  1. I have bought knives from dmost in Croatia. A knife that would cost three times the price in uk. https://dmostknives.wordpress.com/
  2. Regardless of refunds it will be 20% on the value added. A significant contribution no doubt, even after the down trades. What I have not got my head around is the proportion of private schools for children with learning or educational difficulties. When I see friends with kids at Eton or Wellington paying £20k a term plus £40k extra curricula then 20% tax is doable. Of course there will be some on the margins.
  3. Have to wait till I get back but sounds interesting stuff.
  4. Let's see if that's the case. Start of taper? Don't know the current I am out of there. This. I think res was / is excluded? You learn one set of rules and everything changes. Just trying to move some pension cash from a pay off account. Pension provider insists I use 'money helper' to move to a self administered fund because its subject to currency fluctuations. Two month delay and an hour convo to get a code to make the switch to my own pension.
  5. Great stuff. If you have a relative now is tge time to visit. You want the next readings to be so low. Good luck.
  6. I can't agree that the govt has been building confidence. Not when Sipp age is under attack (55 to 57 with your own cash) and the pension contribution has been limited at £40k. Further crippled with the tapered reduction. As for the rumours let's wait and see. I would agree thought that these changes suck confidence from the whole system. We also need it to work to move away from State pension other than as a basic fall back. It's difficult to see a way out.
  7. Claverley out. Now there is a surprise. Over to the members.
  8. I was thinking along similar lines earler. It's so easy to be scammed. I saw an advert from a fairly new poster. If I was buying from them I would want the produced posted to me and received before payment.
  9. Agreed (mostly) but the new consolidated pension pays out more than was paid in. Payments in are treated as a contribution to the pot for expenditure. The tripple lock is an unsustainable political straight jacket. It relies upon a growing economy and population to continue. With a birth rate at less than 1.5 something has to give. Or continue with migration.
  10. I hope you can at least go back to the water company and ask for a rebate. At the very least for water disposal charges over the last few years(?).
  11. Looks lovely. Tonight I met my niece with her cardboard rucksack. I took her to dinner at her favourite vegan restaurant (Balans). Food was absolutely carp but i said it was lovely. I left half but said I was full. Water was nice. 🤣
  12. Nhs pension pays more in than it pays out. Govt spends the surplus 😵‍💫 same with State pension liability. Liability is increasing and no funding arrangements. It would be interesting to see the trend. Most of the pensions I thought were now private.
  13. Water is cheap. We are on a meter and water an acre of lawns, fill a pool and water 100 trees. Our bill is just £16. It would be £32 on mains sewage.
  14. They were that's true. You think having a plan is socialist? 🤣
  15. It's all state paid pensions.
  16. It's billions. Also billions on treasury payments still.
  17. 🤣 Socialist ???? 🤣🤣🤣
  18. Hardly. They have been in power 100 days(?) Conditions are the same. How can you honestly say its any different? Pensioners get a good screw far more out than they paid in on (average).
  19. Time for a rerun on Brexit 🤣 only joking. Patriots 😁 hope they do a good job. For me I don't care so long as they have some ideas to try and Starmer has that. I voted Cameron as there was hope. Unfortunately over run and undermined by radicals. We need some stability and a 10 year plan is the only way to get some normality.
  20. So this week the four candidates become three. It seems a very muted contest. Have the tories become an irrelevance? We need an opposition.
  21. Whatever the number it's nothing compared to the 100's of thousands of dependents brought here over the last three years. Dependents from India, Pakistan and Nigeria that are here only because the country voted Brexit. If you voted Brexit you have no room for complaint.
