I remember my first canada goose as if it was yesterday, it wasn't a spectacular shot infact it was a flock shot at 15yards as 2O or so geese cane down along a small tributary river, I was only 8 and the gun was as big as me. My first pinkfoot was by far the most memorable, it was my 13th birthday and I was up on the solway in a gulley with my uncle, I had already fired 10 shots that morning with my uncles mossberg pump (which I couldn't pump as my arms were to short) without success, a skein of geese lifted and came over, my uncle fired and dropped 1 pink so I swung through and fired and missed clean the bird I fired at but the bird behind folded up beautifully, obviously I told every one it was the bird I aimed at,

Me and the missus are looking to go up to Scotland for a few days in Feb and as it would be wrong not too take gun and dog. I've shot the solway during February severel times but fancy a change. So my question is, is the Tay any good in February, or is there any other firths worth a look?

Just looking now, there's a few nice ones there, sadly the ones with light choking are the expensive ones.

Ive put this in the wanted section aswell. I'm looking for sbs or even a Marlin bolt action, I sold my last 10b a couple of years ago and now I'm regretting that descision. Not looking for anything special , just a knock about gun, Chears. Ross.

I've seen that before on a couple of occasions, never looked into what it was though,

Thanks for the replays guys. Would be nice to see the results on those loads roughshooter. The expense doesn't worry me too much as I don't get a lot of chances when I'm up there, just want the right stuff for when I do, I use gamebore mammoth 3inch 3s for my general wildfowling down south and I love them. Not many geese over 25 yrds down here.

I've been using a freinds home loads. 3.8mm steel. Absolutely devasting on Canada's ,to much to be Honist. I patterned them at 50 and the pattern was awesome. But sadly the penertration wasn't there. I would preference to use Hevi-shot but I've run out. I've been using a freinds home loads. 3.8mm steel. Absolutely devasting on Canada's ,to much to be Honist. What are your veiws on this shot, I'm looking for something with a bit more knock down power to use on my trips to Scotland. Have been using steel for previous trips but I find it doesn't hit them hard enough. this is for foreshore wildfowling up to 50 yards, have had and witnessed alot of runners with steel.

The DVD is called goose fever. I have it on VHS.

Freezing them whole actually makes them Easyer to pluck when defrosted. I used to do it alot. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins to pluck a Canada. All depends how fussy you are with the outcome. I use a blow torch for the downy bits afterwords.

How does the "nice shot" perform. I presume its very similar to itm. I'm keen on getting an old type 10b with 2&7/8ths chamber. Bismuth and nice shot seem to be the only stuff available

Mossberg is now sold gents.

I tried to upload photos but it wasn't working. Ile try again.

Sadly incant seem to shoot well with it. Always had pumps and got on well. This one has been the most reliable but I miss more than I hit with it. Shame.

Haydels mp90 magnum pintail. Good call and it works for all whistling type ducks.
-
Yeah I was begining to think I was too. Although I did manage a Canada Friday night. Vyeah Scotland was good apart from the gun troubles.
-
Nice vid mate. Good shooting. Another favourite recipe for shoveler involve a house brick and some gravy. End result being the house brick will be more pallatable than the duck. I've avoided shooting one Ever since the first brace I shot. Lol.

Yeah it defenetly was. The best I've known.
