  1. Most refreshing!I could almost feel that wind going through my bones as I watched it in a warm office.Once again you were in the rhythm with those birds & managed to avoid 'peppering' the house infront of which they all wanted to exit.Keep posting those videos as it seems to be the nearest I get to getting out in the hide these days.
  2. Mouthwateringly good.I think you might be starting a trend as there's always an excess of game meat at this point in the season.I am fond of making up pheasant (pigeon/ partridge/ duck) pasties at this time of year;Just 'pop' one out of the freezer the evening before a day in the hide & it's an instant packed lunch.(Demo video may follow)?
  3. Absolutely fantastic mount! Your attention to detail is typical of every good taxidermist and I know there can be no 'shortcuts'. As a matter of interest how do you go about removing the ear cartilages?I find their removal very difficult & invariably end up ripping the outer skin layer on rabbits & hares or is there a method other than gentle dissection using small ear dilators?
  4. You must have a 'glowing' feeling at the end of a day like that - man & dog in perfect harmony;Pretty good vid editing too!
  5. Great little video Stevo, ( watching at work again)you are a natural in the hide. Has stimulated my nerve cells enough to make me determined to use my hushpower .410 this w/e on the pigeons. The .410 mossberg is surprisingly well balanced & as you say they hit hard if you get the tiny pattern in the right place & even use it roost shooting later on.They are a good little sharpener!
  6. Has he made one for Stimpy yet?
  7. I was mesmerised by the photograph JDog.Something about the low light & the subject matter with the light reflected off the black plumage made it seem 'Just right' to me.Good session by the sound of it ,although I prefer to watch rather than shoot shoot rooks in particular.
  8. You have a wonderful dog there - he enjoys every minute& does some brave retrieves. What a lovely spot to spend a couple of hours.
  9. ...Started out on stubble next door to one shot a week ago,but only when a bird of prey put up a big flock on the horizon, did I realise that they were on a bean stubble further down the valley.Upped sicks at near to 4pm & had 2 hectic hours before things turned off.http://youtu.be/075blKiIuFs
  10. ..who hasn't been through this before?Watched 4 good stubble fields all week & got there early Sat am.-sit in truck & watch-find 'the' spot-draw up -unload mountain of kit-start to set up & two tractors arrive in that one field-had a chat =we're going to trim hedges & cultivate at same time & hoping to do all 4 fields!Back in truck (now 10.45)- do 3 hours of driving around all likely stubbles- find one towards 2pm.that has 20-30 feeding-phone farmer who answers but is in an auction yard & cannot hear me-promises to phone back-15 mins later have chat & get permission- Dairy farm- gate-gate -gate- get to what looks like good spot-set up -park truck- 2 birds in ten minutes & then NOTHING!Pack up -fetch truck- gate -gate -gate-last ditch look at 3 more fields-(now gone 3pm.)- find wheat stubble with 100+ feeding at far end BUT with farmer on matbro trimming trees at road end of field- have a chat & set up at base of tree facing away from matbro etc but with (now low) sun in face.Good action for 2 hours (53)- knackered & dehydrated by the end...http://youtu.be/Dl-gCPFm6ZQ
  11. ...sorry JDOG but the farmer was very keen for me to shoot these pigeons.I must have seen 2-3000 pigeons flighting over this field during the day,not really interested in the whirly?

  13. In the earlier clips I thought you had a silver ashtray next to your lighter on the hide tray, until you picked up your clicker!I was glad because I find one smokes many more cigarettes when one's carrying ones silver ashtray into the hide.I watched this video secretly at work & it took me far away for a few minutes-thanks.
  14. Field voles.Supposed to be getting scarce over the last decade ,but there are quite strong 'pockets' of them in wet areas these last two or three years in Herefordshire.A network of tunnels/holes just below the grass roots is typical. It's what motorway Kestrels will be hunting for most of the time in the winter.
  15. Aigle neoprene would be in that price range;Quality fit ,warm & have incredibly good grip in slippery conditions. With everyday use mine have lasted 4-5 years & I'm on my third pair now.
  16. A very realistic decoy & you've obviously spent many hours on the fine detail; How much do they weigh? As winter decoying approaches we are all looking to reduce the bulk we haul over wet ,muddy fields & I always like to set out about a dozen decoys to start the pattern?Do you also have any mounting system to give them some 'wobble'/movement?
  17. I would be interested in this gun at £600-but I'm in Hereford & you are a fair distance away; What are the rules & regs re mailing/couriering shotguns & the logistics of certification of SGC without travelling that distance?
