worth watching but I expect most of us were shouting at the first bit when they showed a bunch of Graylag after going on about the numbers of Pinks in Norfolk apart from that it was good , the bird flue coverage was very worrying for any of us concerned with pheasant rearing for next season.
