  1. Yup, looks to be just the a17 rebranded http://www.cci-ammunition.com/products/detail.aspx?use=1&loadNo=949CC But remember - unless you own a Savage Arms A17 you shouldn't be buying ammo dedicated for that rifle ?
  2. Aye, Spectre was a real disappointment... although could see the direction the newest films were headed 3/4 the way through Skyfall. Casino Royale was excellent, true Bond IMO and Quantum Of Solace although a bit of a nothing film was well done and tied things off... Skyfall started off promising so much but ended up a bit naff - but it's still a lot better than Spectre.
  3. No. Disney is finishing off the original 9-film story, so there is guaranteed to be 1 more Star Wars film yet to come... They also said they will release several 'spin off' films - like Rogue One.
  4. It HAS to be worldwide release on May the 4th...
  5. 452 American for sale, good money too. Just get it bought, lad! https://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/366978-cz -452-american-17-hmr/
  6. Hmmm just as well Iv never bothered. Not much good to me with those sizes - I'm a 32"(w)-34"(l)...
  7. Bother Iv found with a lot of these sites, and army surplus ones too - they don't tell you inside leg length. Puts me off buying a lot of stuff, because I need a 33"-34"
  8. There's a tidy looking 455 HMR in the (trade) sale section. Looks more like a Varmint barrel, but with Synthetic stock.
  9. Depends what you are doing... I've heard the mk5 l200 is softer than older models. But if you just want a 4wd car that you can chuck stuff into the back of, I reckon it'll be a good buy. Isuzu will probably rust out quicker. But if you do a lot of towing, it will be much better than the l200 - which is quite a bit lighter kerb weight. Isuzu also tows the full 3.5t.
  10. 10yr ago, I was out once a month and could get anywhere between 20 and 40 each time... but now, if I get 4 in a night I'm doing well! Myxi has hit, and hit again, in the past 6 or so years. Used to go ferreting, too, and have been looking and thinking about getting ferrets again. But I'm really unsure I could get the work for them.
  11. I have a handful of these - 1 in the car, a couple in the house, another in my shooting kit, another in the Land Rover... https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/UltraFire-LED-Flashlight-Aluminium-Mini-Torch-2000-LM-Lumens-Zoomable-Flashlight/222000458813?epid=1789036260&hash=item33b0422c3d:g:U9YAAOSwLnlWn5nv Mega bright for their tiny size. Fit in your pocket. Run off a single AA battery.
  12. Just Google "bean bag filling". It's pretty cheap stuff.
  13. I have the (old style) Pintail Smock... It's sold as waterproof, it isn't. It's shower proof (and you need to keep it clean for the fabric to work properly, I Nikwax'd it to solve that.). I've had it for 3-4 years now, and it's still pretty much like new. I wear it for work (shepherd), and when out shooting. I've been out lamping the last 3 weekends in all this frost and snow - heavy cotton Polo shirt, fleece pullover over and the Ridgeline smock Is all Iv had on my top half and Iv been toastie. It keeps the heat in, and breaks the wind, too. IMO Ridgeline have been smart, functional clothing which looks cheap compared to Swazi or Harkila... but it's still expensive for what it is (but they are all over priced).
  14. Yes, Ableforth's! Rumbullion is gorgeous. As I posted earlier on, it's my favourite rum to drink neat. I'm not much of a Gin drinker, so I've not tried the Bathtub Gin, but if it's of the quality of the Rum it will be good!
  15. Another to add to the list. Dark Matter. From start to finish it is Scottish - distilled in Banchory Aberdeen. It is a dark spiced, with strong scents of Ginger. Goes really well with Ginger Beer but Iv not tried it any other way yet.
  16. I am no biker... but I have grown up on farm quads. Not 1 has ever had a clutch lever, but all are manual (sometimes referred to as semi-automatic). Why do road bikes need manual clutches? Surely if Honda and co. can put the technology onto farm bikes then it is there to be utilised by road bikes too? Or am I missing something?...
  17. The Highlanders? I bought my usual shoe size and they fit fine. I find them very comfortable. If you buy a pair, check inside the boots first, though - along with the standard rolled up paper in the toes, my ones had spare insoles... I didn't notice until after I had forced my foot into the first boot and thought they were very tight!
  18. I have a Pintail too (Christmas present, I had wanted one but would never have bought one), I do generate a lot of heat and can get very warm wearing it. But it's great! Out on the rabbits last weekend in freezing conditions - I had fleece lined hiking trousers on and a thin fleece pullover over a t-shirt then my Pintail on and a beanie hat. Toastie warm all night. Very effective at its job ? 2 years ago I bought a budget brand (Glenwood?) Smock, which is like the Monsoon smock, for about £80. I bought it for work (shepherd) and absolutely love it. Grudged paying so much I must confess - my jackets of choice before it were wax for £35-£30 - but I'm totally sold on it. But there is no way I would ever, ever pay the money some of these companies ask for their gear.
  19. Massive +1. When you see some large scale commercial shoots (I live on one, with another 2-3 very close by) and see what the shooters wear - and the 'cars' (4x4's) they show up in... it's no wonder Joe-public think it's all just a game for the mega rich. Does the sport/industry image no good, IMO.
  20. I have a pair of Karrimor quite similar looking to the Hi Gear in OP. £40 from Sports Direct, marked down from £80-£90 IIRC, had them 3-4 years now and very happy with them. Use them as 'smart' scruffy boots when I go to shows or field events (they clean up well), as well as their intended hiking. I'm really happy with them. For shooting and working I bought a pair Highlander Elite boots as I prefer something which comes higher up the calf (Karrimor are maybe 5-6 inch, whereas these are 8inch) : http://www.military1st.co.uk/fot144-bn-highlander-elite-forces-boots-brown.html Managed to find them on Amazon for £60. Only had them 3 months, but i am really impressed so far. I live in boots as much as I can at work - except for the worst of winter where I switch to wellies - so these will get a real workout once lambing starts. If they can stand up to farm work they can stand up to anything!!
  21. Aye, it should have been based on activity... but that is a more complex way to do it - and easier to get around. There's plenty, shooting is THE income. So why shouldn't they pay? Seems perfectly reasonable to me. The estates affected can, and will, up their fees for days. And most big day clientele can afford it without batting an eye. The estates which are N/A carry on as before. They were abolished because revenues were so low it wasn't worth it - there was little money in shooting in the late 80's and 90's. Times have now changed for many estates, despite what they tell you. Brain May? You should do your research - he has the deer controlled on the land he owns!!
  22. Already have the 4 I need - for now... .22lr for rabbits (Puma Hunter synthetic) .17hmr for crows (CZ452 Varmint) .410 for rats and rabbits (ferreting) (Norica 3-shot b/action) 12g for anything in the sky (Browning B26 28" barrels).
  23. Shooting rates is an old thing... IMO it should not have been done away with, and should be charged across the whole of the UK. The Tories would never reintroduce it, as that would mean taxing the richest... Shooting generates a lot of money, and most estates will be able to stand tall after paying rates. So it's only right these commercial businesses pay something.
  24. With that in mind I bought a Puma, brand new, with 400rds of subs for £150 back in February. If I miss, it's my fault - I know that because any time I've set up targets to check, it's more accurate as I am @ 75yds It's a great wee gun. Stuck my old Bushnell 3-9x40 on it and use my ASE Utra mod up front... the rabbits really don't like it. At that price, with the plastic stock, I don't feel guilty knocking it - unlike when Iv bumped the CZ
